POPCAAN WATCH VIDEO: https://smarturl.it/LikeRoyalty AND ANNOUNCES DETAILS FOR HIS FORTHCOMING STUDIO ALBUM IN SEARCH OF LOST TIME VIA RCA RECORDS OUT AUGUST 28 - PRE-ORDER NOW The GRAMMY-Nominated Star Taps Koffee, Popcaan, Wiz Khalifa and Supa Dups for a Game-Changing LP [New York, NY – August 6, 2020] Protoje, one of Jamaica's most important music figures in front and behind the scenes, will return with arguably his biggest album to date. In Search of Lost Time is available for pre-order today, August 6th and will be released worldwide on August 28th via In.Digg.Nation Collective / Six Course / RCA Records. Today, he reveals the LP's latest single and video "Like Royalty'' featuring dancehall star Popcaan. His fifth studio album is on the heels of his first GRAMMY nomination for Best Reggae Album in 2019 for A Matter Of Time, his first riddim production Rock & Groove, a recent guest feature on Alicia Keys' "Underdog" remix and a major label record deal partnership with his label and artist management company In.Digg.Nation Collective and RCA Records in 2020. "Like Royalty," produced by Ziah and Winta James, tells Protoje’s story of struggle to triumph and highlights the people in his life who have helped him along the way. In addition to Popcaan, the Storm Saulter directed visual has cameos from In.Digg.Nation Collective artists’ Sevana and Lila Iké and its affiliate Jaz Elise. "The song is about letting my people know that as long as I’m healthy and strong, they have nothing to worry about,” Protoje says. -
PROTOJE Press Kit 2018
PROTOJE Press Kit 2018 www.protoje.com www.encantamusica.com/musicservices The fastest rising Jamaican star of reggae +800,000 followers Protoje's visibility has steadily increased with articles being written in major publications, and a major achievement was being named on BBC 1xtra Hot for 2015 Artist list so he was promoted across the BBC platform. Artists were selected because As Mista Jams of BBC stated "they're producing the quality music needed to become big in the next 12 months. It's a real cross section of really exciting new talent all currently on their A game." Protoje has been gaining momentum throughout the world, performing at quality venues to large audiences and will continue to tour consistently with his band The Indiggnation. They have already been booked extensively for many tours throughout 2018. Playing an important role in the organic and conscious Reggae music revival, Protoje is considered one of the main driving forces behind it. Together with his crew, InDIGGnation Collective, the vehicle he uses to bring the music directly to the people, they express beyond what would be possible with studio recordings. This dub/rock meets reggae fusion forms the signature sound and create a fitting background for equally potent lyrics. A fresh & unique approach to the reggae sound A powerful songwriter and philosophical thinker, Protoje articulates the anger of an emerging generation by re- establishing the standard for the decaying art of socially responsible, mentally stimulating lyricism. Protoje successfully released 3 Albums "The Seven Year Itch,” "The 8 Year Affair" and “Ancient Future” which spawned hits like Rasta Love ft Ky- Mani Marley, Kingston Be Wise which was featured in Grand Theft Auto, and Who Knows ft. -
Lila Iké | Biography Lila Ike (Pronounced Lee-Lah Eye-Kay) Is on the Brink of Stardom. the 26-Year-Old Jamaican Songbird
Lila Iké | Biography Lila Ike (pronounced Lee-lah Eye-kay) is on the brink of stardom. The 26-year-old Jamaican songbird has an edge and ease in her voice that creates an immediate gravitational pull with her listener, fusing contemporary reggae with elements of soul, hip-hop and dancehall. The free-spirited, easy-going singer has already released a handful of velvety smooth songs through In.Digg.Nation Collective, a record label and talent pool for Jamaican creatives, founded by reggae star Protoje. The ExPerience will be Lila Iké’s debut EP for Six Course/RCA Records in a new partnership with In.Digg.Nation Collective. She breathes a delicate testimony of love, infatuation, and spiritual guidance in the 7-track release out this Spring. The EP is padded with previously-released songs such as “Where I’m Coming From” and “Second Chance.” Pivoting from the singles that earned her international acclaim in 2018 and 2019, Lila Iké unveils playful seduction on “I Spy,” her first release of 2020 produced by Izy Beats (the hitmaker behind Koffee’s “Toast”). Beckoning with innocent flirtation over soft guitar licks, Lila in a sweet falsetto sings, “I spy I spy, that you see something you might like. Won’t you come over if you really mean it.” The layers to Lila are in full bloom as she opens up about the daily pressures she faces through her interaction with people and wanting peace of mind in “Solitude” — . On “Stars Align,” Lila flips the instrumental from Protoje’s “Bout Noon” into an anthem about falling in love through the metaphor of making music. -

