The minute that we came through the front door, and turned left into the sitting room, we fell in love with the place. It just felt so welcoming. It’s such a beautiful looking house, the garden is absolutely stunning and the location is so idyllic. We simply couldn’t let it slip through our fingers, so we upped our budget, bought it and it was one of the best decisions we’ve ever made.” “The house itself is just lovely and it was in superb condition when we bought it – and still is, I must say. It had been slightly extended and completely renovated by the previous owners, and at the same time they retained its original character and charm by restoring, preserving and enhancing all of the lovely period features. Over time we’ve made cosmetic changes here and there, but we’ve not needed to do much. The layout flows beautifully, the rooms are all bright and nicely proportioned and it has a really warm and welcoming feel throughout.” “The house hasn’t needed much work doing to it but outside we’ve done rather a lot,” continues the owner. “We’ve transformed a tumbledown old building into a lovely one-bed holiday let, the former milking parlour has been turned into garaging and storage. Our sizeable home office enjoys tremendous views out across the garden. And the garden itself is gorgeous. The plot extends to around an acre, so we have two huge open lawns which are divided by a pretty shrubbery, there’s a decked area where we have our hot tub, a large patio for entertaining, and we also added a beautiful African Breeze Hut– it has a heater and the sides can be shut to create a really cosy space for outdoor entertaining. The whole garden is so peaceful and private, and it’s also both family-friendly and great for entertaining. It’s a feature of the property that I’m really going to miss when we move.” “It’s hard to pick a favourite room. The sitting room is large and cosy with its elegant wood panelling, and the dining room is full of character with exposed beams and timbers, some of which were decorated with painted flowers many centuries ago. However, the farmhouse kitchen is the heart of our home and the place to which everyone seems to naturally gravitate.” “The location is absolutely gorgeous. We can step out of the front door and walk for miles through the beautiful surrounding countryside, so we enjoy the best of rural living. However, it’s also a very convenient spot as we’re only around five miles from the lovely towns of Upton-upon-Severn, Tewkesbury and Pershore, so everything we need is easily accessible.” “Parlour Cottage, our one-bed holiday let, has been a great asset, and is particularly busy at the moment, as you can imagine. “What will we miss? Everything,” says the owner. “It’s time for us to downsize, but I’m not sure we’ll ever find another house and garden quite this lovely, or indeed a location that is quite so idyllic. It’s been a wonderful family home for the past twenty three years.”* * These comments are the personal views of the current owner and are included as an insight into life at the property.
