The Strypes is a 4‐piece rock rhythm and band hailing from Cavan, Ireland, formed in 2011 by Ross Farrelly (lead vocals/), Josh McClorey (lead guitar/vocals), Pete O’Hanlon (bass guitar/harmonica) and Evan Walsh (drums).

The group has spent the past 18 months launching their explosive assault on the clubs and festivals of Ireland, the UK and Europe, including an support slot on the tour. Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Elton John’s seminal 1973 breakthrough album, has been remastered and will be reissued on CD, vinyl, and in a box set featuring recording of ‘Live At Hammersmith 1973’ on CD, a DVD of Bryan Forbes’ 1973 film ‘Elton John and Bernie Taupin Say Goodbye To Norma Jean and Other Things’, along with a 100-page illustrated hardback book packed with rare photos, memorabilia and a new essay containing interviews with Elton John and Bernie Taupin.

Also included in the Deluxe Edition and box set versions is a suite of nine, new cover versions of classic from GOODBYE YELLOW BRICK ROAD performed by Ed Sheeran, Miguel featuring Wale, Hunter Hayes, the Band Perry, John Grant, Emeli Sande, Imelda May, Fall Out Boy and the Zac Brown Band.

The brainchild of producers Jesse Lauter (Elvis Perkins, The Low Anthem) and Sean O'Brien (Dawes, PAPA), the mission of Bob Dylan In The 80s: Volume One is to shed new light on a large cache of Bob Dylan songs that have long gone ignored, covering the period starting with 1980's Saved and ending with 1990's Under The Red Sky (including unreleased material ‐‐ the "80s Basement Tapes" ‐‐ and The Traveling Wilburys).

When you ask someone to name a Bob Dylan song or album from the 1980s, you usually get a blank stare in return. Bob Dylan In The 80s: Volume One helps to answer this question. "80s Dylan is by no means a celebrated period in his career," says co‐producer Lauter. "It was, in fact, the lowest point of his commercial success even though he released eight studio albums." He continues, "Our goal was to showcase one of the greatest artists of our time during an off‐rhythm period and bring a stronger sense of harmony to the material at hand. Sean and I did everything we could to make this album flow together sonically as if you were listening to a concept album."

Portions of proceeds from album sales will go to the charity, Pencils of Promise. Pencils of Promise is a non‐profit organization that builds schools and increases educational opportunities in the developing world. Key Points: Barbara and Ethan Gruska ‐ the Los Angeles‐based siblings who founded the band ‐ recorded the album with engineer/co‐ producer Shawn Everett. D’Angelo debuted in 1995, hailed as the new sound of soul, a genius singer-songwriter soul man in the tradition of Stevie Wonder, Prince, Curtis Mayfield, et al. His Virgin/EMI album Brown Sugar, along with the hit title song and a smash cover of Smokey Robinson’s “Cruisin’,” proved the hype was right. It’s generally thought that the artist’s next album was Voodoo, released in 2000. In between, however, fans were treated to a six-track EP: Live At The Jazz Café, London, in October 1996 – but in only. The record, recorded in Setpember ’95 during a rare U.K. promo tour, proved hard to come by and became an instant collector’s item. This new release of Live At The Jazz Café, London is not only the first domestic release of the album, it contains the complete show for the first time anywhere. Now included are four unreleased performances – three of them covers of tracks originally by D’Angelo influences Mandrill, and – plus a longer version of “Lady.” This edition also places all of the tracks in the correct sequence for the first time, as they were performed in a sweaty club when “D” was on the cusp of stardom. The package uses the original cover artwork of the Japanese release, but inside is an exclusive new essay by Alan Leeds, of D’Angelo’s management team, who is also known for his tenure with artists ranging from James Brown to Chris Rock. Merle Haggard released three singles in 1969 -- "Hungry Eyes," "Workin' Man Blues," and "Okie from Muskogee" -- all three reached number one. In particular, "Okie from Muskogee" sparked a tremendous amount of attention and lead to the release of the live album “Okie from Muskogee” in February of that same year. An attack on the liberal who represented American pop culture in the late '60s, the song struck a chord in audiences across the country. "Okie from Muskogee" cemented the singer's stardom, and won a large amount of awards in 1969 and 1970. In both years, Haggard was named Top Male Vocalist by the ACM. Haggard released a sequel to "Okie" called "The Fightin' Side of Me" at the beginning of 1970, which also shot to number one. He released a live album of the same name in July 1970.

Blue Note continues to celebrate its 75th anniversary in fine fashion. Arguably the greatest album in their entire canon makes an fresh appearance in 12 inch form – that of course is John Coltrane’s Blue Train. A classic from the word go! Giving Mr. Coltrane some competition are with Speak No Evil and Eric Dolphy’s Out To Lunch, an avant‐garde album that has sold consistently since its release in 1964. Larry Young’s Unity, from artwork to the music contained therein, is another album that while verging on free jazz, not usually a good plan for generating commercial success, its continuing freshness has ensured that it has also sold well over time. The last release this month is from Blue Note stalwarts, Art Blakely and the Jazz Messengers, in one of the best line‐ups that Blakey would bring to the label – Wayne Shorter on sax, Freddie Hubbard on trumpet, Curtis Fuller on trombone, Cedar Walton on piano and Blakey behind the drums on Free For All.
