I am very glad to present the Annual report of 2016-2017 in which year the organization has completed its 26 th eventful journey, DAPTA is a development support organization has diversified its role in sustainable development of down trodden people, marginal community with a special focus to the development of women , children and tribal people of Kalahandi and other tribal areas of . Since its inception DAPTA is working on five numbers of issues like women empowerment, Agriculture and livelihood, Health care, Education & child right and Humanitarian supports. Witnessing ground reality, we are working with some other network partners.DAPTA usually work for the people with community participation, community involvement and community led evaluation process to lead a sustainable change. This Year DAPTA has covered a large number of women and children mostly in its all project.

PROJECT SASHAKTI (WOMEN EMPOWERMENT)

Since the inception of DAPTA, the organisation is working on women empowerment. DAPTA is working on socio political empowerment and socio economic empowerment. In this project DAPTA is working with elected women representative Panchayat and this year we are working in 92 Panchayat of 6 blocks namely Bhawanipatna, Lanjigarh,Th.Rampur, Koksara, Junagarh , and Karlamunda of Kalahandi district. The main objective of the programme is eradicate hunger and exploitation in the Panchayat and better management of the Panchayat and its Fund through empower women representative of the Panchayat . Also we are working on several social securities issue related to women and violence against women. This year we have implemented lots of programme in Kalahandi district as follows. FAMILY COUNSELING CENTRE Project Area - All 13 blocks of Kalahandi District. Witnessing a huge nos of Domestic Violence and other women related exploitation in Kalahandi, DAPTA is implementing a programme on Family Counseling with the support of Central Social Welfare Board, Govt.of India. This project started in the year 2005/06 and continuing. This year our centre has achieved to counsel and solved many cases as follows. EMPOWERMENT OF ADOLESCENT GIRLS (11 YEARS-18 YEARS)

The project SABALA is meant for capacity building of adolescent girls in order to provide them life skill education which will be helpful to lead a meaningful life and protect themselves from various exploitation in future. DAPTA is implementing this programme in Lanjigarh Block with the support of UNICEF and DWCD, Odisha. This year we have taken following activities in this project and provided capacity building training to 200 adolescent girls . SHAKTI VARTA The Project Shakti Varta is a very noble work implemented in all 13 blocks of the Kalahandi District with the collaboration of WCD Dept. govt.of Odisha. The project was supported by TMST Odisha and IPE Global Newdelhi. The project is based on Participatory Learning and Action Process and has implemented in all 272 GP of Kalahandi District to sensitize 8000 SHG members to reduce infant mortality, maternal mortality, water and sanitation through 544 trained GP facilitators. This year DAPTA had a follow up of this programme which out put is remarkable. In this programme, DAPTA has provided training to 39 master trainers those provided training to all 544 GP facilitators in 4 phase and the GP facilitators organized sensitization meetings at village Shakti Varta point where participatory learning and action has started. Now the out come of this project is clearly visible, the infant mortality rate has decreased, access to health service has increased, enrollment in school has increased, Water and Sanitation system has increased in large number.

Though Kalahandi District claims as second rice producer district in Odisha, still food security a biggest challenge in which a large number of marginal farmers and small farmers are facing lot of problem . From the inception of DAPTA the organization is working with small and marginal farmers to enhance their farm income for a sustainable change. DAPTA has experience to work with Swaminathan Foundation on collaboration basis in the early year when the organization started work on farm base livihood. This year the Organisation has achieved a lot with the support of National Rural Livlihood Mission, Odisha Livlihood Mission, Madhyam Foundation, NABARD and AWO International. MEDP TRAINING This year DAPTA has implemented MEDP Training for women farmers in two phase where 60 nos of women farmers were participated in 7 days training in each on organic farming. This programme was supported by NABARD,Bhubaneswar.

PROJECT SWASTHYA (PREVENTIVE, CURATIVE & PROMOTIVE HEALTH CARE)

Since the inception of DAPTA, DAPTA is associated with various health programme in order to control several health hazards in Kalahandi which district claims a gray area in health management. The district is widely known for high infant mortality rate, high mother mortality rate, maximum malnutrition babies and mothers with other health hazards like malaria (PF), diarrhea, TB, sickle cell, HIV and poor mental health. In this connection, DAPTA is working on 1. Comprehensive Community Health Development Plan 2. Community Mental Health Care Programme 3. Halt & Reverse HIV/AIDS with Transgender Community

COMPREHENSIVE COMMUNITY HEALTH DEVELOPMENT PLAN

The community health initiative remains one of the DAPTA’s flagship services in order to make people to lead a healthy life with dignity. Community participation and ownership is the key which leads the process. DAPTA has organized several programs at household ,community and mass level to increase the knowledge and skill to prevent the diseases and health hazard. Reduction of IMR & MMR burden remains the main focus. Adolescent girls remain instrumental in reaching out the mothers and families to spread and propagate the right key health messages to bring the desired positive health seeking behavior.

