Irland Hymne Irland Irland (der amtlich verwendete deutsche Name ist Irland. Die offizielle Eigenbezeichnung lautet irisch Éire bzw. englisch Ireland. Häufig wird zur Unterscheidung von Nordirland auch der Begriff Republik Irland (engl. Republic of Ireland) verwendet) ist ein Inselstaat auf der gleichnamigen Insel Irland. Er grenzt im Norden an das Vereinigte Königreich (Nordirland) und ist im Osten von der Iri- schen See und im Westen und Süden vom Atlantik umgeben. Irland ist seit 1973 Mitglied der Euro- päischen Union. Ein Großteil der Bevölkerung bekennt sich zum römisch-katholischen Glauben. Hymne Amhrán na bhFiann (engl. The Soldier’s Song) ist die Nationalhymne der Republik Irland. Sie wurde 1907 von Peadar Kearney auf Englisch geschrieben und 1926 ins Irische übersetzt. Die Melodie wurde von Peadar Kearney und Patrick Heeney komponiert.Amhrán na bhFiann ist die Na- tionalhymne lediglich der Republik Irland, Nordirland als solches fühlt sich durch dieses Lied nicht repräsentiert. Als Nationalhymne gilt nur der Refrain, nicht die Strophen des Liedes. Gewöhnlich wird die irisch- sprachige Version gesungen. Vorläufer von Amhrán na bhFiann war das Lied God Save Ireland, das 1867 von Timothy Daniel Sullivan im Gedenken an drei in England hingerichtete irische Freiheits- kämpfer verfasst worden war. Es galt seit dem Osteraufstand des Jahres 1916 als inoffizielle Natio- nalhymne der Irischen Republik. Die Saison richtet sich seit Mitte 2003 wie in Skandinavien und Russland und entgegen den Ge- pflogenheiten der größeren europäischen Verbände nach dem Kalenderjahr, was dazu führt, dass in europäischen Wettbewerben stets die Sieger des Vorjahres antreten. Der Meister wird im reinen Ligamodus zwischen den zur Zeit zehn Mannschaften der Premier Division ermittelt, die zehn Teams der First Division spielen gleichzeitig den Aufstieg in die höchste Klasse aus.     CHAIRMAN’S MESSAGE Welcome to the 2019 SSE Airtricity League. It is great to have the domestic game back and this is a truly exhilarating time of the year. Last season proved to be exciting throughout the campaign as Dundalk secured the domestic double, the SSE Airtricity League and the Irish Daily Mail FAI Cup in emphatic style. Stephen Kenny's proved to be the team to beat last season after a fantastic campaign as Pat Hoban led the goalscoring charts with 29 goals. The Lilywhites will have a period of adjustment though after Stephen Kenny left for the FAI to take on the Republic of Ireland Under-21 position before moving into the senior role in 2020. John Gill has gone into Dundalk to work with Vinny Perth so it will be interesting to see how the Champions get used to life without Stephen. There are a number of teams who have made some noteworthy additions during the off-season with the likes of Chris Forrester and Mikey Drennan at St. Patrick's Athletic, Aaron Drinan at Waterford, Jack Byrne at Shamrock Rovers and the return to Kevin O'Connor to Cork City. I truly believe that this will be one of the most exciting seasons in recent memory in both the Premier and First Division. Shelbourne have made some fantastic signings with Ciaran Kilduff returning to the domestic game and Paul Keegan has made the step down to the First Division with Bray Wanderers. The beauty of the First Division is that anyone of the teams could challenge like Wexford Youths did in 2015, and to see Danny Furlong back at Ferrycarrig Park should excite us all.
