MESSAGE DE LA PRÉSIDENTE ET DES CODIRECTEURS GÉNÉRAUX L’année dernière marquait le 25e anniversaire de LOVE (Québec) et de nos efforts consacrés à transformer la vie des jeunes en difficulté. L’année fut également marquée par une autre étape importante : rejoindre plus de mille jeunes (un record pour notre organisme en une seule année) au moyen de nos programmes novateurs d’arts médiatiques et de leadership, de nos activités estivales et d’autres initiatives visant à offrir un espace sûr à ces jeunes. Notre influence positive s’est fait sentir dans tout le Grand Montréal, au moyen de programmes offerts dans 26 écoles et centres jeunesse, et grâce aux œuvres de nos jeunes qui ont été exposées à divers endroits de renom, comme le Musée des beaux-arts de Montréal et le Théâtre Rialto, durant le festival POP Montréal. Ce soutien s’avère particulièrement essentiel dans un monde où il devient de plus en plus difficile pour ces jeunes de trouver leur voie. Chez LOVE (Québec), nous prenons conscience du vaste éventail de difficultés qui touchent la jeunesse, dans un monde de plus en plus complexe. À ceux et celles qui ont souffert de problèmes émotionnels, mentaux et sociaux, nous offrons des programmes inspirants qui leur permettent de s’engager en vue de faciliter leur développement. Grâce aux efforts déployés en 2018, nous avons nettement progressé vers notre objectif actuel : avoir une influence positive dans la vie de plusieurs milliers de jeunes du Grand Montréal. Par une nouvelle image, des idées progressistes et une excellente équipe, nous sommes confiants de pouvoir continuer d’aider et de valoriser nos futures générations, afin de prouver que l’amour est plus grand que tout. MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT AND CO-EXECUTIVE DIRECTORS Last year marked the 25th anniversary of LOVE (Québec)’s efforts to positively transform the lives of young people facing challenges in their lives. The year was also marked by another milestone that saw us reaching over 1,000 youth--our highest reach in a single year--through our innovative Media Arts and Leadership programs, summer activities, and other initiatives providing a safe space for youth. The impact of our unique programs was felt in 26 schools and youth centres across Greater Montreal, and our youths’ work was exhibited at major locations such as the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, and the Rialto Theatre during the POP Montreal festival. These accomplishments are in no small part attributed to the tremendous contributions that you, our donors, volunteers, board members, staff and friends have made to LOVE (Québec) over these many years. This support is ever important as the world is becoming increasingly difficult for young people to navigate. At LOVE (Québec), we recognize the wide array of difficulties faced by our youth in a complex world. For those who have suffered emotional, mental and social challenges we provide programs that engage, inspire and facilitate their growth. The efforts made during 2018 significantly helped us progress towards our ongoing goal of impacting thousands of young people in Greater Montreal. With an updated look, progressive ideas, and a strong team, we need to continue that momentum so that LOVE (Québec) is viewed and cemented as a leading organization that continues to heal and empower our future generations, and ultimately prove that love is greater than anything. NOTRE HISTOIRE OUR STORY L’organisme a été fondé en 1993 par Sheila (Twinkle) Rudberg alors qu’elle désirait contribuer à enrayer le cycle de la violence dans la vie des jeunes. Après l’assassinat de son mari aux mains d’un adolescent de 14 ans, Twinkle a compris que le jeune était lui-même victime de violence. En peu de temps, Projet LOVE s’est fait connaître au Québec et a continué à faire ses preuves en lançant des programmes couronnés de succès à Toronto, Halifax et Vancouver. LOVE was founded in 1993 by Sheila (Twinkle) Rudberg who was inspired to end the cycle of violence in the lives of youth following the death of her husband by a 14- year old boy, who himself was a victim of violence. LOVE quickly gained recognition in Quebec and has since launched successful programs in Toronto, Halifax, and Vancouver. NOTRE MISSION OUR MISSION Impliquer les jeunes. Forger des liens. NOs Jeunes OUR youth Les programmes de LOVE (Québec) permettent de rassembler les jeunes de différentes origines ethniques et socio-économiques. Nos jeunes ont tous entre 12 et 21 ans. Plus de 70 % des jeunes de LOVE (Québec) ont subi de l’intimidation, de la violence ou de la discrimination, que ce soit dans leur milieu familial ou dans leur communauté. LOVE (Québec)'s programs unite youth from diverse backgrounds. Our youth are all between the ages of 12 and 21. Over 70% of LOVE (Québec)'s youth have experienced bullying, violence, or discrimination either in their homes or in the wider community.     Safe Physical and Cyber Environment POLICY: Safe Physical and Cyber Environment CODE: DG-27 Origin: Community Services and Regional Office Authority: Resolution #12-11-28-13 Reference(s): Refer to Legal Framework on pages 2&3 RATIONALE The English Montreal School Board (EMSB) believes that every member of its community has the right to learn and work in a safe physical and cyber environment. The EMSB advocates a strong safety and prevention focus which includes student education and support, as well as professional development as per the Quebec Education Program (Q.E.P.) and the EMSB’s Strategic Plan. The EMSB does not tolerate any behaviour that jeopardizes the psychological, social, or physical well-being of members of its community. POLICY STATEMENT 1. It is the responsibility of all EMSB employees, students and parents to maintain, by their actions and behaviours, a safe and positive learning and working environment based on cooperation, and mutual respect. 2. The EMSB does not condone violations related to, but not limited to, the Definitions as outlined in Appendix I. 3. The EMSB will actively investigate reports of violations of the Policy submitted in accordance with established procedures and will take appropriate action. 4. Consequences for non-compliance with the Policy will be in accordance with all applicable laws, EMSB policies, collective agreements, rules and Codes of Conduct of individual 1 Safe Physical and Cyber Environment schools and centres. In some cases, the consequences may include disciplinary measures and/or legal proceedings. 5. All individuals are expected to assume responsibility for their actions. 6. All EMSB stakeholders shall be expected to be familiar with the Policy and its Procedures.

After that date, Mr. Tony Pita, Principal students may choose to wear their Physical Education Mr. Jeff Bateman, Vice-Principal uniform for exams. Mr. Steven Manstavich, Vice-Principal The annual Book Fair on May 2 was its usual success, an opportunity for students to purchase their summer reading books or pick up a book for pleasure. The Spanish classes helped Royal West Academy celebrate Cinco de Mayo on May 7, filling the auditorium and school with so much more than food, music, and games (see page 17 for details). A fantastic cultural experience coordinated by Ms. Almeida, Ms. C. Holloway, and their students. Welcome to the final edition of RWA NEWS for the Spring music concerts and drama presentations filled 2017–2018 school year. Within you will find many the month with more cultural exposure, showcasing the interesting stories of the accomplishments and talents of our students. Building on the merger of three organizations in July 2005, LEARN has developed a variety of resources. LEARN is a driving force for educational innovation and practice as well as an internationally recognized leader in the field on e-learning. The learn team is composed of highly skilled and experienced educators and professionals who bring to the community a vast array of resources and services which are coupled with a collaborative and success-oriented mindset. At the heart of the organization, and its distinguishing feature, is a deep-rooted passion for education.
