7th EUROPEAN RAMSAR MEETING 27 -30 September 2011 TRNAVA- SLOVAKIA TRANSPORT INFORMATION The 7th European Ramsar meeting will take place at the hotel Holiday Inn in Trnava, Slovakia. Trnava is situated in Western Slovakia, about 50 km from Bratislava airport and 120 km from Vienna airport. Trnava is easily accessible by car (close to highway D1). However, if you will travel by public transport, please use the information below to help you in planning your trip to the meeting. FROM BRATISLAVA AIRPORT TO BRATISLAVA MAIN TRAIN STATION Take bus from Bratislava airport to Bratislava train station (Hlavná stanica) Location: Bus stop in front of arrival hall in Bratislava airport Bus number: 61 Schedule: bus goes every 20 minutes each day; get off the bus at the last stop called Hlavná stanica Ticket purchase: available to buy in ticket machine, 60 minute ticket, cost 0,7 EUR (the price might slightly increase until Sept.), estimated time of travelling is 30 minutes FROM BRATISLAVA MAIN TRAIN STATION TO TRNAVA_ BY TRAIN Bratislava has international train connections with neighbouring countries ( such as Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Ukraine) and you may choose this way of transport (via Vienna, Prague, Budapest, etc.). [1.] take train from Bratislava train station (Hlavná stanica) to Trnava Ticket purchase: you can buy ticket at ticket counter in the hall of Bratislava train station, it is possible to pay either by cash or by credit card Tickets destination: buy ticket to the destination called TRNAVA, average price about 2 EUR Schedule of trains: depending on your arrival time (see timetable below) Please note: It is recommended to use the express train (IC, R, Zr) for which the journey lasts about 30 minutes; for slow trains (Os) it is about 50 minutes. For IC trains it is obligatory to buy a seat reservation which costs 1,5 EUR more than the slow train. The easiest way how to get to Bratislava is to take bus from terminal in Vienna international airport. There are regular buses operating from Vienna airport to Bratislava bus station [1.] take bus from Vienna airport to Bratislava bus station (Mlynské Nivy) Location: Bus stop in front of arrival hall in Vienna airport (close to the exit) Bus number: 1195 provided by Slovak lines from Vienna airport (Flughafen Wien) to Bratislava bus station (Mlynské Nivy) Schedule: bus goes every 30 minutes each day, get off the bus at the stop called Bratislava bus station, Mlynské Nivy, to see the bus schedule click here Ticket purchase: available to buy directly from the bus driver or at the ticket office at the exit of the airport arrival hall, ticket costs 10 EUR, estimated time of travelling is 1 hour [2.] take a bus from Bratislava bus station to Trnava Ticket purchase: Buses to Trnava have no numbers. It is necessary to come to the departure platform 15 minutes before the departure time at the latest, please see the table below. You have to buy ticket from bus driver when entering the bus; it is possible to pay only cash. Tickets destination: buy ticket to the destination called TRNAVA, average price about 3 EUR, estimated time of travelling is 1 hour. Please contact FUN taxi +421 905 916 777 or City taxi Bratislava +421 905 717 017. The average price of taxi is 1.16 EUR/km. FROM TRNAVA TRAIN AND BUS STATION TO THE HOTEL HOLIDAY INN AND THE HOTEL BARBAKAN Trnava train station and bus station are located next to each other. To get to the hotels you can take bus number 1 and 2 from the train station and get off at the stop Zelený kríčok. Buses operate regularly every few minutes and it only takes 7 minutes from the train station. Tickets are bought from the bus driver when entering the bus. The price for a ticket is 0,70 EUR. After getting out of the bus you pass Horné bašty street and turn right to Hornopotočná street where Holiday Inn is situated (see map provided). However it is also possible to walk from the train station to both hotels. This should take about 20 minutes (see map). Alternatively, you can take a taxi from the train station or call to order Trnava taxi on +421 33 16 777 or SK TAXI Trnava +421 33 16 444. FROM THE HOTEL BARBAKAN TO THE HOTEL HOLIDAY INN If you are staying in the hotel Barbakan it takes 10 minutes by foot to get to the hotel Holiday Inn, where the 7th European Ramsar meeting will take place. When you come out of the hotel Barbakan go left along the Štefanikova street then turn left to the square Trojičné námestie. Pass through Trojičné námestie and turn left to the Pekárska Street. Afterwards turn to the right to Hornopotočná Street and pass along the street to reach the Holiday Inn Hotel.     - the oldest free royal city in Slovakia, the synonym „The small Roma“ due to it´s spiritual and cultural tradition Trnava coat of arms Trnava region History 1211 – The first written reference of Trnava 1238 – Ugrian king Belo IV. awarded Trnava the privileges of free royal town and Trnava became the first free royal town on the territory of present Slovakia. Trnava belonged to the biggest towns in the middle Europe in the 13th century. 1347 – The oldest seal of Trnava was justified 1543 – Ostrihom Archbishopric and canonry moved to Trnava and the town became for nearly three hundred years cultural and religious centre of Ugrian empire. 1635 - Cardinal Peter Pázmany established Trnava University, which was the only one university in the Ugrian empire at the time of its activity. 1831 – The first stone Slovak theatre was build in Trnava. 1846 – The first horse railway in Hungary was installed into operation, line Bratislava – Trnava. 1977 – Establishment of the Slovak Clerical Province with the seat in Trnava 1987 – Proclamation of historic centre as the City monumental zone 1992 – Re-opening of Trnava University 1996 – Trnava became the regional seat 2003 – Signing of contract on the building-up the factory PSA – Peugeot Citroën 2003 – The Pope Ján Pavol II. visited Trnava. Historical monuments A monumental city fortification town hall and town tower Cathedral Church of St. John the Baptist (Cathedral -National cultural monument) Temple of St. Nicolas (Basilica Minor) Trnava University buildings Archbishop´s palace as well as many town houses and squares with sculptures can be found in Trnava. They all represent typical features of the royal town, that became also the seat of the archbishop and Trnava University.

Bratislava otvára speváckym zborom počas festivalu svoje najkrajšie priestory na zborové koncerty a vystúpenia a pozýva všetkých spoločne prežiť festivalový program plný krásnej hudby. Verím, že z Bratislavy budete aj vy odchádzať plní nadšenia a pekných zážitkov a že v budúcnosti sa k nám radi vrátite.
