Annual Report 2018-19 the Purpose of Life Is Not to Be Happy
Annual Report 2018-19 The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well. Ralph Waldo Emerson Photographs courtesy by: Jayati Saha, Saheli Das, Nilargha Chatterjee, Om Prakash Yadav and the staff of Iswar Sankalpa Annual Report 2018-19 SARBANI DAS ROY Dear friends, SECRETARY In the magical 12th year of its journey, I am happy to share the struggles and successes of the mind champions and Team Iswar Sankalpa through the difficult terrains of recovery-oriented programs of treatment, care and rehabilitation. The single most important thread running through all the pages of the year was the way in which we have broken the stony walls of social isolation and embraced our fellow citizens – doubly marginalised by homelessness and mental illness. For too long, have we looked away from this bundle of rags and dirt. For too long have we been afraid of her unpredictable behaviour. But it has taken this embrace to touch the pain in her and the human in me. The discovery of the deepest reservoirs of strength and ‘capacity’ of persons whom the world had held with increasing despair and the way in which we have succeeded in bringing delight to the care process have been ‘magical moments’ we have cherished over the year. Hope you will enjoy reading this testament of love and toil of a committed team of changemakers. Howrah Bridge and Second Hooghly Bridge: a Comprehensive Comparative Study
International Journal of Scientific & Engineering Research, Volume 4, Issue 9, September-2013 243 ISSN 2229-5518 Howrah Bridge and Second Hooghly Bridge: A Comprehensive Comparative Study 1Arnab Chakraborty, 2Ritaja Ray Abstract: The Howrah Bridge and Second Hooghly Bridge has been serving the city of Kolkata in conjunction with each other by allowing the city to be well connected with the rest of the state and indeed the rest of the country. The bridges by themselves, the former being of balanced- cantilever form and the latter being cable-stayed, are marvels of bridge engineering with each being built in very different eras with tremendous variation in the technology that had been employed, all to serve the one purpose of improving communication and traffic conditions by releasing some of the volume exerted on each due to daily movement. The main issue of this research is to make a comparative review of the two bridges, mainly from strict technical points of views and also from the social and economic factors that arise out of them. The structural configurations, foundation characteristics, construction techniques and maintenance issues have been extensively discussed. Relevant statistical facts relating to traffic volume on the bridges and illustrations have been provided as and when required to verify some of the facts that has been discussed. Amazon India launches pickup kiosk at Sealdah Railway Station in Kolkata January 30, 2020 After a successful pilot in Mumbai, Amazon expands pickup points to Kolkata The new kiosk at Sealdah Railway station will act as a convenient and easy pickup point for customers Kolkata, 30 January 2020: Amazon India today announced its partnership with the Eastern Railways to set up a pickup kiosk at Sealdah Railway Station in Kolkata. In 2019, as a pilot, Amazon India partnered with the Indian Railways to launch pickup kiosks in four railway stations across Mumbai. With a daily customer footfall of lakhs of people, Sealdah Railway Station will enable the company to provide a secure and convenient delivery option for Amazon customers in the region who want to pick up their packages while commuting to work, home or even on vacation. Customers can select this point as a pickup location on the checkout page of their order while shopping on Amazon.in. “As a customer-obsessed company, we are constantly leveraging our resources and technology to build initiatives which are grounded in customer convenience. The learnings from our pickup kiosks across Mumbai has helped us build our partnership with the Eastern Railways to provide another pickup option for customers in Kolkata as well, said Prakash Rochlani, Director – Amazon Logistics, Amazon India. "Daily there are millions of valued passengers that use Sealdah Railway Station during their journey. Launching Amazon pickup kiosks in the non-ticketing zone at Sealdah Station helps customers pickup their order quickly and easily", said Sri Nikhil Kumar Chakraborty, Chief Public Relation Officer of Eastern Railway. -
