Dear Contestant, The pageant is quickly approaching, and we hope you’re looking forward to a great pageant! Included in this packet you will find: • A pageant itinerary • A letter regarding the parent ZOOM meeting • Information regarding the Top 5 interview and a form for your Top 5 contestant question. Please bring the form with your contestant question to registration! • A COVID Release Waiver that you must sign and return before the pageant. If you are under 18 years of age this form must be signed by a Parent or Guardian. • Order forms to purchase a pageant DVD and/or photos. • A link to purchase Contestant Buttons (a great way for your fans to show support or a souvenir of your pageant experience) and a MISS USA T-Shirt! The deadline for ordering Contestant Buttons is April 28th. T-shirts will also be available for purchase at registration. John Vannatta, the Executive State Director, will go over details about the pageant, the scoring procedure, and introduce you to other staff and pageant volunteers. Park in the back parking lot and enter through the glass doors. Please carefully review the weekend itinerary. If you have any questions, call or email the pageant office. Miss will need to be at registration at 8:00 am on Saturday, May 1st and Teen’s will need to be at registration at 8:00 am on Sunday, May 2nd. Please arrive with hair/make-up complete and dressed ready for your Judges Interview. Before your Interview your will take a headshot photo and a full length interview photo. You will also record a video introduction to be played at the beginning of both shows. As always, if you have a conflict with the arrival/registration time, please contact us as soon as possible. A hotel room will be provided if needed along with 3 tickets to the Teen Presentation and Coronation shows. The new titleholder will also have her first official photo shoot on Monday. We will provide hair, make-up and some wardrobe for the shoot. This will take at least half of the day Monday, and is NOT optional. John Vannatta, the Executive Director of the Miss Missouri USA and Miss Missouri Teen USA Pageant, will conduct the meeting and discuss the competition, the program, and answer any of your questions. This is a great opportunity to get to know the directors, and meet other parents. It’s also a good way to learn about the judging procedures and what to expect if your daughter is selected as Miss Missouri USA or Miss Missouri Teen USA for 2021. Attending the meeting is optional, but we encourage you to attend, if possible. Our contestants are stepping out of their comfort zones in an effort to make a difference in other people’s lives and their own. Please applaud them for their efforts, and always give them positive encouragement. Regards, Vanbros and Associates Staff Dear Contestant, This is a recap of how finals night will unfold. As the pageant progresses past preliminary competition, the field of contestants will be narrowed to our group of semifinalists, and then 5 finalists. The semifinalists will compete in Swimsuit (MISS) or Athletic Wear (TEEN) and Evening Gown Competitions in order to narrow the field to 5 finalists. The 5 final contestants will then participate in an on-stage interview competition. Each of the 5 contestants will receive 2 questions. First they will receive a "contestant question." Each of you will need to submit a question that you would like to ask of a top-5 finalist. You should bring your question to registration and turn it in then. Be sure to include your name and title on your question. The staff will review all of the questions and select the best 10 questions.! On final night, should the author of any of those 10 questions make the final 5, her question will be removed from the pile. Then, 5 of the remaining questions will be chosen to give to the emcee. Each of the final five will draw one question to answer. She will be told which of her fellow contestants submitted the question. Please give due consideration to the question you ask. This is your chance to participate in determining what questions the top-5 will have to answer. The second question to be asked will be the traditional "judges question." Each of the five judges will submit a random question, and each of the top-5 will randomly draw one of the judges' questions that they will then answer. This process will be explained again during orientation, so if you have questions feel free to ask for clarification at that time. In the meantime, please think about various questions and formulate opinions; but speak from your own heart with your own words! Also, please don't forget to write a question that you want asked to a member of the top-5. Be sure to label it with your name and your title. Have fun, and Good Luck! John M. St. Louis, MO) – Twenty-five-year-old Joye Forrest has been crowned MISS MISSIOURI USA and will represent her home state in the 70th annual MISS USA competition on November 29, 2921 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. “Joye has accomplished more in her 25 short years than most people do in a lifetime,” shares her mom/manager, Sheila Forrest. Forrest began dancing at age 3, pursuing her dream her entire life, hitting a few “firsts” along the way. She was the first African American to win MISS TEEN MISSOURI 2017, received the Sharon Disney Lund scholarship (named for Walt’s daughter) and attended the California Institute for the Arts, the number 3 school for the arts in the world. Forrest graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, winning or placing in several California pageants along the way, including 4th Runner-up MISS CALIFORNIA 2017. Post-graduation, Forrest danced professionally as a Laker Girl for the Los Angeles Lakers, in addition to appearing in countless music videos and commercials. “I’ve never taken anything for granted,” says Forrest, who credits her mother and award-winning actor/choreographer/director/producer, Debbie Allen for encouraging her to always “go for it.” College gave Forrest the opportunity to spend more than a semester in South Korea, Ghana, Japan, Australia and Spain, working with different dance companies to teach dance – a universal language – to communities that needed more of everything.

    MISS LOUISIANA TEEN USA, KATHERINE HAIK CROWNED MISS TEEN USA 2015 AT ATLANTIS, PARADISE ISLAND RESORT IN THE BAHAMAS New York, NY – August 24, 2015 – The Miss Universe Organization announced today that Katherine Haik was crowned Miss Teen USA 2015 this past Saturday at the beautiful Atlantis, Paradise Island Resort in the Bahamas on August 22, 2015. The 15-year-old winner is from Franklinton, Louisiana. The 2015 MISS TEEN USA® Pageant was streamed live on www.missteenusa.com. Katherine Haik is a sophomore at Franklinton High School where she maintains a 4.0 GPA and was recently selected as a Student Council Representative. Inspired by her grandmother, Katherine has been playing the piano for five years and has incorporated art class into her regular curriculum. A lover of all sports, Katherine has been playing softball and basketball for the better part of her life. As a passionate dancer from a young age, Katherine is on The Dancer’s Edge competition team and her high school’s dance team. Since she began modeling, Katherine has participated in New Orleans Fashion Week for four seasons, modeled for Sherri Hill, and has done print work for many designers. Throughout her reign, she will continue her work with children who have developmental disabilities. Hosting this year’s pageant was Miss USA 2013 Erin Brady Capasso, star of ABC Family’s new reality show “Startup U” and Nick Teplitz, comedian and TV host. The presentation show, which took place Friday, August 21st, was hosted by K. Lee Graham, Miss Teen USA 2014 and Nick Teplitz.

As “T he Word” Turns November 2008 IWA Volleyball Wins 3rd Place in State Incarnate Word Academy Varsity Volleyball Team competed in the Missouri Class 4 State Tournament in Kansas City, November 6th and 7th. The Red Knights competed against Glendale High School, Lee Summit West and St. Joseph’s Academy. The team ended their season with a record of 30 wins and 10 losses. “I am happy with the overall outcome of the season. The girls worked hard and represented Incarnate Word Academy well. They made everyone proud,” said Assistant Volleyball Coach Jamie Wright ’03. Congratulations Volleyball on another great season! Alumna Crowned Miss Missouri Alumna Stacey Smith was recently crowned Miss Missouri. As the reigning Miss Florissant USA, Stacey competed in the 2009 Miss Missouri USA Pageant on the weekend of October 31st. Stacey is a member of the Class of 2004. She has a Marketing degree from St. Louis University and is currently the Sales Events Director at Chaumette Vineyards and Winery. Congratulations Stacey and good luck! Students Send their Shoes Abroad The Incarnate Word Academy school community recently participated in a shoe drive for the children of Belize. The project was organized by the St. Louis Archdiocesan Mission Office. IWA collected over 90 pairs of gently used or new shoes.
