Sponsorshippkg DB2020 V04 YEE HONG COMMUNITY WELLNESS FOUNDATION Yee Hong Community Wellness Foundation is the charitable and fundraising arm of the Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care. Since 1994, Yee Hong has offered an expansive continuum of care to Chinese seniors as well as long-term care services to seniors from various cultural backgrounds, including South Asian, Japanese, Vietnamese, Filipino, Korean, Indonesian and Portuguese. The Centres reach over 26,000 seniors and families annually across the Greater Toronto Area via various outreach programs and services. As the largest non-profit long-term care provider in Ontario, Yee Hong operates 805 long-term care beds, manages 402 social housing units and 308 life lease units. THE CAUSE The fast-aging population in our communities means Yee Hong needs to expand its services and programs. In Spring 2020, a 10-bed residential hospice is scheduled to be operational at the Yee Hong Scarborough-Finch Centre. The hospice will be the first of its kind in Scarborough and also the first to be built by the Chinese community in Canada. Additionally, Yee Hong is embarking on a capital campaign for three new centres with over 800 total beds, which will be built in partnership with Trillium Health Partners, Indus Community Services and the Social Services Network in Markham, Mississauga and Scarborough within the next four years.     RETHINKING TORONTO’S MIDDLE LANDSCAPE: SPACES OF PLANNING, CONTESTATION, AND NEGOTIATION ROBERT SCOTT FIEDLER A DISSERTATION SUBMITTED TO THE FACULTY OF GRADUATE STUDIES IN PARTIAL FULFILMENT OF THE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE DEGREE OF DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY GRADUATE PROGRAM IN GEOGRAPHY YORK UNIVERSITY TORONTO, ONTARIO May 2017 © Robert Scott Fiedler, 2017 Abstract This dissertation weaves together an examination of the concept and meanings of suburb and suburban, historical geographies of suburbs and suburbanization, and a detailed focus on Scarborough as a suburban space within Toronto in order to better understand postwar suburbanization and suburban change as it played out in a specific metropolitan context and locale. With Canada and the United States now thought to be suburban nations, critical suburban histories and studies of suburban problems are an important contribution to urbanistic discourse and human geographical scholarship. Though suburbanization is a global phenomenon and suburbs have a much longer history, the vast scale and explosive pace of suburban development after the Second World War has a powerful influence on how “suburb” and “suburban” are represented and understood. One powerful socio-spatial imaginary is evident in discourses on planning and politics in Toronto: the city-suburb or urban-suburban divide. An important contribution of this dissertation is to trace out how the city-suburban divide and meanings attached to “city” and “suburb” have been integral to the planning and politics that have shaped and continue to shape Scarborough and Toronto. The research employs an investigative approach influenced by Michel Foucault’s critical and effective histories and Bent Flyvbjerg’s methodological guidelines for phronetic social science.

We have over 70 member companies comprising over 2,000 employees in highly skilled jobs and the sector has attracted over $0.5 billion of investment in the past 2 years -- and is growing. But this is only the tip of the iceberg. Hydrogen energy will benefit millions of Canadians and help scores of industries decarbonize.     Notice of Motion: GTA West Corridor (413 Highway) Moved by Markham Regional Councillor Jim Jones Seconded by Councillor Ward 7 Khalid Usman GTA WEST CORRIDOR (413 HIGHWAY) At the April 21st Development Services Committee meeting, Committee members will be requested not to support the GTA West Corridor (413 Highway) and Transmission Corridor by adopting the following Motion: I) WHEREAS Ontario farming and food processing together employ one million persons and generate over $35 billion economic benefits annually; and II) WHEREAS the Greater Golden Horseshoe is the third largest agricultural producer in North America after California and Chicago; and III) WHEREAS the Province of Ontario is proposing to develop the GTA West Corridor by razing 2,000 acres of pristine farmlands, some of which are Class A and Class B farmlands and many of which will immediately cease to be farmed and other lands, over time, which will be developed for non-agricultural uses; and IV) WHEREAS the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs has not completed an Agricultural Impact Assessment for the GTA West Corridor; and V) WHEREAS the proposed GTA Corridor will lead to greater demand for development with more than 33,000 acres of Whitebelt lands in the Greater Golden Horseshoe (Caledon and Vaughan) leading to greater urban sprawl and development that is not supportive of transit investment; and VI) WHEREAS the proposed GTA West Corridor will cut across 85 waterways, and destroy protected Greenbelt lands including 7 entire woodlots, 220 important wetlands and
