MARK TWAIN HOUSE LECTURE WITH EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR PIETER ROOS Monday, April 1, 2019 6:30 pm Registration 6:45 pm Lecture followed by Q&A Back Bay Clubhouse The Mark Twain House and Museum in Hartford, Connecticut, was the home of Samuel Clemens, better known as Mark Twain, and his family from 1874 to 1891. It was designed by Edward Tuckerman Potter and built in the American Gothic style. Clemens biographer Justin Kaplan has called it “part steamboat, part medieval fortress and part cuckoo clock.” Clemens and his family enjoyed what the author would later call the happiest and most productive years of his life in their Hartford home. 1962, which includes both the historic house and The Clemens wrote many of his best-known works while Mark Twain Museum Center. The facility was the first living there, including The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, museum in the nation to attain LEED (Leadership in The Prince and the Pauper, Life on the Mississippi, Energy and Environmental Design) certification from the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, A Tramp Abroad and A U.S.
