January 2015 THE PROCLAIMERS – January 2015 Since ending their last 2 year long world tour in spectacular fashion as the first Scottish act to play at Glasgow’s new arena The Hydro in October 2013, Craig and Charlie have had their heads down writing. They have now completed that process with another brilliant collection of songs which will feature on the new album ‘Let’s Hear It For The Dogs” which will be released on Cooking Vinyl on 27th April. They recorded the album with their live band in Edinburgh in December at the legendary Rockfield Studios in Wales with producer Dave Eringa. Dave is a DAVE ERINGA - (The Who, Wilko Johnson & Roger Daltrey, The Manic Street Preachers, Idlewild) - Dave has just produced & mixed the new single for The Who called ‘Be Lucky’, which is the closing track on ‘Who Hits 50’, a two disc compilation album of the bands greatest work. After the international success of Wilko & Daltry’s record ‘Going Back Home’ - which sold over 100,000 copies achieving Gold status & charting for twenty three weeks in the UK album charts, Dave was asked to produce Roger Daltrey’s new solo album. He also achieved no.1 in France for his mixing work on Calogero’s new album ‘Les Feux D’Artifice’. 2015 - Will see The Proclaimers on the road live from late May through to Hogmanay. We are currently working on UK festivals from late May over the summer, looking at potential international dates and a 32 date UK tour in November/December. The plan is to continue touring around the world and back in UK through to summer 2016. Dates confirmed so far are 30/6 Wychwood Festival, 2/8 Carfest North, 6/8 Belladrum, 8/8 Wickham Festival, 14/8 Cropredy SUNSHINE ON LEITH - Following on from the theatre success of the musical drama featuring songs by The Proclaimers ‘Sunshine On Leith’, the movie version had its UK release in October 2013 and was hugely popular, opening at number 3, moving up to 2 in it’s second week and spending another month in the top ten, generating over £4.8 million at the UK Box office. Sunshine On Leith was number 5 in the highest grossing Independent UK films of 2013. The movie was released in the UK on DVD/Blu-ray on 27th January 2014 debuting at number 3 in DVD Charts. Over 1.5 million people in the UK will have seen the film so far. In 2014 the movie has also been top ten in New Zealand and Australian box office’s, spending 9 weeks in NZ Top 20 and 6 weeks in OZ top 20. It hit number 13 in Spain and had art-house releases in Japan, Taiwan, France, Vietnam and South Korea. 2015 sees the film released in USA, Canada and Germany and will have have its UK Terrestrial TV premiere. THE PROCLAIMERS: LYRICS 1987-2013. Nine Studio Albums – 125 Song Lyrics - Released last month in paperback and digital versions. Craig and Charlie Reid have written consistently wonderful words and music across their career to date. These songs are timeless, the lyrics capturing a gamut of human emotions, written with poignancy, honesty and humour. Their songs feature at weddings, funerals and everything in-between and there is one song, an early celebration of falling head over heels in love that is known the world over and has become a staggering global anthem. There are many others that have gained great popularity in different parts of the planet and then there is a wide cross section of sublime songs embraced by a multitude that has kept up with The Proclaimers nine studio albums and compilation collections released between 1987 and 2013. Their words read elegantly as prose and this book presents all the lyrics of the 125 songs recorded in this period with a forward by the esteemed screenwriter Richard Curtis and original introduction sleeve notes from 2 more mega fans on their ‘Best of’ by Matt Lucas and ‘Very Best Of’ by David Tennant. www.proclaimers.co.uk .

Für I Keep It To Myself - The Best Of Wilko Johnson wurden 25 zwischen 2008 und 2012 entstandene Tracks zusammengestellt. Die Band besteht hauptsächlich aus Norman Watt- Roy von den Blockheads (Bass) und Dylan Howe (Drums) – dergleichen Rhythmusgruppe, die auch auf Wilkos Erfolgsalbum Going Back Home mit Roger Daltrey mitgewirkt hatte. Mit neuen Interpretationen der von ihm selbst geschriebenen Dr Feelgood Tracks ‘She Does It Right’, ‘Twenty Yards Behind’, ‘Sneaking Suspicion’ und ‘Roxette’, sowie weiteren lebhaften Songs wie ‘Turned 21’, ‘Some Kind Of Hero’, ‘Out In The Traffic’, Barbed Wire Blues’, ‘Down By The Waterside’ und ‘I Really Love Your Rock 'n' Roll’ ist das Album I Keep It To Myself - The Best Of Wilko Johnson eine wunderbare Sammlung mit energiegeladenem Rhythm & Blues.

  • Inventing Saigon
Page 1 of 25 Inventing Saigon By Jason Leahey His dreams were made of black and white newsreels. Tall grass flattening under the pressure of silent helicopter wings. Mental film stills of blood dripping on wide leaves. Cops swinging nightsticks like orchestra batons and the huddled masses grasping at chain link fences while dark green air ships lift up and away like apocalyptic pterodactyls. And there was always fire. A naked little girl frozen in full run, arms outstretched like a bird trying to take off, her skin crispy black and mouth open in an unheard scream. Bald men in orange robes, stone-still inside full blazes. Night skies erupting in carnival colors as flames sucked up all the air and all the sound into giant tornadoes of heat. He dreamed these pictures and feelings nearly every night – frozen in his memory for as long as he could remember, wordless, near abstract visions rising out of the murk and then sinking down again. He never pursued them while awake, he avoided the books and films – even the music. His only knowledge of "Paint it Black" came from his dad watching the opening credits to Tour of Duty on television and he immediately switched the radio when ever Buffalo Springfield’s "For What It’s Worth" came on. But the sights and sounds had found their way into his head somewhere, and they flickered behind his eyes every night until they were bulldozed away by the sight of his ceiling fan or his blue pillow case and the scream of the alarm clock.

Formed on Canvey Island in Essex in the early 1970’s, Dr Feelgood remains one of the most popular and exciting live rhythm and blues acts in the world today. The raw and uncompromising style of their performance resulted in the album Stupidity that immediately went to the #1 position on the UK Charts. Dr Feelgood have also enjoyed global success with a string of hit singles including Roxette, Back In The Night, Milk and Alcohol, Down At The Doctors, She Does it Right, Going Back Home and See You Later Alligator – which gave the group their first gold record. The last album to feature Lee Brilleaux, Down At The Doctors, was recorded live at the Dr Feelgood Music Bar on Canvey Island just two months before he died in 1994.
