POLITICAL. POWERFUL. PASSIONATE. AND ’S MASTERPIECE ‘’ TAKES OVER THE HISTORIC ERNEST BORGNINE THEATRE.

LONG BEACH – August 13, 2019 – The newest professional theatre in Southern California, P3 THEATRE COMPANY, announces final casting for Evita, the first show of P3's Inaugural 2019/2020 Season.

For the first time ever, TIM RICE and ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER’s iconic musical will open at the Historic Ernest Borgnine Theatre in Long Beach, California, on September 13, 2019, and runs through September 29, 2019.

Evita opened on Broadway in 1979, and won an incredible seven and six Drama Desk Awards, cementing Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s place as one of the most successful musical partnerships of all time. The finest ever pairing of Tim Rice’s lyrics and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s music has created some of the most beloved songs in . The Latin rock/jazz/pop score includes Don’t Cry For Me Argentina, On This Night of a Thousand Stars, Oh What A Circus, You Must Love Me and Another Suitcase in Another Hall.

P3 Theatre Company Executive Artistic Director, Jon Peterson, serves as Executive Producer for the company’s inaugural season. "Evita is more than a musical masterpiece. The story is amazingly relevant today - a true story about a charismatic personality with no governing experience who rides ambition, opportunity and a wave of populism to political triumph and power,” says Peterson.

The international hit musical, from musical theatre stalwarts Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber, will star CHRISTY MAURO-COHEN as the (in)famous Argentinian first lady, Eva Perón. With well over 200 performances under her belt as Eva Perón, Ms. Mauro-Cohen is excited to be returning again to the Southern California stage to reprise the role for P3 Theatre Company. Ms. Mauro-Cohen has opened for Eddie Fisher, Rodney Dangerfield, Jackie Mason and Robert Klein. Ms. Mauro-Cohen starred in Always, Patsy Cline in Las Vegas with Sally Struthers. Regional Theatre credits include: Eva Perón in Evita, Maria in , Daisy Gamble in On A Clear Day, Guinevere in Camelot, Aldonza in Man of La Mancha, Mable in Mack and Mabel, Eliza Doolittle in , Sally Bowles in , Esmeralda in The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and Victor/Victoria in Victor/Victoria.

Veteran stage actor RUDY MARTINEZ reprises his role as the dictator Juan Perón. Mr. Martinez's regional credits include: Man of La Mancha, Che/Peron/Magaldi in Evita, Tevye in , The Baker in , in Sweeney Todd, El Gallo in The Fantasticks, The Balladeer in Assassins, Scrooge in A Christmas Carol, Valentin in Kiss of the Spider Woman and Kevin in . When not performing, Mr. Martinez owns a custom cake company "Man Bakes Cake" and was the winner of the Food Network's Halloween Baking Championship.

Rounding out the cast is EURIAMIS LOSADA as Che Guevara, the antagonistic narrator. Mr. Losada can be seen in Steven Soderberg's "Che Part 1", NBC's "Cold Case", ABC's "Trophy Wife", NBC's "Powerless". His Regional Credits include: Romeo & Juliet, Long Day's Journey Into Night, Bat Boy, Jekyll & Hyde, and Ricky Ricardo on the National Tour of I Love Lucy Live on Stage. You can currently see Mr. Losada in the CW's Seed’s “How To Be A Vampire” as Amadeus.
