    Flexible Transport Service It provides a door-to-door transport service for those people who do not have their own transport and find ordinary buses too difficult to use. It operates Monday to Friday 9:30 to 16:00.   • Zeppelins Over Trentham
    Zeppelins over Trentham Zeppelin raids had taken place at points across the country from 1915, but it was believed that the Midlands were too far inland to be reached by airships. On 31st January 1916, the area was taken by surprise as a number of airships reached the Midlands. One was seen over Walsall at 20.10 and another attacked Burton at 20.30. Lighting restrictions were not in force at the time, so the local area, including the steelworks at Etruria, were lit up. A zeppelin approached from the south and was seen over Trentham. Frederick Todd, the Land Agent for the Trentham Estate, reported that: “At least two zeppelins, who were evidently making their way to Crewe, dropped seven bombs at Sideway Colliery without much damage - they missed their objectives which were the Power House, the by-products plant, and the pit-head installation.” They made craters, but caused no injuries or loss of life. Following this raid, precautions were taken, with blackouts and restrictions on lighting. In 1915 Trentham Church reported spending £3 on insurance against zeppelin attack and damage. On Monday 27th November 1916, a clear, dry night, the German Navy Airship LZ 61 [Tactical number L21], in the company of nine other Zeppelins, crossed the Yorkshire coast. It initially attacked Leeds but was repelled by anti-aircraft fire. Commanded by Oberleutnant Kurt Frankenberg, the LZ61 was on its 10th raid of England, and had also carried out 17 reconnaissance missions. At 22.45 a warning was received locally. Black out and air raid precautions were taken.

BRIEFING FROM RICHARD GOODWIN Richard Goodwin, from Strategic Infrastructure and Highways, Cheshire East Council, Project Sponsor for the project to remodel the Crewe Green Roundabout was welcomed to the meeting. Richard had been invited to attend to provide the PC with information relating to the remodelling of the Crewe Green Roundabout. Richard outlined the 4 options as follows: Option 1: Four-Arm Roundabout with two remote signalized junctions Option 2: Four-Arm Roundabout with one remote signalized junction and one non-signalized roundabout Option 3: Six-Arm Gyratory Option 4: Dumbbell Roundabout It was noted that the consultation period is to commence on 19th July and ends the first week of September. The Chairman thanked Richard for attending the meeting. 4. REPORTS FROM CHESHIRE CONSTABULARY The Clerk had invited PC Kerrie Cummings, (PC Nick Moore’s replacement), to the meeting, but she was unable to attend.   • Development Strategy Is Far More Than That
    Foreword The process of preparing a development plan is a complex one and can appear, at first sight, to simply be an update of existing Local Plans. Our Development Strategy is far more than that. It is a robust strategy to deliver positive, targeted and sustainable development to benefit all the people of Cheshire East. It will deliver 27,000 new houses, 20,000 new jobs, and the infrastructure needed for this to happen, and will continue to support Cheshire East’s position both as the economic powerhouse of the North West, and as a beautiful and prosperous place to live. We have a vision of genuine growth of jobs as part of a jobs-led development strategy, supported by improved connectivity through sustainable infrastructure, such as the Woodford-Poynton Relief Road, Congleton Link Road, dualling of the A500, and junction improvements to the M6. This is an ambitious plan which will protect the green and pleasant lands of Cheshire East through Green Belt swaps and Strategic Open Gaps, whilst delivering economic growth at one of the highest rates in UK PLC. It is underpinned by an innovative strategy for energy which focuses on sustainable alternatives to wind power, and by a real commitment to needs-based, community-led housing in order to provide lifelong housing to the people of Cheshire East. Having found the following notes on Tattenhall’s village and neighbourhood among my late father’s papers, and also that the reading of them considerably interested many friends, I decided, at their request, to place them in book form before the public, hoping they will meet with the same approval by the Tattenhall folk, as they have privately. I would also like to add that in the arranging and compiling of these notes I have been very cheerfully and ably helped by Mr. Alec C. Reid, a very old friend of our family. D. M. O. Bank House. It has been thought that it would not be uninteresting to the parishioners of Tattenhall, if a few notes were to be published of some of the changes in that time, in its appearance, and on its various inhabitants, their habits, customs, and traditions. It is not intended to write a history of the parish but merely to jot down such notes as may have been culled by the writer from various sources, or may have come down to him, as tradition, from some of the old inhabitants, long since dead. If any apology is needed for the writer venturing to publish this pamphlet, containing such jottings, it may perhaps be found in the fact that in these days of rapid progress, people are apt to forget or neglect the past history of their country, and whilst enjoying the countless privileges which they now have, fail to appreciate the greatness of those privileges, by not comparing them with the few advantages enjoyed by their forefathers.
