WILL ROGERS AND AMERICAN POLITICS reveals how Oklahoma native Will Rogers emerged as one of the most powerful political voices in the United States. The Emmy-winning documentary charts Rogers' impact on American politics through rare archival film footage, photos and documents, and interviews with Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, actor Mickey Rooney, Cherokee Chief Chad Smith, comedian Lewis Black, former Oklahoma Gov. George Nigh, Rogers' grandniece and scholars. Bill Kurtis, former CBS news anchor and host of A&E's American Justice and Cold Case Files, narrates.

Hypertension The episode begins with a hot location intro... literally! The July temperature was 117 as host David Jackson stands atop 60 million tons of reflectively white sodium chloride at Bristol Dry Lake in the Mojave Desert. Emphasizing the importance of reducing salt in our cooking and eliminating 'hidden' sodium from our diets overall, "The Salt Show" consists of two exemplary, in-kitchen recipes, no salt chicken chili verde and low sodium orange sesame chicken. David also visits Uig Lodge & Smokehouse in the Outer Hebrides in Scotland to learn all about the pros and cons of salt-cured smoked salmon. Dr. Philip Shaver, founder of Desert Cardiology at Eisenhower Medical Center is interviewed on why a low sodium diet helps combat hypertension and improves heart health, while resident dietician Elizabeth Kelse illustrates where, how and why - from a food perspective - we should shed sodium from our meals. Finally, David swaps his chef's knife for hiking boots during the "Earn What You Eat" segment in order to trek the arid Kelso Sand Dunes in the Mojave Desert and illustrate the importance of maintaining an active lifestyle as we age. Time Magazine's cover proclaimed "Justice At Last," and she received unanimous Senate approval. Born in 1930 in El Paso, Texas, O'Connor grew up on a cattle ranch in Arizona in an era when women were expected to become homemakers. After graduating near the top of her class at Stanford Law School, she could not convince a single law firm to interview her, so she turned to volunteer work and public service. A Republican, she served two terms in the Arizona state senate, then became a judge on the state court of appeals. During her 25 years on the Supreme Court, O'Connor was the critical swing vote on cases involving some of the 20th century's most controversial issues, including abortion, affirmative action - and she was the tiebreaker on Bush v. Gore. Forty years after her confirmation, this biography recounts the life of a pioneering woman who both reflected and shaped an era. (Next Air 09/14/2021 01:00AM)

Completed in 1965, it was originally proposed to help mitigate flooding in Pittsburgh, almost 200 miles downriver, but the 27-mile reservoir that formed behind it inundated vast tracts of the Seneca Indians' ancestral lands, forcing their removal in breach of the United States' oldest treaty then in effect. The film looks at the Seneca Nation's fight to protect its sovereignty against the U.S. government's Indian termination policy and overwhelming political and economic forces driving the post-WWII boom.
