CSR starts internally within the organization as a set of beliefs and values of all the human resource. In such a case the organization will naturally communicate those ethical values through: 1. Personal interaction level (Meetings, promotions, events, media gatherings) 2. Corporate communications (press releases, webpage, print communications, product labels, advertising campaigns, brand building strategies, corporate logo) In effect and as illustrated in Fig 1, these communicated beliefs will result in added trust towards the organizations’ overall image and will potentially increase business and sustain development in the long run. In the ideal case, CSR is conducted as part of and adapted to the business strategy and vision, which is normally defined by the top management. According to the St. Galler Management Concept (University of St. Gallen, Bleicher 1991), these principles should be realized by the strategical and operational management levels. The whole strategy is therefore conducted by the whole company and becomes a part of the company’s identity. To act socially responsible and to integrate CSR in a businesses’ strategy has eventually the aim of increasing sales revenues and achieving profits, as opposed to purely philanthropic actions. -

Mollusc-feeding biology is highly diverse, including omnivorous grazers, herbivores, carnivorous scavengers and predators, and even some parasitic species. Consequently, their digestive system presents many adaptive variations. The digestive tract starting in the mouth consists of the buccal cavity, oesophagus, stomach and intestine ending in the anus. Several types of glands are associated, namely, oral and salivary glands, oesophageal glands, digestive gland and, in some cases, anal glands. The digestive gland is the largest and more important for digestion and nutrient absorption. The digestive system of each of the eight extant molluscan classes is reviewed, highlighting the most recent data available on histological, ultrastructural and functional aspects of tissues and cells involved in nutrient absorption, intracellular and extracellular digestion, with emphasis on glandular tissues. David Lambert 1 Spiralia is a large, ancient and diverse clade of animals, with a conserved early developmental 1234567890():,; program but diverse larval and adult morphologies. One trait shared by many spiralians is the presence of ciliary bands used for locomotion and feeding. To learn more about spiralian- specific traits we have examined the expression of 20 genes with protein motifs that are strongly conserved within the Spiralia, but not detectable outside of it. Here, we show that two of these are specifically expressed in the main ciliary band of the mollusc Tritia (also known as Ilyanassa). Their expression patterns in representative species from five more spiralian phyla—the annelids, nemerteans, phoronids, brachiopods and rotifers—show that at least one of these, lophotrochin, has a conserved and specific role in particular ciliated structures, most consistently in ciliary bands.
