MIKE SHIPLETT: Crew Chief, No. 41 Ford Mustang Birthdate: May 17, 1972 Birthplace: Amherst, Ohio Hometown: Amherst, Ohio Residence: Denver, North Carolina Spouse: Brooke When Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR) promoted Cole Custer from its NASCAR Xfinity Series team to its flagship NASCAR Cup Series program for 2020, crew chief Mike Shiplett earned a promotion too. Shiplett has been a crew chief for more than 300 races across the Xfinity Series and Cup Series, and it was his 2019 season with Custer that proved to be his most productive. In Shiplett’s first year at SHR, he guided Custer to a career-high seven wins and six poles, with 17 top-five and 24 top-10 finishes and a total of 922 laps led. It was a breakout year for Custer, who entered 2019 after consecutive single-win seasons in 2017 and 2018. Shiplett came to SHR from Chip Ganassi Racing, where in 2018 he earned six Xfinity Series wins, steering Kyle Larson to four victories and a win apiece for Ross Chastain and John Hunter Nemechek. It was a standout year for the veteran crew chief, but it ended up being short lived when Ganassi’s Xfinity Series team was unexpectedly shut down before 2019 even began. But as the door to Ganassi closed, another opened at SHR, whereupon Shiplett’s pairing with Custer delivered almost immediately. The duo scored the first of their seven victories in just the third race of the season at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California. Shiplett, now in his 12th year as a crew chief, built his racing career from the ground up.

NASCAR Prime Time Richard Childress Racing has three NASCAR Nationwide Series cars, three Sprint Cup Series cars, three NASCAR Camping World Truck Series on a full schedule in 2012. With cars and sponsors for nine teams, keeping an outside graphics provider up to date with color schemes and sponsor logos proved difficult. On top of all the teams’ race cars, each has a show car that goes on tour for corporate partners and is on display at conventions, store openings, car shows and more. To meet the team’s growing graphics demands, the leadership decided to bring the printing and installation in-house in 2011 and turned to Avery Dennison for digital media and overlaminates. Graphics Partner Nick Woodward is the graphics manager at the RCR Graphics Center. He and Kenneth Ward, the creative manager, are responsible for keeping all the cars in the right colors and with the right sponsor logos. GENERAL RACE PROCEDURES: 1) Cars will be lined up by qualifying, points or by a draw system. 2) When possible all races will be pre-staged on the backstretch of the quarter mile 3) This Speedway uses a “fail to tail” system on yellow flags, any cars involved (a spin to avoid or stopping is considered involved) will go to the rear of the field. 4) Any car causing two yellow flags in a race will be sent to the pits. 5) All officials’ decisions are final. 6) A car may be entered in only one division per day; only exception is the Double “O”. 7) Any additional cars advancing to any feature from semi is subject to adjusted payout. 8) Pitting: We will try to get all teams in and out as quickly as possible. Please be patient. 9) To maintain any starting position, race teams are required to help dry the track in the event of rain.
