FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Monday, Aug. 17, 2015 RARE SUNDAY FOX SPORTS 1 UFC FIGHT NIGHT FEATURES TOP- RANKED FEATHERWEIGHTS NO. 5 HOLLOWAY VS. NO. 7 OLIVEIRA Former Bantamweight Champion Dominick Cruz Serves as Analyst with Ranked Middleweight Michael Bisping LOS ANGELES – Top-ranked featherweights headline a rare Sunday evening FOX SPORTS 1 UFC FIGHT NIGHT on Aug. 23 (9:00 PM ET) as No. 5 Max Holloway (13-3, fighting out of Waianae, Hawaii) takes on No. 7 Charles Oliveira (20-4, 1NC, fighting out of Houston, by way of Sao Paulo, Brazil) with both fighters looking for a chance to build on a possible title run. “This fight between Holloway and Oliveira is a fight between two of most exciting fighters in all the UFC,” says FOX UFC analyst Kenny Florian. “Both are finishers and both are future title contenders. I don’t see how this can’t be a great, exciting fight.” Riding an impressive six-fight win streak and looking for an opportunity to avenge his last loss to now interim featherweight champion Conor McGregor, Holloway has made the leap from touted prospect to distinguished contender. Victorious in his last four outings, Oliveira currently sits at fourth place for most submissions in UFC history (7). An emphatic victory from either competitor puts them in prime position to challenge for the featherweight scrap. Also featured on the main card are No. 15-ranked welterweight Neil Magny (15-5, fighting out of Denver) as a late replacement against Judo black belt Erick Silva (18-5, 1NC, fighting out of Vila Velha, Brazil.) The main card kicks off with a women’s strawweight matchup as No. 8 Maryna Moroz (6-0, fighting out of Volnogorsk, Ukraine) fights Valerie Letourneau (6-3, fighting out of Coconut Creek, Fla.), followed with a bruising matchup when Olivier Aubin-Mercier (6-1, fighting out of Montreal) meets Tony Sims (12-2, fighting out of Denver). The main card also contains two more intriguing bouts as undefeated Chad Laprise (11-0, fighting out of Montreal) faces Francisco Trinaldo (11-7, fighting out of Brasilia, Brazil), while Patrick Cote (21-9, fighting out of Montreal, Canada) duels veteran Josh Burkman (28-12, fighting out of Draper, Utah) in a lightweight showdown. Jon Anik (@Jon_Anik) and Brian Stann (@BrianStann) call the fights on FOX Sports 1 live from the SaskTel Centre in Saskatoon, while Víctor Dávila and Erik Perez make the call in Spanish on FOX Deportes (delayed to 7:00 PM ET on Monday, August 24). The two-hour FOX SPORTS 1 UFC FIGHT NIGHT PRELIMS feature four bouts starting at 7:00 PM ET. Sam Stout (21-11-1) and Frankie Perez (9-2) battle in a lightweight bout. Bantamweights Yves Jabouin (20-9) and Felipe Arantes (16-7-1, 2NC) face off, while light heavyweights Marcos Rogerio de Lima (13-3-1) and Nikita Krylov (18-4) keep the action rolling. Flyweights Chris Kelades (8-2) and Chris Beal (10-1) get things started on the PRELIMS with a lightweight showdown.
