YEE HONG COMMUNITY WELLNESS FOUNDATION

Yee Hong Community Wellness Foundation is the charitable and fundraising arm of the Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care. Since 1994, Yee Hong has offered an expansive continuum of care to Chinese seniors as well as long-term care services to seniors from various cultural backgrounds, including South Asian, Japanese, Vietnamese, Filipino, Korean, Indonesian and Portuguese.

The Centres reach over 26,000 seniors and families annually across the Greater Area via various outreach programs and services. As the largest non-profit long-term care provider in , Yee Hong operates 805 long-term care beds, manages 402 social housing units and 308 life lease units. THE CAUSE

The fast-aging population in our communities means Yee Hong needs to expand its services and programs. In Spring 2020, a 10-bed residential hospice is scheduled to be operational at the Yee Hong Scarborough-Finch Centre. The hospice will be the first of its kind in Scarborough and also the first to be built by the Chinese community in Canada. Additionally, Yee Hong is embarking on a capital campaign for three new centres with over 800 total beds, which will be built in partnership with Trillium Health Partners, Indus Community Services and the Social Services Network in Markham, Mississauga and Scarborough within the next four years.

YEE HONG SCARBOROUGH HOSPICE • Scheduled to be operational by Spring of 2020 • First hospice in Scarborough and also the first to be built by the Chinese community in Canada • The 10-room hospice will offer compassionate care to individuals who need palliative service and are living with the challenges of a life-limiting illness, providing a home setting where families can spend meaningful time with their loved one while he or she is assisted by Yee Hong’s professional caregivers

NEW YEE HONG CENTRES • Three new Centres to be built in Markham, Mississauga and Scarborough in the next 4 years • A total of 800 new beds will be available to the community – 256 in Markham, 320 in Mississauga and 224 in Scarborough – doubling the number of Yee Hong’s existing long-term care beds 17
