The crowd is so uniformly dressed, in casually smart clothes and expensive sunglasses, that an out• sider might assume invitations to this event had been sent out weeks ago. Most people are clutching plastic ags on white sticks. Some of them car• ry children wearing rosettes in red, white and green. On a temporary stage a succession of speakers talk about the country’s glori• ous history. Italy has taken the day o to celebrate its 150th anniversary as a nation. Treviso’s mayor, Gian Paolo Gobbo, is not celebrating. The desk in his oce faces a large painting of Venice in the style of Canaletto. This has some signicance for Mr Gobbo, who has spent his political career ghting to resus• citate the Republic of Venice, which nally expired in 1797 after a long illness. Il commento di Ferrero (FdI) 05 Luglio 2021 Michele de Pascale, che si ricandida sindaco alle prossime amministrative di ottobre, è in 76esima posizione con un gradimento del 50% e perde il 3,3% rispetto alle elezioni del 2016. Mentre Luca Zaia e Antonio Decaro si confermano anche nel 2021 gli amministratori locali dal più elevato indice di gradimento in Italia, rispettivamente con il 74% dei consensi per il presidente della Regione Veneto e con il 65% per il sindaco di Bari. E' quanto emerge nella rilevazione annuale realizzata da Noto Sondaggi per Il Sole 24 Ore pubblicata sul Sole 24 Ore. Il sindaco di Forlì, Gianluca Zattini, è 53esimo col 53,1% (-0,4%); Andrea Gnassi, sindaco di Rimini, è in 42esima posizione con il 57% (-1,5%). "Il 50% di oggi - commenta Alberto Ferrero, portavoce provinciale di Fratelli d’Italia - potrebbe anche diventare il 49,9% fra tre mesi, quando a Ravenna ci saranno le elezioni amministrative. In effetti se consideriamo quanto avvenuto nei negli ultimi 5 anni è facilmente comprensibile questo calo, c’è da stupirsi, invece, che, ad oggi, abbia ancora un gradimento del 50%. A nostro avviso, infatti, l’amministrazione de Pascale è da bocciare. Pensiamo alle promesse, a questo punto da marinaio, di 5 anni fa: il beach stadium non è stato fatto; il nuovo palazzetto dello sport, nel cortile di quello attuale, sul quale noi abbiamo molte perplessità, è bloccato; il progetto di riqualificazione della Caserma è alquanto fumoso; i fondali del Candiano non sono stati scavati; il parco marittimo è fermo; la nuova piscina comunale non è stata fatta; la tangenziale nessuno l’ha vista e la lista potrebbe proseguire.

    School of Economics and Finance The Political Legacy of Entertainment TV Ruben Durante, Paolo Pinotti and Andrea Tesei Working Paper No. 762 December 201 5 ISSN 1473-0278 The Political Legacy of Entertainment TV∗ Ruben Durantey Paolo Pinottiz Andrea Teseix July 2015 Abstract We investigate the political impact of entertainment television in Italy over the past thirty years by exploiting the staggered intro- duction of Silvio Berlusconi's commercial TV network, Mediaset, in the early 1980s. We find that individuals in municipalities that had access to Mediaset prior to 1985 - when the network only featured light entertainment programs - were significantly more likely to vote for Berlusconi's party in 1994, when he first ran for office. This effect persists for almost two decades and five elections, and is es- pecially pronounced for heavy TV viewers, namely the very young and the old. We relate the extreme persistence of the effect to the relative incidence of these age groups in the voting population, and explore different mechanisms through which early exposure to en- tertainment content may have influenced their political attitudes. Unless otherwise specified, all references to deliverables contained in this contract are for the 18 month period from 1 September 2009. 2.2 The parties shall meet every three months to review progress and re-examine priorities on a flexible basis every six months to plan ahead. 2.3The parties shall sit down no less than 60 days prior to the end of the Term to discuss and agree the details of a further Agreement. 3 STRATEGIC COUNSEL, PLANNING AND ADVISORY SERVICES 3.1 FBC shall make available the services of John Defterios (JD), Matthieuse Coombes-Olney (MCO), Eckart Sagar (ES), Patrizia Marin (PM), and Alan Friedman (AF) to act as principal advisors in the management of their Strategic Communication and International Outreach strategy. During the Term, JD, MCO, and AF shall proactively manage this project and shall be in SISF for the purposes of media planning and strategic meetings at or before the beginning of every quarter. 3.2 FBC will also provide a team of media and public affairs specialists to assist with the placement of interviews on and around summits, bi lateral meetings and events as agreed. 3.3 FBC shall organise itself to enable a rapid deployment for ad hoc interventions according to demand and shall, subject to agreement, accelerate the timing of the work performed under this contract as required by SISF.

    COUNTRIES AT THE CROSSROADS Countries at the Crossroads 2012: Malaysia Introduction Malaysia has over 28 million people, of whom approximately 63 percent are ethnic Malay, 25 percent Chinese, 7 percent Indian, and 4 percent Ibans and Kadazan-Dusun.1 Much of this diversity was created through the British formation of an extractive colonial economy, with the “indigenous” Malay community ordered into small holdings and rice cultivation, while the “non-Malays” were recruited from China and India into tin mining and plantation agriculture. Further, in preparing the territory for independence in 1957, the British fashioned a polity that was formally democratic, but would soon be encrusted by authoritarian controls. Throughout the 1960s, greater urbanization brought many Malays to the cities, where they encountered the comparative prosperity of the non-Malays. They perceived the multiethnic coalition that ruled the country, anchored by the United Malays National Organization (UMNO), but including the Malayan Chinese Association (MCA) and the Malayan Indian Congress (MIC), as doing little to enhance their living standards. At the same time, many non-Malays grew alienated by the discrimination they faced in accessing public sector resources. Thus, as voters in both communities swung to opposition parties in an election held in May 1969, the UMNO-led coalition, known as the Alliance, was gravely weakened. Shortly afterward, Malays and Chinese clashed in the capital, Kuala Lumpur, sparking ethnic rioting known as the May 13th incident. Two years of emergency rule followed during which parliament was closed. As the price for reopening parliament in 1971, UMNO imposed new curbs on civil liberties, thereby banning any questioning of the Malay “special rights” that are enshrined in constitution’s Article 153.
