03:10 VO: Estonia in Northern Europe – a fairytale land in winter.

03:20 Estonia is the home of Renault Formula 3.5 driver Sten Pentus of the Fortec Motorsport team. In his second year of the championship, Pentus is set to become Estonia’s brightest motor racing star.

03:31 ITW: #23 Sten Pentus (EST) Fortec Motorsport (Language: English) “Actually there have been some really famous Estonian go-kart and racing drivers, and they knew the lap times and I beat the lap time at the first time and I was driving a go-kart for the first time as well, so they asked: are you racing? And I said no, the guy said you should and then I went straight home and told my father. I need a go-kart I want to start racing.”

03:55 Sten Pentus is focused on making it to the top rung of the motor racing ladder.

04:09 ITW: Laurent Delahaye - Driver Development Coach (Language: English) “I mean he is only in his second full season of motor sport. It’s a bit early to say that we will be the favourite for the championship. I think we would be there for a top 3 finish.”

04:38 Sten’s girlfriend Kristel is also his manager, and she says that he has the right outlook on the world to tough it out in this ultra-competitive sport, while keeping his feet on the ground.

04:52 ITW: Kristel Reinsalu - Manager & girl-friend (Language: English) “I like his look of life, I like how he takes his life. You really try to live to the maximum and do the things you love and not please others just to be popular. But just be who you are and just be like that.”

Stefano Coletti introduces his home circuit and the special atmosphere

07:09 VO: For many, Monaco is the spiritual home of motor racing, and it can now boast a home-grown, up and coming motor racing star. Stefano Coletti of the team knows the Monaco circuit inside out, so we asked him for the inside track on the world’s most famous street circuit. 07:27 ITW: #18 Stefano Coletti (MON) Comtec Racing (Language French) “Monaco first of all is very difficult. It’s very narrow and does not allow any errors; otherwise you are against a wall. Also it has the longest and fastest curves in the championship, so you have to have car that is well balanced for all types of curves, it is very technical, so it is therefore very difficult because the smallest error means its ‘game over.’ 07:52 ITW: #18 Stefano Coletti (MON) Comtec Racing (Language French) “I think that the swimming pool corner is my favourite part of the Monaco track because it is a corner that is very technical and very rapid and there is not a lot of grip, so the smallest error and you are against the wall, so it’s my favourite corner.” 08:06 VO: The sun shines on average over 300 days a year in Monaco, but May when the Monaco Grand Prix weekend takes place, is notorious for it’s changeable weather… 08:15 ITW: #18 Stefano Coletti (MON) Comtec Racing (Language French) “It’s a problem for us to always be ready to adapt immediately if it rains. In May one moment it could be 25 degrees and two hours later 15 degrees with rain, it’s very changeable.” 08:28 VO: So for a Monaco lad born and bred, what is it like to race on one’s home streets? 08:35 “It is very emotional. When you are used to driving 50km/h on the streets of Monaco and the next day you are doing 200km/h, you are going past your friends homes, and everyone knows you, as I was actually born here, its very special because I travel these roads all the time and I see the Monaco circuit all the time it gives me a great emotion when I am racing my car.” 09:01 VO: And being so familiar with every nook and cranny of the Monaco circuit, does that give Stefano Coletti an advantage over his Renault Formula 3.5 colleagues? 09:09 “I wouldn’t say that I have an advantage, even if I drive the route every day, I am just going 50km/h and the next day I am racing at 200km/h, its not at all the same thing, its an advantage over those who never usually come here, but over those who have raced here its not really an advantage.” 09:39 Jingle Qualifying session highlights plus interviews

Renault Sport Technologies Tél. : +33 (0)1 76 82 82 00 Z.A. Courtaboeuf Fax. : 33 (0)1 76 82 83 75 14, avenue des Tropiques Internet : www.renault- 91 978 Courtaboeuf Cedex - France sport.com 09:43 VO: After Thursday’s practice, Saturday morning saw the Renault Formula 3.5 qualifying sessions. Just before the start, we spoke with US driver Alexander Rossi, who joins the Renault Formula 3.5 for the first time. 09:58 ITW #25 Alexander Rossi (USA) ISR (Language English) “Monaco is a track that is very difficult to drive on and preparing for next year I really wanted to be on the track because when you are with Formula 1, the testing and practice opportunities are so limited on the race weekend so this was a very good opportunity for me especially since this team I am driving for is the team that I drove for in Formula master last year.” 10:18 VO: Uniquely for the Monaco circuit, the qualifiers were split into two groups, Group A and Group B. The fastest in either group takes pole position followed by the fastest in the other group. 10:30 Championship leader Aleshin lead the start of Group A followed by 3 rd placed Sten Pentus and 5 th placed Stefano Coletti. 10:43 VO: Racing on his home circuit, Monagasque born driver Stefano Coletti performed well in Pole A at one time leading… …with the first round of qualifying turning into a battle between Coletti, Pentus and Aleshin. 10:58 The first red flag of the day came out… …when Leal wiped out. 11:03 It was Aleshin who came out of the Pole A group on top, followed by Coletti and Pentus, with Hartley warming up as the session counted down . 11:11 INT: #3 Mikhail Aleshin (RUS) Carlin (Language English) “I was in the first group so the track was not so good as for the second group, it was still cold and so it probably took half a session just to make a good time and then I just did the best I could and tried to get 100% out of the car and just got first position somehow.” 11:41 VO: But it was the Pole B group that set the pace Saturday, with Rossi making out early on. 11:52 Garcia wiped out on the famous Saint Devote bend. 12:05 before Rossi’s wipe out took him out from Pole Position contention. 12:12 But it was Ricciardo who was to take fastest in Pole B, rising steadily up the field and being aided by Rossi’s mistake. 12:28 INT: #8 Daniel Ricciardo (AUS) Tech 1 Racing (Language English) “I think it was the best pole that I got in my career. At Monaco it’s a great feeling and my first time here as well which is cool, it makes it a little bit more special to get ahead of the more experienced guys. The last lap I managed to just put it all together and I had Simon on the radio saying ‘allez, allez’ push, push!” 12:52 So it’s the Australian Ricciardo who starts in pole position for Sunday’s race followed by Aleshin, Costa and homeboy Coletti. 13:09 Jingle 13:13 The F1 factory drivers of the Formula Renault 3.5

