Amo, Clerk Elementary Principal (315) 562-8132 Fax: (315) 562-8134 Dear Parents/Guardians: Welcome to a new school year and a new September. The month of September transitions all of us – students, parents, and school personnel – back from a brief rest on the sidelines full throttle onto the field of play. Fortunately, as the month rolls on, we all fall into a fairly regular game plan of teaching and learning. This game plan begins with each child arriving at the school house rested and ready to learn. Once inside, our team of educators is committed to providing high-quality instruction which promotes student growth and which provides experiences that foster healthy physical, emotional, and intellectual development. To help each child meet his or her potential, there must be a strong connection between home and school. School is not the “away team” and family the “home team.” Instead, we play different positions on the same field and on the same team, all of us advancing the children down toward the goal. To this end, an open line of communication between home, teachers, support staff, and office personnel is an essential ingredient for academic success. Additionally, as with any game comes a book of rules, developed to keep play fair. Within the student handbook, you will find the rules of play for the school year. The Parent-Student-School Compact in particular helps to define the roles of each of the key players in your child’s educational team. I ask that you pay close attention to this compact and think seriously about your role on your child’s team when it comes to academic achievement. Additionally, please consider reading the compact to your child. Please return a signed copy of this compact to your child’s classroom teacher to indicate your willingness to be a part of your child’s educational. Together, we will support one another and prepare our children to meet their fullest potential. Go Cougars! Amy Lamitie Elementary Principal Edwards-Knox Elementary School Parent-Student-School Compact In order to promote student achievement, AS A SCHOOL, WE WILL o encourage and welcome parents into the classroom for planned activities; o keep children safe by requiring all visitors sign in and wear an identification tag; o communicate with parents, as needed, to keep them informed of their child’s progress; o deliver quality instruction each day; o encourage your child’s natural curiosity in all
