BY SEAN WALULIK 6WDৼ:ULWHU Amidst nationwide calls for justice, students of color at Xavier have begun to speak out about instances of per- ceived discrimination within academic advising. Discrimination in academ- ic advising takes the form of advisors, consciously or un- consciously allowing beliefs about a particular race, gen- der, socioeconomic status or another group to alter the rec- ommendations that they make to students. These preconceived no- tions may result in minority groups disproportionately facing problems with academ- ic advisors suggesting that they take an easier course load, implying doubt in their ability to be successful.
