This was put on by the National Corvette Museum. It was a week long tour of the Pacific Coast HWY and wine country. Though the price was a little expensive, the tour was priceless. We also had another couple attend from our club, Tim and Karen Denham. Together we had a great fun week! We started the tour in Seaside (next to Monterey) with 12 Corvettes and one rental car. A new carbon 65 from Maryland suffered a cracked rim and left their Corvette at a dealership for rim replacement and had to use a rental SUV for the entire tour, so they were known as the "Metal Car" throughout the entire tour. Here are the highlights of where we went and what we toured: 17 Mile Drive in Pebble Beach (driving this with a line of Corvettes was on my bucket list) Canepa Car Collection Santa Cruz wharf Drove to Pacifica Seal Rock Golden Gate Viewpoint Fort Baker Viewpoint Fort Bragg Tour around Clear Lake Yountville Castello di Amorosa in Napa Valley Culinary Institute of America for a tour and lunch Tour and lunch at the Jelly Belly Factory Tour the Blackhawk Museum Tour the Winchester Mystery House Farwell dinner at the Marriott Courtyard Los Altos Joined the Santa Clara Corvettes Car Club "Corvette Spectacular" Car Show downtown Los Altos 6 I would have to say the best thing about this tour was the roads we drove on. We had some really twisty and pretty smooth routes to drive on. From Pacifica to Fort Bragg was a little to much of a good thing. The drivers were pretty beat by the end of the day. The next day on the tour around Clearlake, there were more very curvy roads and I got in a little to much shifting and broke my shifter. My car had to take a ride on the back of a flat bed tow truck to a Chevy dealership for repairs the next day. (Thanks Tim for helping me out so we did not have to miss out on the tours for that day). There were cars from Maryland, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Idaho, Kentucky, Arizona and California. While talking to our new friends from different states, none of them belonged to a Corvette club. I think we are very fortunate for having a local Corvette Club to belong to. We take for granted our friends, local outings and support from the Corvette community we have here, that others are not so lucky to have. For future fun driving events go to: www.corvettemuseum.org/event That is also where you will find the information to the 2019 National Corvette Caravan.
