Thank you for respecting the hardwork of this author. About the Book Narendra Modi, the present Prime Minister of India, is a true blue RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh or National Volunteers Organization) swayamsevak or volunteer. More importantly, he is a product of prachaarak system, a unique institution of RSS. More than his election campaigns, his conduct after becoming the Prime Minister really tells us how a responsible RSS worker and prachaarak responds to any responsibility he is entrusted with. His rise is also illustrative example of submission by author in this book that RSS has been able to design a system that can create ‘extraordinary achievers out of ordinary people’. When the first edition of Secrets of RSS was released, air was thick with motivated propaganda about ‘Saffron terror’ and RSS was the favourite whipping boy as the face of ‘Hindu fascism’. Now as the second edition is ready for release, environment has transformed radically.

RSS is the ancestor and leader of a large number of organizations called Sangh Parivar (RSS family) that have a presence in all aspects of Indian society. RSS was founded on September 27, 1925. As of 2014, it has a membership of 5-6 million. The initial incentive was to teach character through Hindu discipline and to unite the Hindu community to form a Hindu Rashra (Hindu nation). The organization promotes the ideals of supporting Indian culture and the values of civil society and promotes the ideology of the Hindu community in order to strengthen the Hindu community. • Widening Horizons
WIDENING HORIZONS: 01_Preface Preface This little book fulfils a long-left need. The sphere of influence of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh has been steadily expanding in every direction, especially during the last couple of decades. Consequently, there are frequent requests for an authentic but not-too-elaborate book presenting in outline the background, genesis, basic philosophy, methodology, progress and the main thrust of the Sangh. It would be impossible to provide all the relevant information about the Sangh even in a book ten times this size. However, we hope that the present book, though limited in scope, might serve as an adequate introduction to the Sangh. -Sahitya Sangama Angirasa Shravana Poornima (Raksha Bandhan) 13-8-1992 RSS : The Mission The Hindu culture is the life-breath of Hindusthan. It is therefore clear that if Hindusthan is to be protected, we should first nourish the Hindu culture. If the Hindu culture perishes in Hindusthan itself, and if the Hindu society ceases to exist, it will hardly be appropriate to refer to the mere geographical entity that remains as Hindusthan. Mere geographical lumps do not make a nation. The entire society should be in such a vigilant and organized condition that no one would dare to cast an evil eye on any of our points of honour. Strength, it should be remembered, comes only through organization. It is therefore the duty of every Hindu to do his best to consolidate the Hindu society. The Sangh is just carrying out this supreme task. The present fate of the country cannot be changed unless lakhs of young men dedicate their entire lifetime for that cause.