The use of ganja in Jamaica is still illegal, and its possession is criminal, therefore it is largely used outside of the public eye. No doubt this has contributed to its mystique and appeal. In Jamaica, the use of ganja has primarily been associated with the Rastafari brethren. These days however, lots have changed. Much of Jamaica’s international renown is due to its seeming- ly very integral role in counter cultural movements. -

The Four Singers Began T.O.K – the Acronym Originally Stood for Touch of Klass
T.O.K The four singers began T.O.K – the acronym originally stood for Touch of Klass. In the early ’90s, when Motown’s glee club foursome was sweeping everything before them with their harmonies, T.O.K began by performing R&B covers, but that inevitably changed. As Davidson explained, “We’re Jamaican. That has to come out in the music, and that’s what happened, gradually.” The quartet trained with Jamaican vocal coach Georgia Guerra, played a lot of high school parties, then graduated to the hotel circuit on Jamaica’s expensive North Coast, where they’d inject a little spice into the shows by covering a Bob Marley song or Ini Kamoze’s Hot Stepper. In 1993, they placed second in the annual Tastee Talent Contest. Though they didn’t win, their appearance helped bring them to Nuff Records, where they recorded a few tracks for the label, although nothing hit the charts. By 1996, they were on Sly & Robbie’s Taxi label, where the single, Hit Them High appeared, again making no real impact. From there it was on to Main Street, where they encountered engineer Richard Browne, who was about to start his own label. T.O.K opted to go with the engineer, who was just a couple of years older than they were. Their first effort for his new High Profile label went nowhere, but the follow-up, Hardcore Lover, which teamed them with dancehall queen Lady Saw, rose to number four. Although High Profile didn’t last, the pairing of Browne and T.O.K did. -

Review - DVD - Sting Jamaica 2003 http://www.reggae-vibes.com/rev_dvd/sting2003.htm Title Sting Jamaica 2003 (2 DVD) Artist Various Date January 24 - 2009 Label Charly Films/MVD Visual Format DVD - Region Free Languages English Subtitles None Length 360 minutes (approx.) Producer/Director Gunther Kutsch & Ira Bruggmann - Jean Luc Young Here's a nice release that we've enjoyed watching. Since it started back in 1984, Jamaica's Sting Festival, "The Greatest One-Night Reggae Show on Earth", has established itself as the Island's premier one-night reggae show. Held each year in Portmore, Sting is renowned as being a showcase for the best reggae acts, primarily dancehall, which Jamaica has to offer. Its performers invariably rise to the occasion and it has witnessed many memorable performances over the years. This 2-disc DVD set recorded live in Portmore, St. Catherine, Jamaica on December 27, 2003 features vital dancehall acts like Elephant Man, Beenie Man, Vybz Kartel, Assassin, Bling Dawg and Wayne Marshall. There's also a good part filled with reggae vocalists such as Junior Kelly, Sanchez, Anthony B and the German reggae vocalist Gentleman. Rumor has it that the most bottles, clashes and gunshots "rained" at Sting 2003! Fact is that the concert was brought to a dramatic and premature end following an on-stage brawl between the often-controversial 1 of 3 3/30/2009 3:18 PM Review - DVD - Sting Jamaica 2003 http://www.reggae-vibes.com/rev_dvd/sting2003.htm Ninjaman and Vybz Kartel, who subsequently both made up. But there are also lots of memorable moments (musically wise!).
