Greystanes Model Farms Holroyd Muirfield Merrylands Northmead Parramatta Pendle Hill WERRINGTON ZONE (WR) Colour: Black/Gold Cambridge Park THE HILLS SPORTS HIGH ZONE (HS) Colyton Colour: Sky Blue/Maroon Cranebrook The Hills Sports High School Erskine Park Kingswood St Clair St Mary’s Senior CONDITIONS AND INSTRUCTIONS The Championships will be conducted under the Constitution and By-Laws of the New south Wales Combined High Schools Association, as specified in Section 6.1 of the N.S.W.C.H.S Handbook. The following exceptions will apply: 1. ENTRIES Each Zone may enter two (2) competitors in each event for the 100m, 200m, 400m, Hurdles and Relay events. Zone winners will compete in Division 1 and Zone placegetters will compete in Division 2. 2. EXTRA ATTEMPTS IN FIELD EVENTS Where applicable, the leading six (6) competitors may have one (1) extra attempt, if time permits. 3. POINT SCORE 1st = 25; 2nd = 20; 3rd = 18; 4th = 16; 5th = 14; 6th = 12; 7th = 10; 8th = 9; 9th = 8; 10th = 7; 11th = 6; 12th = 5; 13th = 4; 14th = 3; 15th = 2; 16th = 1. PLEASE NOTE: for the 100 m, 200 m and 400 m, Hurdles and Relay events, places 1st to 16th will be determined on times across Divisions 1 and 2. Relays/Pentathlon: Double points 4. SWSSA SELECTION In all events where three competitors may be selected, the Selection Committee has the power to nominate the third competitor. This permits the inclusion in the team of outstanding athletes, who, through injury, are unable to compete at the SWSSA Carnival. (As per By-law, 7 section C, of the S.W.S.S.S.A. By-Laws). Zone Conveners must nominate such athletes on the correct form, listing the reason for not competing and relevant information. All such nominations must be received by the SW Convener no later than 11 JULY, 2016. By 9.00am 5. IMPORTANT DETAILS a) First call for all events will be given 20 minutes before the scheduled time. b) All events should start on time. No event should start early. c) Field events will not be held waiting for competitors to compete in track events. This also applies to high jumps – the bar will not be put down. d) The order of competing in field events may be varied to avoid clashes in events, but when the scheduled time has elapsed, the event is concluded. e) Relays: Athletes may compete in any one relay at their own or an older age group. f) Please be conscious of SAFETY. Competitors ONLY…. allowed in the competition area. 6. 4 x 400m RELAY Rules governing this event are as follows: i) Team Composition 1 x Boys’ team 1 x Girls’ team These teams will be selected at the discretion of the Athletics Convener and the selection panel. As no event exists in age sections other than 17+ years, a competitor of any age may be selected in this team. Points will be accredited to Zone score only. ii) Conduct of Race: This event will be conducted under I.A.A.F. Rules, with the first 600 metres run in lanes. Baton change procedure will be as follows: Change 1: In lanes Change 2 and 3: At the finish line in position determined by the appropriate official. 6.1.11 SPIKES (CHS Handbook) All athletes in Hurdles and High Jump events will be required to wear spikes if the track is wet. This is for the safety of all athletes. When worn the maximum length for all track events plus Long Jump and Triple Jump is 7mm. For High Jump and Javelin it is 9mm. All athletes must wear shoes on each foot at all times when competing. 7. INVITATION ATHLETES Zones may nominate (on the correct form provided) a THIRD competitor or team if just cause is given. All such nominations must contain the following information:- Full details of the athlete/team; Reasons why consideration should be given; and Performance(s). All such nominations must be received by the SWSSA Athletics Convener IN WRITING, no later than 9.00am Wednesday 22 July, 2021 Successful nominations will not be awarded points, but will be considered for SWSSA selection and will be awarded certificates if finishing in the top three performances. One complication is that local government areas changed between the 2011 and 2016 Censuses, and while we have time series data available for the current boundaries, these data sets do not include all variables. So, it will take some time for us to work through what’s there, what’s missing, and how to compare across Censuses for those LGAs with changed boundaries.

As we commence a new year I remind our community that we are celebrating the bicentenary of the Marist Brothers. Two hundred years ago Marcellin Champagnat founded a school in rural France to make Jesus known and loved. As we commence a new chapter in Marist life we are challenged to consider how this will look as the Brothers and the lay marist work together to reimagine a new Marist way for the future. It is an exciting time that will bring new life to our Marist project.

For over 130 years, competition has been provided at a variety of levels by willing and dedicated teachers to help the pupils in our schools reach their potential at their selected sport. At this stage, I must thank all those principals, coaches, managers, parents, officials and participants who have strived so hard to make our championships successful. Much of this time is done on a voluntary basis and it is greatly appreciated.

    Getting to OLMC Located on the leafy fringe of Parramatta’s vibrant CBD, OLMC provides students with access to all the arts, culture and other learning facilities of a major Western Sydney CBD. The central location and proximity to the Parramatta interchange (approximately 15 minutes’ walk) means students can comfortably travel to and from the College using public transport from throughout western, north western and south western Sydney. Most students use train or bus to travel to and from the College.
