Its aim is to demonstrate how the Catholic Church, its hierarchy and its priests acted as relevant patriots who did not hesitate to stand up to the occupying forces and express their rejection of their procedures. Both the domestic Catholic camp and the ties abroad towards the Holy See and its representation will be analysed. There will also be presented the personalities of priests, who became the victims of the Nazi rampage in the Czech lands at the end of the study. The basic method consists of a descriptive analysis that takes into account the comparative approach of the spiritual life before and after the occupation. Furthermore, the analytical-synthetic method will be used, combined with the subsequent interpretation of the findings. An additional method, not always easy to apply, is hermeneutics, i.e., the interpretation of socio-historical phenomena in an effort to reveal the uniqueness of the analysed texts and sources and emphasize their singularity in the cultural and spiritual development of Czech Church history in the first half of the 20th century.

International Symposium on Flash Floods in Wadi Systems ISFF The Second International Symposium on Flash Floods in Wadi Systems (2nd ISFF) Disaster Risk Reduction and Water Harvesting in the Arab Region 25-27 October 2016 Technische Universität Berlin, Campus El Gouna El Gouna, Egypt Supported by: Global Alliance of Disaster Research Institutes (GADRI) Water Resources Research Center (WRRC) Disaster Prevention Research Institute Kyoto University International Symposium on Flash Floods in Wadi Systems ISFF The Second International Symposium on Flash Floods in Wadi Systems (2nd ISFF) In recent years, flash floods in Wadi Systems have caused severe damages, especially in the Arab regions. Human life, infrastructure such as roads and buildings as well as the environment are endangered and have been heavily destroyed. Flash floods are caused by extreme weather conditions, their occurrence is highly random and the associated problems are expected to increase in the near future due to climate change. On the one hand, there is an urgent need for flash flood protection and risk reduction, on the other hand, this rainwater can also be considered as a new resource for water harvesting. Finding solutions to these challenging problems requires close collaboration between scientists – established as well as young ones, - practitioners, and stakeholders from federal and public organizations. So we encourage you to contribute to the development of future solutions and to widen your own expertise and profile by attending the international symposium. This event is the second in a new series of annual International Symposia on Flash Floods in Wadi Systems. Furthermore this symposium is supported by the Water Resources Research Center (WRRC) and the Global Alliance of Disaster Research Institutes (GARDI) of the Disaster Prevention Research Institute (DPRI), Kyoto University, Japan, Deutsches Wissenschaftszentrum Kairo (DWZ) and UNESCO Office Cairo.

  • Medical Geography in Egypt: As an Interdisciplinary Subfield
ISSN 2239-978X Journal of Educational and Social Research Vol. 3 (5) August 2013 Medical Geography in Egypt: As an Interdisciplinary Subfield Mohamed Nour Eldin Ibrahim Elsabawy Professor of Medical Geography Faculty of Arts, Minia University, Minia ,Egypt. Doi:10.5901/jesr.2013.v3n5p109 1. Introduction Medical geography studies geographical factors concerned with cause and effect of health and disease. So its task not to study diseases only, but places affected with such maladies, and not studies health only but Areal differentiations in health Care patterns. This paper aims to study the importance of medical geography as an interdisciplinary sub- discipline or subfield in Human and Social geography and attempt to follow up, analyze and classify studies of Medical geography in Egypt, since the existence of that branch in the beginning of 1980s to 2010, to observe the development of these studies. This development undoubtedly is necessary because the concept, terrain, and the range of this subfield were not understandable in the beginning of studies. So, many researchers preferred choosing general topics in the first time. Gradually, they have been concentrating, deliberating on subjects related to some diseases which correlate to Egyptian geographical environment. Explicitly, we can decide that the studies of medical geography in Egypt seem to be more general and more comprehensive especially in the period from 1986 until 1996. Thereafter till 2010, studies have dealt with specific topics and new methods and materials of Medical Geography. Medical Geography as a subfield depending upon many systems, polices and Sciences e.g. medicine, engineering, soil, Geology, Biology, Economy, Politics, History, and psychology.

  • Mission: Apostolic Nuncio in Prague Or More Precisely Czech, Perception of the Holy See
Marek Šmíd Marek In this book, the author gets to the heart of Czechoslovak-Vatican relations, the personalities of the apostolic nuncios, and their further activities. Thanks to Vatican records—in as far as they allow—the author has been able to penetrate the minds, attitudes, and moods of the relevant apostolic nuncios. The richness and diversity of Czech Cover archives has enabled him to understand the | difficult relations between the Vatican and the Czechoslovak state, and the Czechoslovak, Prague in Nuncio Apostolic Mission: or more precisely Czech, perception of the Holy See. Finally, the available German and Austrian archives offer an interesting perspective on Czechoslovak-Vatican relations from the outside—from the point of view of non-participating and yet involved parties.
