As Seen on TV…And More! June 21 & 22, 2019 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE World-renowned ANGEL CITY CHORALE to perform in June Concert Angel City Chorale: As Seen on TV…And More! June 21 & 22, 2019 Los Angeles’ own ANGEL CITY CHORALE continues its 26th season with their June concert "As Seen on TV... and More!", a showcase for the many talents of this world-famous group, under the spirited baton of Artistic Director, Sue Fink. Garnering international acclaim on network television and nearly 50 million views on YouTube, ACC will present music made popular by themselves and others on the small screen. The centerpiece will be encore performances of the four songs that took ANGEL CITY CHORALE all the way to the Semi Finals on NBC’s America's Got Talent. The evening will include music in celebration of the Game of Thrones finale and a memorable medley of classic TV theme songs. For gaming fans, get ready for stirring renditions of Liberi Fatali (from Final Fantasy VIII) and Sogno di Volare (from Civilization VI), which ACC had the honor of recording for the game itself. But the diverse talents of ANGEL CITY CHORALE do not end there! To round out the concert, you'll be treated to world music (Rauði riddarinn from Iceland), gospel (So Good), a glorious contemporary classical piece (Let My Love be Heard) by rising young composer Jake Runestad, and so much more. Joining them will be special guests the Angel City Youth Chorale, a group of talented young singers hand-picked from the Los Angeles Boys & Girls Clubs. You’ve seen them on TV. Now, witness in person the dynamic and diverse singing sensation critics and audiences alike have hailed as “powerful,” “inspirational” and an “important voice of unity and diversity.” Angel City Chorale: As Seen on TV…And More! will be held June 21 th and June 22st at 7pm at Barnum Hall in Santa Monica, CA. For tickets: angelcitychorale.org ABOUT ANGEL CITY CHORALE Now in its 26th year as one of the premiere singing groups in Southern California, Angel City Chorale (ACC) reflects the spirit and diversity of Los Angeles in its membership, its music, and its outreach activities. Equally committed to good music and good deeds, the chorale is dedicated to “Building Community One Song at a Time.” Renowned Artistic Director Sue Fink founded ACC at the world-famous McCabe’s Guitar Shop in 1993 with just 18 singers. Angel City Chorale has now grown to over 180 talented and dedicated singers who present a broad and eclectic repertoire including classical, gospel, jazz, pop and world music. Most recently, Angel City Chorale competed on NBC’s top-rated talent competition America’s Got Talent. Hailed by Simon Cowell as “one of the best choirs we’ve ever had,” ACC earned the coveted Golden Buzzer and reached the Semi- Finals, touching over 20 million viewers with their rich sound and compelling message of unity and diversity. Angel City Chorale has also performed at venues throughout Los Angeles, including the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, the Kodak Theater, the Los Angeles Coliseum (for the Los Angeles Rams) and the Nokia Theater at LA Live. The choir has appeared on national and local television, including the 2000 Democratic National Convention and worked with artists such as pop sensation Rita Ora, R & B legend Stevie Wonder, singer-songwriter Mary Chapin Carpenter, soul singer Luther Vandross, and British popstar Natasha Bedingfield. True to their mission of community building, Angel City Chorale is collaborating with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Los Angeles County in forming the Angel City Youth Chorale. The group continues to foster the arts and provide the youth of Southern California a safe place to explore their musical talents. The program is in its second year and hopes to expand beyond the Boys & Girls Clubs of Venice and Santa Monica. Angel City Chorale is proudest of its ongoing commitment to the Los Angeles community. Through the gift of song, donations, and volunteerism, the group supports several Los Angeles non-profit organizations serving those in the community who need it most. Central to ACC’s mission is its annual Holiday Tour of Hope program. Over the past 16 years, they have taken their holiday concert repertoire directly to more than 30 service organizations in Los Angeles. In addition to the gift of music, ACC donates food, personal items, clothing, and supplies to these organizations. Angel City Chorale is a California Non-Profit Public Benefit Corporation and 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. For additional information contact [email protected].