OUTPUTS • 763 mass community awareness meeting organized on different topics like malaria, diarrhea, anemia, malnutrition. • 256 no. of FGDs conducted in ANC and PNC mothers and adolescent health and child nutrition and child care. • A service providers training organized to refine and update their knowledge on ANC and PNC. • 1 no of periodical meeting organized with the service providers in order to enhance the coordination and joint planning. • 1 faith healer training organized attended by 35 traditional faith healers. • 16 nos. of SAM children identified and referred to NRC with proper follow up. • 68 nos. of HRPs identified and 32 nos. of mobilized to for institutional delivery. • 10 nos. of school education and quiz competition organized on preventive health, about 1340 students participate in 3 batches. • 8 nos. of GP level adolescent quiz competition organized and 543 girls participated. • 4 no of adolescent sports organized at GP level where 900 no of adolescents participated. • Mass awareness rally organized in 3 places in 3 clusters covering 18 villages spreading and propagating key health messages. • Video show on different health and disease topic organized in 148 times during the year in different villages. • 601 no of chronic and other diseases patients received the appropriate treatment support in referral from which 268 in the first six month and 333 in the 2 nd six month. From the first six month 23 from CHC and 245 from DHH and higher facility. In the 2 nd six month out of 333 CHC referral was 65 and DHH and higher facility referral was 268. • School health education organized in 10 schools on malaria and diarrhea and personal hygiene. • 110 Mal-Mal camp conducted in which (under – 5) 2065 tested and found 843+ve (PF 768 and PV 75), pregnant mother tested 191 and found 70+ve, 759 instant fever tested and found 354+ve. N.B – In the 1 st six months total number of mal-mal camp was 35 and in the 2 nd six months no of mal-mal camp conducted was 75. • 30nos. of cultural programme (street play) organized on IMR and MMR in 30 villages. • 997 Medicated Mosquito Nets (pregnant and lactating mother) and 36 liters Neem Oil has been distributed. • 5774 nos. of fever cases identified early out of which 2626 malaria +ve patients received complete treatment. • A total number 3691 patients (other than malaria) received door step treatment during mal- mal and regular village level health check up. 22 | P a g e

In this project we have working with 480 nos of mental ill people in 2 blocks of Kalahandi district. This project is based on community mental health care in which we are involving family members and community people starting from detection of patients , referral to DAPTA or District mental health unit ,disability certificate , rehabilitation , social mainstreaming and treatment . This project is a very noble project in which 53 nos of patients are in stable conditions .This year we have identified 358 nos of mental ill people out of which severe is 87 , no of common mental illness 271 , no of referred for treatment 348, no of regular treatment 268, no of PWMI relapsed 21, no of PWMI 16, no of PWMI with medicine support 52, no of PWMI with livelihood support 12.

TARGETED INTERVENTION PROJECT FOR MSM/TG , KALAHANDI

GOAL: The goal of NACP-IV is to Halt and reverse the epidemic in India over the next five year. OBJECTIVE: • Prevent Infection through Saturation of Coverage of High risk group with targeted Intervention Scaled up Intervention in the general population. • Provide greater care, Support & Treatment to larger number of PLHA. • Strengthen the Infrastructure, systems & human resources in prevention, care &support programmers at district, state and National levels. • Halt & reverse HIV&AIDS with Transgender. HALT & REVERSE HIV/AIDS WITH TRANSGENDER:-

DAPTA TI Project is being implemented from the year 2009. We work for the MSM/TG Community. We work in the four areas of district namely Bhawanipatna, Lanjigarh, Jaipatna & Junagarh. We are working with a total number of 330 key populations. Out of which 238 is TG & 92 are MSM. We mainly focus to provide clinical services such as HIV testing, VDRL testing, RMC check up and TB testing. Besides that we also give priority to link the key population in various Social Security Schemes. We also focus on their own CBO and Self Help Group for their development and organizing cultural and community events as and when required. MAJOR ACTIVITIES  HOTSPOT LEVEL MEETING:

As we know that the T.I project focus the Targeted TG/MSM peoples, they should have TG behavior and comes under the High Risk Group. Among this people we used to conduct a meeting at each Hotspot in every month. This meeting is known as Hotspot level meeting. Here we mainly emphasized to motivate them for blood testing, Condom promotion for safe 25 | P a g e

sex, and HIV/AIDS awareness activities. During this financial year we did 60nos. of hotspot level meeting with the help of Peer Educator and hotspot committee member, where near about 900 HRGs participated in cumulative .

 DIC LEVEL MEETING:

DIC (Drop in centre) is a best place for HRGs to get Psychosocial Support, STI Counseling, STI Treatment, and Behavior Change Communication (BCC). This is the only place to where HRGs could refer to Several Govt. Facility like ICTC Testing, STI Clinic, and ART Centre, DOT Centre etc. for the Proper Management of DIC and also for the HRGs. We conduct two DIC level meeting on each month. In this financial year we did 24nos. of DIC level meeting, by the help of Peer Educator and Out Reach worker where near about 300 HRGs participated cumulatively.

