Under Nation Building, Yi engages its members under the board categories of education, environment, healthcare, employability, arts (sports & culture) and rural initiatives contributing positively to its surrounding eco system and the nation.

YUVA is Yi's initiative to create active dialogue with college students and engage them in self-development, community development and Nation Building activities. Through YUVA, Yi also aims to provide a platform for students to become change agents.

The agenda of YUVA for the year will be prepared by the students of the YUVA institutions themselves by identifying like minded students and forming clusters for Entrepreneurship, Innovation, Skill Building and Learning (Similar to the verticals in Yi). The Students then discuss, debate and arrive at their specific topics of interest wherein Yi will support them by organizing learning events, workshops, interactions, etc., under the respective verticals of Yi. Most of the work in terms of planning and implementation lies with the students to give them accountability and make them responsible.

GiftAnOrgan PROJECT PLAN AND TIMELINE An Organ Donation Awareness Initiative of CII & Yi Coimbatore The campaign has many phases throughout the course of the year addressing Industries, Institutions, Associations and public at large. The campaign was executed starting July third week and was divided into the following phases: The idea is not to change human habit, but simply to correct unwarranted belief! With the large population India is always famed for, changing the mind-set of few hundred thousand was the aim of the project – which could hopefully PHASE I : AWARENESS [20 JULY – 20 AUGUST 2015] change the life stories of a few people who lie in wait for organ donors. Almost everyone reading this would nod their Promotions across the city on Organ Donation through heads at the idea of organ donation but very few of us actually have taken those 10 minutes to pledge our organs. Hoardings across the city Articles in newspapers Thus, we believed a well-rounded communication programme would be the need of the hour, where we would be Posters at all hospitals Radio / TV special programs constantly talking to those people who are willing to donate but haven't prioritized the act yet and (hopefully) Standees at all hospitals Social Media Campaigns (fb/giftanorgan) persuade them to take the next step, and pledge their organs. Brochures in English and Tamil Awareness Talks at various forums Advertisements in print media For the same, we have roped in Ogilvy & Mather (O&M), an international Advertising agency, to be the Street Plays creative partner and help us create a buzz in and around Coimbatore city. A viral video was created which featured Actor Surya, one of the top Tamil Actors, who has also agreed to be the brand ambassador for the project and supported the cause. A general awareness video was created featuring few of the top doctors from Coimbatore region which is aimed at busting the myths surrounding Organ Donation.

The GiftAnOrgan initiative is as a joint effort by by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) - Coimbatore Zone & Young Indians (Yi) - Coimbatore Chapter. We have gotten all leading hospitals in Coimbatore to lend their support for this cause. There are 12 hospitals in Coimbatore who are into Organ Transplantation and all 12 of them have agreed to support the cause. This, we believe, is nearly impossible in any other city in the country!

This initiative is driven by the joint effort of all of the Leading Hospitals in Coimbatore city like, Aravind Eye Hospital GEM Hospital Coimbatore Kidney Care & Research P Ltd KG Hospital G Kuppuswamy Naidu Memorial Hospital Kovai Medical Center and Hospital Ganga Medical Centre & Hospitals Pvt. Ltd. PSG Hospitals Sankara Eye Care Institutions India Sree Abirami Hospital (P) Ltd. Sri Ramakrishna Hospital SPT Hospitals

Seeing all our effots, Transplant Authority of Tamil Nadu – TRANSTRAN has also come forward to support the cause.

Swachh Bharat

Yi Coimbatore Chapter is acvely involved in many Swachh Bharath acvies across the city and has executed mulple projects during Swachh Bharath day, Naonal Volunteering Week, Coimbatore Vizha, etc. Child abuse is a state of emotional, physical, economic and sexual maltreatment meted out to a person below the age of eighteen and is a globally prevalent phenomenon. Child abuse has serious physical and psycho-social consequences which adversely affect the health and overall well-being of a child. According to WHO: ''Child abuse or maltreatment constitutes all forms of physical and/or emotional ill-treatment, sexual abuse, neglect or negligent treatment or commercial or other exploitation, resulting in actual or potential harm to the child's health, survival, development or dignity in the context of a relationship of responsibility, trust or power.'' In the Indian context, acceptance of child rights as primary inviolable rights is fairly recent, as is the universal understanding of it. In 2007, the Indian government backed a survey of 125000 children in Thirteen states. Of the children interviewed, more than half (53%) said that they had been subjected to one or more forms of sexual abuse. Over 20% of those interviewed said they were subjected to severe forms of abuse. Of those who said they were sexually abused, 57% were boys.

To create awareness among the children and sensitize them and their parents about Child Safety, Project Masoom was launched by Young Indians. Yi Coimbatore joined the bandwagon organized awareness sessions in more than 70 schools and impacted over 20000 children.
