Des trois éléments cités par Mohamed Raouraoua pour renforcer les rangs des Verts, Yassine Benzia est assurément le plus connu et celui qui fait le plus figure de pointure, tant sa stature est déjà reconnue de l’autre côté de la Méditerranée. Déjà, avec les différentes sélections de jeunes, sous le maillot bleu de l’équipe de France, Benzia fait office de belle référence. Après avoir fourbi ses armes chez les moins de 16 ans, il participe, ainsi, à la Coupe du monde des moins de 17 ans en 2011, lors de laquelle il mène l'équipe de France jusqu'en quarts de finale grâce à ses cinq buts. Constituant l'une des grandes révélations de ce mondial des U17 ans avec Souleymane Coulibaly (meilleur buteur) et Julio Gómez (meilleur joueur), Benzia remporte même le soulier de bronze à la fin de la compétition, ex æquo avec les Brésiliens Adryan et Ademilson. Avec l'équipe de France des moins de 18 ans, il participe en 2012 à 9 matchs amicaux dans lesquels il inscrit 9 buts et réussit une passe décisive.Ses belles statistiques l’accompagnent aussi en club et ce, depuis ses débuts à St-Aubin jusqu’à son arrivée au centre de formation de l'Olympique lyonnais, après être, notamment, passé par le CMS Oissel, le RC Caudebecais et l'US Quevilly.
