Instant Upgrade Fares Instant upgrade fares are offered in select markets, giving members an opportunity to travel in the next higher cabin at the lower cabin rate. These fares are often subject to fare rules like restricted inventories (A, D, I, or R), round-trip booking requirements, and specific point of origin requirements so each market will be unique.

AAdvantage® Upgrades Members may upgrade their AirPass bookings via normal AAdvantage upgrade procedures using 500-mile, systemwide or mileage upgrade awards. Ticketing AirPass reservations can only be ticketed by American, so queueing is required.

Once queued, tickets will be issued 24 hours prior to departure. Reservations for travel on Sunday or Monday will be ticketed the Friday prior to travel. Changes to Reservations Before ticketing Any changes may be made and re-queuing is not required. For upgrades, rebook directly into the upgrade inventory. After ticketing • Changes may be made to flight TIME and DATE only and re-queuing is not required. • Changes to ORIG or DEST require canceling the original reservation and booking a new reservation, then queuing appropriately. • No exchanges or reissues are allowed on AirPass reservations.

Same Day Flight Change When available, Same Day Flight Change (SDFC) may be offered complimentary on AirPass bookings. PlanAhead tickets are exempt from the $75 SDFC charge. Companion Traveler Members are allowed one companion traveler, so a maximum of two travelers are allowed in an AirPass reservation. They must travel on the same itinerary and same class of service as the member and will be charged the same AirPass rate. The companion should be booked in the same PNR as the AirPass member. The member’s AAdvantage number is added with the companion’s name in the PNR. If the companion is in a separate PNR, add OSI/ SSR remarks as follows: • OSI AirPass companion • OSI AirPass member in ABCDEF

Helpful Hints • AirPass membership is linked to the AAdvantage® number and needs to be included in the Frequent Flyer field. • Travel can be booked one-way or round-trip. • Travel is valid on flights marketed and operated by American. A separate reservation must be created for non-AirPass travel likeone world or codeshare partner reservations. • In the ticketing field use 7T-AAIRPASS (Sabre only). • Ticketing for AirPass travel won’t occur until 24 hours before the flight and members aren’t charged until they fly.
