How to enjoy the Vishu Sadhya vegetarian feast The Vishu Sadhya New Year feast marks the celebration of the Malayalee New Year in our Indian home state of Kerala. The items in this vegetarian meal are a symbolic reminder that all types of experiences can be anticipated during the coming year, bringing together a mix of sweet, salty, sour, bitter and sharp flavours. We have sold hundreds of Sadhya meals for this year’s Vishu celebration, and we thank our customers for enabling Aditi Gourmet to share this culinary experience with them! Here are some tips on enjoying the Vishu Sadhya: • Start with the rice. We typically mix parippu and a small spoonful of ghee with the rice; • Taste the vegetable items: avial (the Kerala mixed vegetable curry) and the cabbage thoran; • Continue with the rice, mixing in some sambar (the south Indian lentil stew); • Kalan is a popular traditional dish made of yogurt, coconut, and tuber vegetables as such yam and plantain. Taste it alone or with rice; • While eating the meal, use the mango pickle, injicurry and lemon pickle as condiments. • Moru, the Kerala-style yogurt, is a healthy way to “cool down” and smooth the transition between courses in this feast. • The meal’s conclusion are the banana and desserts. Semiya payasam is the South Indian vermicelli pudding); and banana pradhaman is a sweet pudding. #HappyVishu #Sadhya #Kerala #India www.aditigourmet.com @GourmetAditi Aditi Gourmet @AditiGourmet @AditiGourmet .
