October is the four pillars issue. (Well, so is every issue, but ...) Participatory democracy Readers will know by now that the Vasse by-election was a considerable success, increasing our vote from the state election result in 2013 of 10% to 18% (with almost 80% of the vote counted), almost doubling our vote and improving on our federal election results of 15% for booths in Vasse. This result was achieved by our phenomenally clear-headed, even-tempered and hard- working candidate, Michael Baldock, and a brilliant strategic and experienced campaign manager, Giz Watson (who’s not a bad cook, either!). Peace and non-violence October is also non-violence month. We complete our two-part story on the beginning of The Greens (WA) with Jo Vallentine's parliamentary experience essay.