Jan Charouz is a reserve driver for Renault’s F1 team.” 13:41 #6 Jan Charouz (Cze) Driver (Language English) “Basically there’s only two paths to get to Formula 1, one is GP2 and one is Formula Renault 3.5. Both championships are very competitive. I’d say Formula Renault is a bit better because you get a bit more driving.” 14:00 ITW #9 Daniil Move (Rus) Driver Junior Lotus Racing (Language English) “I’m sure it’s a good preparation, you can see people like or Robert Kubica, Jaime Alguersari arriving from 3.5, straight and being quick right there immediately, so I am sure it is a very good class.” 14:15 VO: Last year Spanish driver Jaime Alguersuari was called up mid season from Renault Formula 3.5 to join the Torro Rosso F1 team. 14:24 Jaime Alguersuari (ESP) F1 Driver (Language English) “The junior team of Red Bull, I think it’s one of the best in the world, because Sebastien Boemi, Vettel and myself could prove that. It’s not just when you arrive into Formula 1, it comes from the origin. When I was 15 years old and Go-Karting, I left go-karting I made the contract with Red Bull in the junior team and they prepared us for Formula 1 as their goal and it was my goal as well. 14:50 VO: Australian is already an F1 reserve driver for Red Bull. 14:56 #7 Brendon Hartley (NZL) Tech 1 Racing (Language English) “Racing in this category is preparing us, it’s kind of an apprenticeship I guess. It’s almost the last step before F1. It’s quite a similar car, big tyres, you have wing slicks, a lot of horse power and the races are quite long, 45 minutes with one pit stop, so all these things put together it’s preparing us for Formula 1.” 15:18 VO: “Italian driver (#12) Daniel Zampieri of the Pons racing team is a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy and says that the Renault 3.5 championship offers the best opportunity for growth, especially as the race weekends have two qualifiers and two races giving more chances to race & learn. His academy director agrees but says there is more to it than just racing experience…” 15:40 ITW: Francesco Pon Technical Director Ferrari Driver Acadamy (Language Italian) “We seek to see them grow as professionals. That means not only giving them the opportunity to drive in the races but also to teach them that behind the preparation for an event, there are many aspects that need to be covered and analysed in detail. Analysis of the telemetry; video analysis; simulator preparation; physical and mental training.” 16:14 #8 Daniel Ricciardo (AUS) Tech 1 racing (Language English) “It can be done like this or it can take a few more years, or could never happen. I’d like it to seem real, to make it happen. Next year is possible I guess, it just depends, really. You’ve got to be in the right place at the right time and get the results. That’s the main thing.” 16:43 Jaime Alguersuari (ESP) Red Bull F1 Driver (Language English)

That’s the exact word to be said, because at the end it’s just about that. For sure I was lucky because I did one year Formula 3 and one year Renault 3.5 and then I’m in Formula 1, that this mostly never happens, but you need to push, you need to believe and you need to dream because it is the best thing in life.” 17:15 Jingle

Obviously you have a lot of pretty ladies walking around and playing tennis. It’s good, just being here in general it’s brilliant. Hopefully we can do everything right and end up with match point at the end of the weekend.” 18:11 #15 Albert Costa (ESP) Epsilon-Euskadi (Language Spanish) “Many people remind me that I have the same name as the Catalan tennis star Albert Costa, well I am watching tennis now but actually I am a driver.” (Laughs.) 18:29 #15 Albert Costa (ESP) Epsilon-Euskadi (Language Spanish) “It’s very strange because I thought I would be amongst the Formula 1 with the Renault 3.5 alongside, but we are here and they are over in there in the pit lane, so it’s a bit strange because you come out of the pit lane and you come here and it is strange, is it a dream? But the place is very nice and glamorous, a lot of rich people so maybe I can find some new sponsors, so it’s nice to drive here.” 18:59 VO: “To get from the tennis club to the Monaco street circuit, the cars are lined up and as befits a Principality, they drive in a stately procession through the streets to the starting grid.” 19:09 #24 Jon Lancaster (GBR) Fortec Motorsport (Language English)
