It’s time for chapters to start thinking about which archaeologist they wish to nominate for the 2112 Professional Archaeologist Award. Each chapter is asked to submit nominations using the guidelines developed by the AAS to explain what the archaeologist has done to deserve the award. A committee reviews the nominations and the award, a Silver Buckle, is presented at the Fall State Meeting. Nominations need to be mailed by April 25, 2012 so that the committee has enough time to review all of the submissions and order the belt buckle. A letter is being sent to all chapter presidents with the guidelines. The Silver Buckle has been awarded since 2006. Past winners have been: Dr. Alfred Dittert (Honorary), Peter J. Pilles (2006), Dr. Alexander Lindsay (2007), Dr. David Wilcox (2008), Dr. John Hohmann (2009), Dr. David Doyle (2010), Scott Wood (2011).
