28 to 30 June 2019

/ free event All venues are open 11am - 5pm each day ILKLEY ART TRAIL 2019 Welcome to the 2019 Ilkley Art Trail programme. We made the decision to move the Trail to the end of June partly to see if better weather makes a difference to visitor numbers but also June allows us to access venues that normally are being used by the Literature Festival. Let us know what you think about the change of date.

Ilkley Arts has had a busy 18 months since the last Trail. Most significantly we have moved to the Manor House estate and are based in two spaces in the cottages adjacent to the Manor House. This has allowed us to create a new beautiful studio space in No 4 Castle Yard and a new venture linked to the new Ilkley Arts Hub scheme. Several exhibitions have been held in the studio space and a wide range of workshops from bunting making to ceramics, jewellery making to life drawing.

We have opened the Solar Gallery in the Manor House and set up a new membership scheme for people who love art.

So, to the Trail. There are over 50 artists exhibiting in the Trail this year and the quality of their work is as high as ever. The programme will also feature fringe events happening before workshops during and some fantastic art events happening after the Trail - so make sure you put the programme somewhere safe.

We have worked with our key designer – Massimiliano Belli - since he was as student at School of Art. He has now set up his own design company ( F ro m ab road ) with his partner and we are delighted to supported his up and coming business venture.

Our volunteers play a key role in making the Trail happen and so a big thank you goes to all of them. We have also continued to enjoy great support from all kinds of businesses and individuals – our thanks go to all of them too.

Ilkley has a thriving and developing art scene and one that we need to nurture and celebrate to help it thrive.

We hope you will enjoy the Trail.

BOARD OF TRUSTEES FOR ILKLEY ARTS: Sarah Thomas (Chair), Jeremy Lewis, Libby Jubb, Joanna Tinker.

1 MANY THANKS WE ARE GRATEFUL TO ALL THE ORGANISATIONS AND INDIVIDUALS WHO SUPPORT ILKLEY ARTS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.

2 BE A MEMBER JOIN ILKLEY ARTS HUB MEMBERS TO CREATE A VIBRANT CREATIVE HUB FOR EVERYONE INTERESTED IN THE ARTS

In 2017, Ilkley arts established an art studio in Back Nelson Rd. With the Manor House being transferred to the Ilkley Manor House Trust last year, we took the opportunity to move the studio to 4 Castle Yard, one of the Manor House cottages. We have also entered into a partnering arrangement with Ilkley Manor House Trust with the intention of creating a heritage and arts hub for the town.

Art School Ilkley is now very well established at the studio. We offer the studio for rental by artists and other groups for workshops. The Solar Gallery has launched at the Manor House. We are renovating an additional collaborative space for use by members.

We have also launched a membership scheme. If, like us, you love Ilkley and love the arts, then you can join the Ilkley Arts Hub and help us create a vibrant creative hub for everyone. £5 per month. Exclusive benefits. See website for details. www.ilkleyarts.org NEW PARTNERSHIP

Ilkley Arts move to its new premises in the grounds of the Manor House has allowed an important emerging partnership to develop with Manor House Trust.

Most significantly the old education room in Cottage No 4 has been turned into the beautiful Ilkley Arts studio that now is available for hire and for art lovers to attend workshop and activities and exhibitions that are happening in the space.

Over the coming months Ilkley Arts will work in collaboration with the Manor House Trust to support a range of art and creative activities in the House and courtyard.

3 Situated in one of the cottages, adjacent to the beautiful Manor House, lies Ilkley Arts Studio.

It is a light spacious studio where artists run workshops and events, including pop up exhibitions, throughout the year as well as being the home of Art School Ilkley.

It is a creative, vibrant and exciting arts hub for Ilkley and is available to hire.

The project with the help of Artists and tutors helps members explore their creativity and develop their artistic and expressive skills, abilities and confidence.

The arts offer a powerful way of enabling our members to learn new skills and ways of communicating, to demonstrate their talents and develop new friendships.

Our exhibition will include work in a range of different styles using several mediums, allowing our members the freedom toexpress themselves.

Please visit our café for a hot drink, soup, sandwich or a slice of ourwonderful cake as you make your way around the trail, located on Bridge lane.

6 ART STALL

An Art stall is being run in the courtyard at the Manor House in aid of the Art Fund which is a national charity that raises money to keep valuable artwork in galleries and museums for all the public to enjoy instead of them being bought by private collectors.

The stall is run by a young art lover who thinks the Art Fund is a great charity to be raising money for “because all people should have easy access to great art. In my opinion, art is crucial to our lives as it asks questions about the world around us”. Handmade gifts from hanging love hearts, to intricate candle holders will be for sale. CHRISTMAS FAIR

Following the last 2 years’ highly successful Fairs in the Manor House another one is planned for Friday 29th November, Saturday 30th November and Sunday 1st December.

Full details will be announced later in the Summer.

31 HOW TO USE THE PROGRAMME VENUES

The numbering of the venues is not in a geographical sequence and we suggest you just create your own trail according to the artists you would like to see. MAP

There is a map showing all the venues in the middle of this programme. There will be large maps at the town hall and Manor House too to help guide you to the venues. There is also a printable version of the map on the website. NB only the main and relevant roads are marked on the maps. Look out for large venue signs, bunting and directional signs to guide you to the venues. Also check the distance between venues if you are walking. OPENING TIMES

All venues are open 11 am – 5 pm on the 3 days of the Trail. PAYMENTS

Some of the artists will have a card reader but some will only be able to take cash or cheque. There are cash machines on Brooke Street, The Grove and in supermarkets. PARKING

It is always best to assume there is no parking at the town centre venues and so you should use the main car parks in the town. The venues on the outskirts of the town or in Addingham will have on street parking. ACCESS INFORMATION

The details about the accessibility of venues and toilet availability will be available at the Town Hall Art Trail information desk and at the Manor House and these details are also on the Ilkley Arts website.

Liability: Ilkley Arts cannot accept responsibility for members of the public visiting artists’ studios or other venues during the Trail or other events run by Ilkley Arts. Visitors to any of the events run by Ilkley Arts do so entirely at their own risk.
