    SEGA SAMMY HOLDINGS INTEGRATED REPORT 2019 Challenges & Initiatives Since fiscal year ended March 2018 (fiscal year 2018), the SEGA SAMMY Group has been advancing measures in accordance with the Road to 2020 medium-term management strategy. In fiscal year ended March 2019 (fiscal year 2019), the second year of the strategy, the Group recorded results below initial targets for the second consecutive fiscal year. As for fiscal year ending March 2020 (fiscal year 2020), the strategy’s final fiscal year, we do not expect to reach performance targets, which were an operating income margin of at least 15% and ROA of at least 5%. The aim of INTEGRATED REPORT 2019 is to explain to stakeholders the challenges that emerged while pursuing Road to 2020 and the initiatives we are taking in response. Rapidly and unwaveringly, we will implement initiatives to overcome challenges identified in light of feedback from shareholders, investors, and other stakeholders.     Representations and Reality: Defining the Ongoing Relationship Between Anime and Otaku Cultures By: Priscilla Pham

    Representations and Reality: Defining the Ongoing Relationship between Anime and Otaku Cultures By: Priscilla Pham Submitted to OCAD University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Arts in Contemporary Art, Design, and New Media Art Histories Toronto, Ontario, Canada, April 2021 © Priscilla Pham, 2021 Abstract This major research paper investigates the ongoing relationship between anime and otaku culture through four case studies; each study considers a single situation that demonstrates how this relationship changes through different interactions with representation. The first case study considers the early transmedia interventions that began to engage fans. The second uses Takashi Murakami’s theory of Superflat to connect the origins of the otaku with the interactions otaku have with representation. The third examines the shifting role of the otaku from that of consumer to producer by means of engagement with the hierarchies of perception, multiple identities, and displays of sexualities in the production of fan-created works. The final case study reflects on the 2.5D phenomenon, through which 2D representations are brought to 3D environments. Together, these case studies reveal the drivers of the otaku evolution and that the anime–otaku relationship exists on a spectrum that teeters between reality and representation. i Acknowledgements I would like to express my deepest gratitude to my primary advisor, Ala Roushan, for her continued support and confidence in my writing throughout this paper’s development. Introduction Ce document s’inscrit dans l’étude lancée par le Syndicat des Producteurs de Films d’Animation (SPFA) sur l’emploi et la formation dans ce secteur. Sont présentées les statistiques relatives aux exercices 2004 à 2007, et réalisées à partir des données emploi disponibles dans les fichiers de gestion du groupe Audiens, pour le secteur de la production de films d’animation.     European Animation Films Come to Life in Lyon

    PRESS RELEASE 10 March, 2015 EUROPEAN ANIMATION FILMS COME TO LIFE IN LYON Cartoon Movie, the European pitching event for animation films, took place in Lyon last week with more than 750 participants from 34 different countries. Organised by CARTOON, the 17th edition of this professional forum was the ideal platform to know the current state of European animation as well as to boost 60 new projects marked by a wide variety of genres and production Quality. The projects in concept - one third of the event’s line-up - have caught the attention of more than 200 buyers and investors present at Cartoon Movie, showing a growing interest in discovering new projects in an early stage. BUZZ FILMS AND TRENDS Gathering up to 300 participants, the pitching sessions got a full house. The most attended projects were the following: "My Life as a Zucchini" (FR/SW), "The Swallows of Kabul" (FR), "The Jungle Bunch" (FR), "The Army of Rabbits" (FR/ SW/BE), "Young Perez" (FR/SW), "Beausoleil" (FR), "Unstable" (UK/FR), "Musketeers of the Tsar" (FR), "The Bears’ Famous Invasion of Sicily" (FR/IT), "Pachamama" (FR)... The project of Claude Barras "My Life as a Zucchini" already presented as project in development in 2012, unveiled this year its first pictures. Animated in motion capture, this children's movie is played by children (characters in plasticine) and performed by children (for voice). Laughs, lots of emotions and ultimately long applause, this film has definitely created a buzz on the first day of Cartoon Movie and we are looking for its release at the end of the year.
