The season started at Motorland in Aragon, Spain where it was a slippery start in the rain for race 1 01:12 Ricciardo (#8) started on pole but was surprised by Aleshin (#3) who went on to take the first chequered flag of the season. Following a blunder by Ricciardo, Zampieri (#12) took advantage to take second place. 01:25 Daniel Ricciardo (#8) got off to a good start in race 2, but Sten Pentus (#23) and Jan Charouz (#6) positioned themselves better into the first curve. In his second year of the championship, Pentus is set to become Estonia’s brightest motor racing star. 03:31 ITW: #23 Sten Pentus (EST) Fortec Motorsport (Language: English) “Actually there have been some really famous Estonian go-kart and racing drivers, and they knew the lap times and I beat the lap time at the first time and I was driving a go-kart for the first time as well, so they asked: are you racing? And I said no, the guy said you should and then I went straight home and told my father. I need a go-kart I want to start racing.” 03:55 Sten Pentus is focused on making it to the top rung of the motor racing ladder. 04:09 ITW: Laurent Delahaye - Driver Development Coach (Language: English) “I mean he is only in his second full season of motor sport. It’s a bit early to say that we will be the favourite for the championship. I think we would be there for a top 3 finish.” 04:21 Music montage 04:38 Sten’s girlfriend Kristel is also his manager, and she says that he has the right outlook on the world to tough it out in this ultra-competitive sport, while keeping his feet on the ground. 04:52 ITW: Kristel Reinsalu - Manager & girl-friend (Language: English) “I like his look of life, I like how he takes his life. You really try to live to the maximum and do the things you love and not please others just to be popular. But just be who you are and just be like that.” 05:11 ITW: Keit Pentus - First Vice-President of Estonian Parlament & sister, English “If he decides something, he really concentrates, he focuses.” 05:17 (Sten plays drums) Renault Sport Technologies Tél. : +33 (0)1 76 82 82 00 Z.A. I want to do as early as possible, not to wait until I am 60 years old and then start doing it. Better do it now, you never how long it is going to be. And I am trying to live every day as if it is my last day.” 05:56 Images 05:59 Sten Pentus: “Thank you, that’s it for now. See you at the race track.” 06:06 Jingle 06:10 Magic Monaco clip VO: The Principality of Monaco on the shores of the Mediterranean is a dream destination, especially in May each year when this glamorous micro-nation hosts the world’s most famous street race, the Monaco Grand Prix. VO: Joining in with the Formula 1 action, the Renault Formula 3.5 teams come to Monaco to race on this most challenging of circuits. Motor-sport fans from around the world come to Monaco to enjoy over four days, world-class racing and a carnival atmosphere in the clubs and restaurants that spills into the streets, and where you never know who you may bump into. 06:54 Jingle 06:59 (Black – Advertising break.) Renault Sport Technologies Tél. : +33 (0)1 76 82 82 00 Z.A. Courtaboeuf Fax. : 33 (0)1 76 82 83 75 14, avenue des Tropiques Internet : www.renault- 91 978 Courtaboeuf Cedex - France sport.com Part 2 (10’11”) 07:04 Jingle Stefano Coletti introduces his home circuit and the special atmosphere 07:09 VO: For many, Monaco is the spiritual home of motor racing, and it can now boast a home-grown, up and coming motor racing star. Stefano Coletti of the Comtec racing team knows the Monaco circuit inside out, so we asked him for the inside track on the world’s most famous street circuit. 07:27 ITW: #18 Stefano Coletti (MON) Comtec Racing (Language French) “Monaco first of all is very difficult. It’s very narrow and does not allow any errors; otherwise you are against a wall. Also it has the longest and fastest curves in the championship, so you have to have car that is well balanced for all types of curves, it is very technical, so it is therefore very difficult because the smallest error means its ‘game over.’ 07:52 ITW: #18 Stefano Coletti (MON) Comtec Racing (Language French) “I think that the swimming pool corner is my favourite part of the Monaco track because it is a corner that is very technical and very rapid and there is not a lot of grip, so the smallest error and you are against the wall, so it’s my favourite corner.” 08:06 VO: The sun shines on average over 300 days a year in Monaco, but May when the Monaco Grand Prix weekend takes place, is notorious for it’s changeable weather… 08:15 ITW: #18 Stefano Coletti (MON) Comtec Racing (Language French) “It’s a problem for us to always be ready to adapt immediately if it rains. In May one moment it could be 25 degrees and two hours later 15 degrees with rain, it’s very changeable.” 08:28 VO: So for a Monaco lad born and bred, what is it like to race on one’s home streets? 08:35 “It is very emotional. When you are used to driving 50km/h on the streets of Monaco and the next day you are doing 200km/h, you are going past your friends homes, and everyone knows you, as I was actually born here, its very special because I travel these roads all the time and I see the Monaco circuit all the time it gives me a great emotion when I am racing my car.” 09:01 VO: And being so familiar with every nook and cranny of the Monaco circuit, does that give Stefano Coletti an advantage over his Renault Formula 3.5 colleagues? 09:09 “I wouldn’t say that I have an advantage, even if I drive the route every day, I am just going 50km/h and the next day I am racing at 200km/h, its not at all the same thing, its an advantage over those who never usually come here, but over those who have raced here its not really an advantage.” 09:39 Jingle Qualifying session highlights plus interviews Renault Sport Technologies Tél.

The company is believed to have taken the decision after indications in Japan that the automotive markets are not getting any better, Honda having recently announced a 56% drop in earnings in the last quarter, compared to 2008. Prior to that the company was looking at other options, such as selling the team on to someone else. This has now been axed and the company will simply close things down and settle all the necessary contractual commitments as quickly as possible. The news, if confirmed, will be another blow to the manufacturer power in F1 as it will be the third withdrawal by a major car company in 11 months, following in the footsteps of Honda and BMW. There are also doubts about the future of Renault's factory team. The news will also be a blow to the Formula One Teams' Association, although the members have learned that working together produces much better results than trying to take on the authorities alone. It also means that there are now just three manufacturers left: Ferrari, Mercedes and Renault, and engine supply from Cosworth will become essential to ensure there are sufficient engines to go around.

  • Press Kit 2018 // Introduction
Press Kit 2018 // introduction Launched in 2016 by Renault Sport Racing and Renault Sport Formula One Team, the Renault Sport Academy is tasked with discovering and nurturing young driver talent through the racing ranks, where, ultimately, Renault Sport Formula One Team aims to find drivers able to deliver the team world championship titles. Drivers are selected on ability and potential, with the Academy able to draw upon Renault Sport Racing’s vast experience in motorsport as well as its global markets to find such talent. Mia Sharizman manages the programme and has a range of experience in motorsport including at Formula 1, Formula 2 and GP3 level. For 2018, the Academy has retained four drivers from its 2017 intake. Jack Aitken, a member since its inception in 2016, signs for a third year, as does Sun Yue Yang. Max Fewtrell and Christian Lundgaard both impressed in their first seasons with the Academy and both remain for a second year. The Academy is delighted to welcome three new drivers to the programme. As part of his prize for winning the highly-competitive Formula Renault Eurocup, Sacha Fenestraz has agreed to accept a place with the Academy. Arthur Rougier, winner of the 2017 French Formula 4 Championship, is on-board for 2018, alongside Victor Martins, runner-up to Arthur in his rookie season of single-seater racing. Four members will go wheel to wheel in the Formula Renault Eurocup in 2018 with Max, Christian, Arthur and Victor all set to contest the exciting series that races on nine Grand Prix circuits, including the streets of Monaco.
