The Certificate Intercultural Competence is issued as part of an extracurricular program offered by Universität Hamburg. It is awarded to students and doctoral students of the University who demonstrate outstanding commitment to intercultural issues. It tes- tifies to intercultural activity and is an additional dis- tinction for students who might want to demonstrate that they possess intercultural soft skills, e.g., when applying for jobs. Participants must complete three of four components to earn the certificate.

The Certificate Intercultural Competence includes mandatory intercultural training as well as international experience, intercultural involvement, language courses, and elective courses with an interna- tional perspective.

German and international students in all of the facul- ties of Universität Hamburg are eligible to pursue the Certificate Intercultural Competence for free.