 ADVOCACY CUM STAKE HOLDER LEVEL MEETING:

This year we conducted an Advocacy Meeting with the Medical Officer In Charge and LT of CHC Junagarh. Objective of this meeting was to start the HIV testing of Key Population at Sub ICTC Junagarh. We focused to have proper coordination and mutual understanding with the staff of Sub ICTC for smoothly conducting the HIV Testing. In this meeting 13 members were present.  29 th WORLD AIDS DAY: We observed World AIDS Day (1 st Dec.2016) for preventing the deadly infection of HIV/AIDS from our state. This day was organized by DAPTA in collaboration with Zilla Swastiya Samithi, Bhawanipatna at Town Hall. On this day all TI staff, Medical staff, ANM, GNM, ASHA, ANGANWADI workers and College students were present and discussed from different angle  HEALTH CAMP& IEC CAMPAIGN: We organized 2 Health Camps at Jaipatna and Junagarh. We them treatment for general diseases and identify the new STI patients who have not come to the clinic for STI treatment among the MSM/TG group.

We have formed One of CBO among the HRGs under society Registration act 1860 for their self-reliant and to gave them a new identity in this society namely: SANJOG through the CBO We would work for their rights & dignity. By the help of CBOs we have spread the HIV/AIDS messages in the community. And gave them care & Support to the PLHA

WASH ACADEMY & COMMUNITY LED SANITATION

Last year farmers of the vegetable producer cooperative were involved and they were manufacturing compressed earth brick , sanitary iteams like ring, sky light and other materials in the brand name of Mahalaxmi Parimal Pratisthan managed by cooperative members. This year the same activities carried on and with the financial support of District Water and Sanitation Mission , DAPTA has constructed 49 numbers of Sanitary latrine which has created example in the district for its quality. In the last year DAPTA had facilitated construction of 789 sanitary latrine in Tileibani Block of Debgad Dist with the support of DWSM and IPE Global and like that DAPTA has facilitated construction of 204 latrine in Karlamunda Block with the support of DWSM Kalahandi. This year , witnessing our best effort one team from Centre for Environment Education had visited our project at Kalahandi to see our Wash Academy programme and witnessing better implementation and community involvement they included DAPTA in Climate Change activities supported by CEE/SGP/UNDP which started in December 2016 and the main focus of the project was as follows. - Reducing Women Drudgery and Poverty based on - Climate Change - Land and Forest Management Activities - Sustainable Agriculture Practices In this Project

Education and child right is one of the core issue of DAPTA working since its inception. As Kalahandi is a poverty stricken district, it has lot of problem with children from birth to adolescent period .In Kalahandi children were suffering much more problem like more infant mortality, Mal nutrition, Livelihood , hazardous labours works , no school facility at village ,no teacher in school, no proper education, not aware on their right , exploitation children and child trafficking. Earlier DAPTA was involved to manage child labour school , child parliament activities, school for street children and for destination unknown children. Also DAPTA has strengthen 20 nos of children group in 20 village. This year DAPTA is following earlier activities to sensitize children on their right . Follow up activities of destination unknown children campaign . We have organized many child health camp , Mal-Mal camp active growth monitoring of under 5 children , form and strengthen 80 nos of adolescent girls club in order to educate them to promote fellowship, formal education trafficking , children right and p[protection . we have organized 12 nos of health education programme for children in various school and organized 4 nos of sports event for girls n order to strengthen their capacity and their protection. Besides that DAPTA is managing one play school in Bhawanipatna since last 17 years where 80 nos of children attending regularly. AWARENESS CAMPAIGN ON VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN - Objectives of the campaign-To create opportunity for “ALIBHA” federation and MAS member for raising awareness on violence against women and increase women’s safety in locality. To create awareness building on various laws related to women violence among community.

The Violence against Women Campaign 2016 was implemented in six blocks in two villages for 7 days, covering 18 GPs, from 01.12.2015 to 07.12.2015.In the first day a decorated van with creative posters on VAW issues and a folk dance group started their Campaign which encouraged the community and raised consciousness to stop domestic violence, sex-selective abortions, malnutrition, and sexual harassment at work places and to make advocacy on women’s rights and gender equality. Students meeting on VAW- 03 no’s of students meetings were organized in the KGVB school in Mushanal of Lanjigarh, +2 college of Biswanathpur and junagad block. In the meetings both boys & Girls student were participated and discussed women violence and gender discrimination in our society. Teachers and lecturers were participated in the meeting and discussed the above issue with students. We have organized 3 nos of sensitization programme on trafficking of children and women in 3 nos of migration prone block Bhawanipatna, Th Rampur and Lanjigarh. We sensitized panchayet level PRI members and other stake holders those can make a break in migration. We have decided to do advocacy with govt. depts. in order to check forced migration. Besides that DAPTA has completed one survey work on 10 nos of Primary schools of Lanjigarh block of Kalahandi District Where value in education system is quite negligible and teachers attendance is very poor. As part of our mission, this year We have distributed usable cloths to lot of poor people those have no cloth to wear.
