Pride News #26: February 27 – March 3

I hope that everyone had a good Winter Break. It’s hard to believe, but Spring Break will happen in 5 weeks, then 7 weeks and the school year ends.  Monday, February 27 is a student holiday and teacher work day; students return on Tuesday, February 28. We have several things to celebrate that occurred the week we got out for break or during the break week.  We celebrated Ms. Emily Pugh as the 2017 STAR Student and Mr. Dean Goldgar as her STAR Teacher at the Henry County Schools STAR breakfast hosted by the Henry County Chamber of Commerce on Thursday morning before break.  Starting the week we got out, leaders in our HOSA organization began offering basic CPR training to our students through their Advisory period. It is their goal that over the next 6 weeks all students will participate and have a basic knowledge of CPR. This is a part of a project that the group will compete with at the state level. It underscores how our students want to give back to their own and strengthen our school and greater community. What a wonderful example of Pride of the Pride. Congratulations:  Congratulations to our Girls’ Basketball team who made it into the round of 16 in the Class AAAA state playoffs, only falling to the #3 ranked team (Jefferson High School). The Jefferson coach made it a point to tell Coach Latoya Brown how impressive our Lady Lions were. Thank you ladies for a great season!  Congratulations to Brooke Worley and Sydney Keller who medaled at the recent Henry County Regional Science and Engineering Fair, as well as being awarded the Air Force Award.
