The chamber promotes Massena as a tourist destination and as a great place to visit and live by providing local and travel information to visitors, members and the general public. We are recognized as the source of information for visitors and newcomers by providing information about Massena and the surrounding communities. The chamber is accessible online, by phone, email, mail and in-person. Business referral of chamber members is just one of the many membership beneϐits for the Massena Chamber. The Chamber has over 300 members, which include businesses, not-for-proϐit organizations and individuals. Seventeen of these members are on the board of directors and six serve on the executive board. The chamber presents over 17 annual events, including quarterly Business After Hours, Annual Luncheon and Dinner, Winter Carnival, Heritage Festival and Harvest Festival. Without the ϐinancial support from many local businesses and the help of many volunteers, these events would not be possible. As well, the chamber manages the gift store at the Dwight D. Eisenhower Locks Memorial Day through Labor Day. The Chamber is managed by an Executive Director, Associate Director and Event Coordinator. This ofϐice handles thousands of inquiries yearly relating to Massena and the surrounding area. Community proϐiles, relocation and tourism packages, including area attractions, membership directories, demographic data, etc. are mailed throughout the United States and Canada to people interested in the area. • To act as the “clearing house” for the Chamber Mission Greater Massena area, including community Statement & Objectives events and activities, using all resources available to accomplish this effort. “The mission of the Greater Massena Cham- • Be a focal point in the community; sources ber of Commerce is to enhance and sustain of information of new and existing business, the economic environment and the quality newcomers, organizations, etc. of life in our community.” • To act as the leader in bringing businesses and professionals together to address their Objectives: needs as well as the community’s. • To increase the economic growth of the • To serve as a partner with local government Greater Massena area through development for identifying community needs and provid- of business, industry, and tourism; encour- ing recommendations for the solutions. aging new businesses and assisting busi- • To improve the quality of life in the commu- nesses as their needs arise. nity; to help people enjoy a better way of life, • To promote the Greater Massena area; both physically and ϐinancially. • Extraordinary Weather Policy (PDF)
Extraordinary Weather Conditions POLICY: Normal operations must be continued as much as possible. Services related to the maintenance and security of facilities and the health and safety of students, staff, and guests (i.e. emergency management, food service, power plant, security, safety, snow removal, etc.) are considered essential and must be continued in spite of severe weather conditions. College employees are required to remain on duty or report to work to avoid interruption of essential services unless directed or permitted to do otherwise. Under State policy, employee absences resulting from severe weather conditions, including "directed absences," must be charged to personal, overtime, holiday, or vacation accruals (unless the employee prefers a pay cut), even under circumstances requiring the cancellation of classes or the closing of the College. In very unusual circumstances, agencies may, after the fact, petition the Civil Service Commission (CSC) and/or the Governor's Office of Employee Relations (GOER) to suspend the Attendance Rules to excuse full-day absences without charge to leave credits. The (CSC)/(GOER) will consider such requests when buildings must be closed because they are unsafe, resulting in full day absences, or when extraordinary weather conditions affect the ability of large numbers of employees over a wide geographic area to report to work for periods in excess of one full-day. Following are: (1) a statement that outlines the authority of the College President to respond to extraordinary weather conditions, and (2) some Internet links containing documents that provide historical perspective to the State's policies. Presidential Authority. The President, upon receipt of a recommendation from the Assistant Vice President for Physical Plant may: 1.

  • Revitalization of the AM Radio Service ) ) ) )
Before the FEDERAL COMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION Washington, DC In the matter of: ) ) Revitalization of the AM Radio Service ) MB Docket 13-249 ) ) COMMENTS OF REC NETWORKS One of the primary goals of REC Networks (“REC”)1 is to assure a citizen’s access to the airwaves. Over the years, we have supported various aspects of non-commercial micro- broadcast efforts including Low Power FM (LPFM), proposals for a Low Power AM radio service as well as other creative concepts to use spectrum for one way communications. REC feels that as many organizations as possible should be able to enjoy spreading their message to their local community. It is our desire to see a diverse selection of voices on the dial spanning race, culture, language, sexual orientation and gender identity. This includes a mix of faith-based and secular voices. While REC lacks the technical knowledge to form an opinion on various aspects of AM broadcast engineering such as the “ratchet rule”, daytime and nighttime coverage standards and antenna efficiency, we will comment on various issues which are in the realm of citizen’s access to the airwaves and in the interests of listeners to AM broadcast band stations. REC supports a limited offering of translators to certain AM stations REC feels that there is a segment of “stand-alone” AM broadcast owners. These owners normally fall under the category of minority, women or GLBT/T2. These owners are likely to own a single AM station or a small group of AM stations and are most likely to only own stations with inferior nighttime service, such as Class-D stations.
