  • The Great Kingdom of Eternal Peace: Buddhist Kingship in Tenth-Century Dali
buddhist kingship in tenth-century dali Asia Major (2019) 3d ser. Vol. 32.1: 87-111 megan bryson The Great Kingdom of Eternal Peace: Buddhist Kingship in Tenth-Century Dali abstract: Tenth-century China’s political instability extended beyond Tang territorial bound- aries to reach the Dali region of what is now Yunnan province. In Dali, the void left by the fallen Nanzhao kingdom (649–903) was filled by a series of short-lived regimes, the longest of which was Da Changhe guo (903–927), or “The Great King- dom of Eternal Peace.” Though studies of the “Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms” omit Changhe, its rulers’ diplomatic strategies, and particularly their representa- tions of Buddhist kingship, aligned with the strategies of contemporaneous regimes. Like their counterparts to the east, Changhe rulers depicted themselves as heirs of the Tang emperors as well as the Buddhist monarchs Liang Wudi and Aªoka. This article uses understudied materials, including a 908 subcommentary to the Scripture for Humane Kings (Renwang jing) only found in Dali, to argue that Changhe belongs in discussions of religion and politics in tenth-century China, and tenth-century East Asia. keywords: Dali, Yunnan, Changhe kingdom, Scripture for Humane Kings, Buddhism, Five Dynas- ties and Ten Kingdoms, tenth century INTRODUCTION tudies of tenth-century East Asia have long recognized the limita- S tions of Ouyang Xiu’s 歐陽修 (1007–1072) “Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms” model, which took the Song dynastic viewpoint. However, scholarship on this time period continues to apply its focus on the re- gional politics that was of interest to the Song court and its officials.1 This has had the effect of erasing the short-lived regimes in modern- day Yunnan from the period’s overall religious, cultural, and political Megan Bryson, Dept.

The conference is held at Sweetland Hotel in Dalian, China from July 8 to 10, 2019. It is a follow-up conference to the first five conferences, which were held in Tainan (January 2008), Shanghai (December 2009), Atlanta (2012), Hong Kong (2013), and Singapore (2016). The Conference is sponsored by Dalian Maritime University and Dalian University of Technology. Hongbin Ma PROGRAM CHAIR This conference series is dedicated to the late Dr. Chang-Lin Tien (1935–2002), a world-renowned scholar and leader in higher education. His intellect and unique vision continue to inspire our efforts in expanding the frontiers of micro/ nanoscale heat and mass transfer. Research and education on micro/nanoscale heat and mass transfer have advanced rapidly over the last two decades through many dedicated individuals and team efforts, with direct impact now extending into various fields in both science and engineering. This conference provides a forum for researchers, educators and practitioners around the world to exchange ideas on the state-of-the-art research and development and Dongqing Li identify future research needs in this emerging interdisciplinary field. The CONFERENCE CHAIR technical program contains 331 presentations organized into 51 sessions. In addition, the conference features 18 exciting plenary/keynote talks, which span all core areas of interest to our research community.

Rusling * Gold (Au) is chemically stable and resistant to oxidation. Although bulk Au is catalytically inert, nano- structured Au exhibits unique size-dependent catalytic activity. When Au nanocatalysts are supported on conductive carbon (denoted as Au@C), Au@C becomes promising for a wide range of electrochemical reactions such as electrooxidation of alcohols and electroreduction of carbon dioxide. In this mini-review, we summarize Au@C nanocatalysts with specific attention on the most recent achievements including the findings in our own laboratories, and show that Au nanoclusters (AuNCs, <2 nm) on nitrided carbon are excellent electrocatalysts for the oxidation of organic molecules including guanines in DNA. The Received 16th May 2018, state-of-the-art synthesis and characterization of these nanomaterials are also documented. In this study, target genes of miR-215 were identified by RNA-seq, bioinformatics analysis and dual luciferase detection. The relationship between target genes and E. coli infection was explored by RNAi technology, combined with E. coli stimulation and enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) detection. Molecular regulating mechanisms of target genes expression were analyzed by methylation detection of promoter regions and dual luciferase activity assay of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in core promoter regions. The results showed that miR-215 could target EREG, NIPAL1 and PTPRU genes.

While this is the global pandemic is behind us. already the third virtual edition of the Vehicular Organizing a world-class conference is possible only Technology Society flagship conference, we have with a dedicated team. I thank General Co-Chair received a notable amount of high-quality submissions Merouane Debbah and Honorary Chair Pertti providing a basis for an excellent technical program. Lukander. Special recognition for the Technical On top of the cutting-edge research in vehicular Program Chair Mikko Valkama and Co-Chairs Rui technology presented in technical tracks, we are Dinis and Daniel B. da Costa. I also give my bringing together in panels, keynotes and tutorials appreciation to other members of the organizing widely acknowledged and valued experts and committee and recall that this conference would not be visionaries. As is known, the Vehicular Technology possible without a large number of TPC members and Conference follows closely the recent progress in both reviewers who dedicate their time to ensure a high- academic and industry research domains, the most quality review process. Finally, I want to recall an visible topics in this spring being 5G and its important aspect: Solid and professional support from applications, and emerging ideas for 6G.
