GOLDEN KNIGHTS LAST GAME RECAP January 18 - Montreal Canadiens 5, Vegas Golden Knights 4 (SO) The Vegas Golden Knights erased a three-goal deficit, but were ultimately topped by the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday night at the Bell Centre. The Golden Knights had their work cut out early, as the Canadiens skated to a 3-0 lead after the first 20 minutes. Midway through the second, Reilly Smith set up Jonathan Marchessault for his 16th goal of the season to put the Golden Knights on the board. Vegas struck once more in the second frame when Paul Stastny jammed home a loose puck and the Golden Knights were within one heading into the final period. At the 9:40 mark of the third, Montreal scored to extend the lead to 4-2. When the Golden Knights emptied their net late in the third, Max Pacioretty struck to make it 4-3 before Reilly Smith scored the equalizer. After a scoreless five minutes in overtime, Tomas Tatar scored in the fourth round of the shootout to win the game for the Canadiens, 5-4.

NOTES FOR TONIGHT Last Time Out Against Montreal October 8 - Boston Bruins 4, Vegas Golden Knights 3 Mark Stone (1G, 1A) and Max Pacioretty (1G, 1A) each chipped in two points but the Vegas Golden Knights dropped a 4-3 decision to the Boston Bruins on Tuesday night at T-Mobile Arena. Stone got Vegas on the board with a power-play goal early in the first period before Reilly Smith followed up with a goal of his own to put the home team up 2-0 in the first 10 minutes. The Bruins fought back with goals from David Pastrnak and Brad Marchand to send the teams into the intermission level at 2-2. Early second-period strikes from Marchand and Torey Krug put Boston ahead by two in the middle frame. Max Pacioretty buried his first goal of the campaign in the dying stages of the third, but the Bruins held on for the 4-3 win.

Last Season Against the Bruins Vegas finished the 2018-19 season going 0-1-1 against the Boston Bruins. The Golden Knights lost the first game 4-1 in Boston (Nov. 11) and fell in the second game, but earned a point after losing in a shootout to the Bruins, 3-2, in Las Vegas (Feb. 20). Pacioretty To Represent VGK at NHL All-Star Game Vegas Golden Knights forward Max Pacioretty was named to the NHL All-Star team on January 10 and will represent the Golden Knights on the Pacific Division team. It will be the first NHL All-Star Game appearance of Pacioretty's career. He owns a career NHL coaching record of 416-329-112 as well as 46 playoff victories following stints with San Jose, New Jersey and Florida. With Vegas he is 1-0-1. He coached the Golden Knights to a 4-2 victory in his first game at Ottawa on January 16, 2020. With San Jose, DeBoer guided the Sharks to a 198-129-34 record over five seasons, including a trip to the first Stanley Cup appearance in team history in 2016.