The Road Not Taken: a Journal of Formal Poetry Winter 2012 • Winter Issue TO OUR READERS: as I'm sure you're all aware, it's about time for the spring issue. However, due to technical issues with this website, we're are going to have to rebuild entirely from the ground up. This will happen in May. With the new website will come the Spring issue. And it will happen at this URL, so please be patient with us. Welcome to our Winter 2012 Issue. This is my first issue in the wake of the passing of Lee, but I will honor his tradition and begin with a tribute to a formal poet from the past of surpassing virtue. I would like to introduce our readers to a little-known Welsh poet, Huw Menai. "Huw", for those of you who are not Welsh speakers, is pronounced like the English "Hugh". "Menai" was his pen name. His real name was Huw Menai Williams. He was a Welsh miner through the early Twentieth Century. Despite this life lived underground, he produced a large volume of poetry, much of it on spare bits of mining company paper. At the rate he was producing, of course it wasn't all going to be stellar. But he did produce some real gems. His four volumes of poetry sold modestly through the mid fifties into the early sixties and then went out of print. I think my collection of his work is perhaps the only complete one in the United States. I will give you my favorite below.

A R C H O N S HIDDEN RULERS THROUGH THE AGES A R C H O N S HIDDEN RULERS THROUGH THE AGES WATCH THIS IMPORTANT VIDEO UFOs, Aliens, and the Question of Contact MUST-SEE THE OCCULT REASON FOR PSYCHOPATHY Organic Portals: Aliens and Psychopaths KNOWLEDGE THROUGH GNOSIS Boris Mouravieff - GNOSIS IN THE BEGINNING ...1 The Gnostic core belief was a strong dualism: that the world of matter was deadening and inferior to a remote nonphysical home, to which an interior divine spark in most humans aspired to return after death. This led them to an absorption with the Jewish creation myths in Genesis, which they obsessively reinterpreted to formulate allegorical explanations of how humans ended up trapped in the world of matter. The basic Gnostic story, which varied in details from teacher to teacher, was this: In the beginning there was an unknowable, immaterial, and invisible God, sometimes called the Father of All and sometimes by other names. “He” was neither male nor female, and was composed of an implicitly finite amount of a living nonphysical substance. Surrounding this God was a great empty region called the Pleroma (the fullness). Beyond the Pleroma lay empty space. The God acted to fill the Pleroma through a series of emanations, a squeezing off of small portions of his/its nonphysical energetic divine material. In most accounts there are thirty emanations in fifteen complementary pairs, each getting slightly less of the divine material and therefore being slightly weaker. The emanations are called Aeons (eternities) and are mostly named personifications in Greek of abstract ideas.

  • THE COLLECTED POEMS of HENRIK IBSEN Translated by John Northam
1 THE COLLECTED POEMS OF HENRIK IBSEN Translated by John Northam 2 PREFACE With the exception of a relatively small number of pieces, Ibsen’s copious output as a poet has been little regarded, even in Norway. The English-reading public has been denied access to the whole corpus. That is regrettable, because in it can be traced interesting developments, in style, material and ideas related to the later prose works, and there are several poems, witty, moving, thought provoking, that are attractive in their own right. The earliest poems, written in Grimstad, where Ibsen worked as an assistant to the local apothecary, are what one would expect of a novice. Resignation, Doubt and Hope, Moonlight Voyage on the Sea are, as their titles suggest, exercises in the conventional, introverted melancholy of the unrecognised young poet. Moonlight Mood, To the Star express a yearning for the typically ethereal, unattainable beloved. In The Giant Oak and To Hungary Ibsen exhorts Norway and Hungary to resist the actual and immediate threat of Prussian aggression, but does so in the entirely conventional imagery of the heroic Viking past. From early on, however, signs begin to appear of a more personal and immediate engagement with real life. There is, for instance, a telling juxtaposition of two poems, each of them inspired by a female visitation. It is Over is undeviatingly an exercise in romantic glamour: the poet, wandering by moonlight mid the ruins of a great palace, is visited by the wraith of the noble lady once its occupant; whereupon the ruins are restored to their old splendour.
