The super-spy’s long career is due to repeated INFINITY FORMULA (Regeneration) doses of the Infinity Formula, which significantly reduces the effects of aging. Fury has built up decades of experience, which culminate in his appointment as Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. He rebuilt the organization after it came under the control of rogue Life Model Decoys impersonating real people, and in the SMARTER THAN THE AVERAGE SPY (Outwit) process institutes security measures, fallback plans and hideouts – including 28 emergency S.H.I.E.L.D. bases - so secret that even subsequent directors like Tony Stark and Norman Osborn never found them. SHADOWY MANIPULATOR (Stealth) STOLEN SUPER-SOLDIER SERUM (Charge) DUST OF DEATH (Poison) REAL NAME: Johann Schmidt SIGNIFICANT APPEARANCE: Captain America Comics #7 (1941) BACKGROUND: Disturbed orphan Johann Schmidt was hand-picked and DEVOTED FOLLOWERS (Mastermind) personally trained by Adolf Hitler to become the Nazi’s foremost force of terror and intimidation. Wearing a red mask, Red Skull brought Nazi terror across Europe during the early stages of World War II. As a symbol of Nazi domination, he was so powerfully effective that the United States developed a counterpart SUPER-SOLDIER REFLEXES (Combat Reflexes) to oppose him: Captain America. The two clashed repeatedly during the war until Skull was trapped in a collapsing laboratory. Skull was assumed dead, but actually had been preserved in suspended animation by lab’s experimental chemicals. Eventually, HYDRA found and revived the Red Skull, who soon found SUPER-SOLDIER ENDURANCE (Toughness) that his patriotic American nemesis had also survived into modern times. He later transferred his mind into a cloned body of Steve Rogers, inheriting Captain America’s reflexes and tactical thinking, making him more dangerous than ever. Skull’s henchman Crossbones broke Sin free of S.H.I.E.L.D., re-indoctrinated her, and the two – now a couple – were FEARLESS AND RUTHLESS (Combat Reflexes) instrumental in ‘killing’ Steve Rogers. Most recently, Sin’s face was horribly disfigured like her father’s, bringing her one step closer to fulfilling her destiny as Red Skull’s heir…and replacement. The stolen vibranium is the key component to devices that allow Klaw to create sonic objects and eventually turned himself into a being of solid sound. Klaw is repeatedly defeated by T’Challa – the heroic Black Panther - and son of the slain T’Chaka.

    The Star-spangled Avenger Adapted from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Captain America first appeared in Captain America Comics #1 (Cover dated March 1941), from Marvel Comics' 1940s predecessor, Timely Comics, and was created by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby. For nearly all of the character's publication history, Captain America was the alter ego of Steve Rogers , a frail young man who was enhanced to the peak of human perfection by an experimental serum in order to aid the United States war effort. Captain America wears a costume that bears an American flag motif, and is armed with an indestructible shield that can be thrown as a weapon. An intentionally patriotic creation who was often depicted fighting the Axis powers. Captain America was Timely Comics' most popular character during the wartime period. After the war ended, the character's popularity waned and he disappeared by the 1950s aside from an ill-fated revival in 1953. Captain America was reintroduced during the Silver Age of comics when he was revived from suspended animation by the superhero team the Avengers in The Avengers #4 (March 1964). Since then, Captain America has often led the team, as well as starring in his own series. Captain America was the first Marvel Comics character adapted into another medium with the release of the 1944 movie serial Captain America . Since then, the character has been featured in several other films and television series, including Chris Evans in 2011’s Captain America and The Avengers in 2012. But this enchantment created by Doctor Strange and Doctor Fate has expiration time. Abstract Established in 2008 with the release of Iron Man, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has become a ubiquitous transmedia sensation. Its uniquely interwoven narrative provides auspicious grounds for scholarly consideration. The franchise conscientiously presents larger-than-life superheroes as complex and incredibly emotional individuals who form profound interpersonal relationships with one another. This thesis explores Sarah Hagelin’s concept of resistant vulnerability, which she defines as a “shared human experience,” as it manifests in the substantial relationships that Steve Rogers (Captain America) cultivates throughout the Captain America narrative (11). This project focuses on Steve’s relationships with the following characters: Agent Peggy Carter, Natasha Romanoff (Black Widow), and Bucky Barnes (The Winter Soldier).
