To improve our understanding of the current endemic status of schistosomiasis and to better control the transmission of the disease in the Poyang Lake Region, it is important to analyse the clustering pattern of schistosomiasis and detect the hotspots of transmission risk. Results: Based on annual surveillance data, at the village level in this region from 2009 to 2014, spatial and temporal cluster analyses were conducted to assess the pattern of schistosomiasis infection risk among humans through purely spatial(LocalMoran’s I, Kulldorff and Flexible scan statistic) and space-time scan statistics (Kulldorff). A dramatic decline was found in the infection rate during the study period, which was shown to be maintained at a low level. The number of spatial clusters declined over time and were concentrated in counties around Poyang Lake, including Yugan, Yongxiu, Nanchang, Xingzi, Xinjian, De’an as well as Pengze, situated along the Yangtze River and the most serious area found in this study. Space-time analysis revealed that the clustering time frame appeared between 2009 and 2011 and the most likely cluster with the widest range was particularly concentrated in Pengze County. -

The attitudes of local people to wildlife are thus an increasing important element of conservation work. Attitudinal studies have increasingly been adopted as a tool for evaluating public understanding, acceptance and impact of conservation interventions. However, attitudes may vary within a community and be influenced by many factors. In this study, data were collected from November 2009 to January 2010 by questionnaire and informal interviews with local people in Taohongling National Nature Reserve of Jiangxi province to assess how their attitudes towards wild boar were shaped by a series of socio-demographic and physical factors. The results showed that 92.8% of the interviewees considered wild boar had no value while 7.2% chose having value; 29.7% chose “extirpate”, 70.3% chose “control” and nobody chose “protect” when asked about how they would expect the wild boar population changes; 86.6% chose “no” and 13.4% chose “yes” when inquired about whether they would kill wild boars when their interests were threatened by wild boars. -

E-mail: [email protected] ABSTRACT Poyang Lake Ecological Economic Zone, a traditional rural area in Jiangxi province, whose grain production holds an important status in the pattern of food production in Jiangxi province. This paper empirically analyzes Total Factor Productivity (TFP) changes of grain in 25 counties (cities) in Poyang Lake Ecological Economic Zone by adopting DEA- Malmquist index model. The result shows that TFP of grain in Poyang Lake Ecological Economic Zone increased from 2000 to 2010 on the whole. In addition, the principal element of the increase is technological progress. Further analyzing its decomposition, it is known that the increase of TFP mainly comes from technological progress. Separately, TFP of four counties (cities) including Yongxiu county, Ruichang city, Yujiang county and Guixi city decreased while the other 21 counties’ all increased. Since it was launched in October 2011, the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) sensor on the Suomi National Polar-orbiting Partnership (NPP) Satellite has become a new satellite used to monitor nighttime light. This study performed the first evaluation on the NPP-VIIRS nighttime light imagery in modeling economy, analyzing 31 provincial regions and 393 county regions in China. For each region, the total nighttime light (TNL) and gross regional product (GRP) around the year of 2010 were derived, and a linear regression model was applied on the data. -
