Background Seagrasses (Zostera spp) are marine flowering plants that develop on sands and muds in sheltered intertidal and shallow subtidal areas. Seagrass beds are important marine habitats but are vulnerable to a range of human induced pressures. Their vulnerability and importance to habitat creation and ecological functioning is recognised in their inclusion on the recommended Priority Marine Features list for Scotland’s seas. Prior to this study, there were few confirmed records of Zostera in Orkney waters. This study combined a predictive modelling approach with boat-based surveys to enhance under- standing of seagrass distribution in Orkney and inform conservation management. -

The list 24 is based on historical literature records and new revisions. The ichthyofauna list is 25 composed by 397 species very diversified in 2 superclass, 3 class, 35 orders, 139 1 1 families and 288 genus. The order Perciformes is the most diverse one with 37 families, 2 91 genus and 135 species. Gobiidae (19 species) and Sparidae (19 species) are the 3 richest families. Biogeographically, the Lusitanian group includes 203 species (51.1%), 4 followed by 149 species of the Atlantic (37.5%), then 28 of the Boreal (7.1%), and 17 5 of the African (4.3%) groups. We have recognized 41 new records, and 3 other records 6 have been identified as doubtful. -

E-mail: [email protected] Abstract: During the study of the interstitial fauna from Cymodocea nodosa meadows and nearby sandy bottoms of the Canary Islands (Eastern Central Atlantic Ocean), six cumacean species were collected. Iphinoe inermis was recorded for the first time in the Atlantic Ocean and a new species, Iphinoe canariensis sp. nov., is described. During the monthly monitoring survey, cumaceans showed a low frequency of occurrence (25%) in the whole community. The two-year seasonal samplings showed higher cumacean densities in winter, when 77% of specimens were collected. Cumaceans were more abundant in the nearby sandy bottoms (62%) than in Cymodocea meadows, and in the upper layer of sediment than in the lower layers. Résumé: Cumacés interstitiels des fonds sableux et des herbiers à Cymodoce des Iles Canaries. Six espèces de cumacés ont été récoltées aux îles Canaries dans le cadre d’une étude sur la faune interstitielle provenant des herbiers à Cymodocea no- dosa et des fonds sableux limitrophes. Iphinoe inermis est signalée pour la première fois dans l’océan Atlantique et une nou- velle espèce, Iphinoe canariensis sp. nov. est décrite. Les échantillonnages mensuels réalisés durant deux années montrent que les cumacés sont relativement peu fréquents au sein de la communauté (25 %) et plus abondants en hiver. -

Scolex Pleuronectis (Cestoda) Infections in Several Bony Fish Species Collected from Sinop Coasts of the Black Sea

Fish were collected by commercial fishermen in Sinop coasts of the Black Sea in April and May 2014. Infection prevalence and mean intensity values were determined as 12.5% and 2.00 ± 0.0 in shore rockling; 4.76% and 1.00 ± 0.0 in Atlantic horse mackerel; 20.0% and 6.80 ± 3.20 in botched picarel; 20.00% and 4.00 ± 0.0 in grass goby and, 1.44% and 55.00 ± 0.0 in round goby. Our results showed that this parasite species can be found widely at its larval stage in many bony fish species in the Black Sea. Compiling different bibliographical sources, a total of 732 taxa of specific and subspecific order remained. It is about the six large vertebrate classes of Romanian fauna. The first class (Cyclostomata) is represented by only four species, and Pisces (here considered super-class) – by 184 taxa. The rest of 544 taxa belong to Tetrapoda super-class which includes the other four vertebrate classes: Amphibia (20 taxa); Reptilia (31); Aves (382) and Mammalia (110 taxa). Résumé. Cette contribution à la systématique des vertébrés de Roumanie s’adresse à tous ceux qui sont intéressés par la zoologie en général et par la classification de ce groupe en spécial. Elle représente le début d’une thème de confrontation des opinions des spécialistes du domaine, ayant pour but final d’offrir aux élèves, aux étudiants, aux professeurs de biologie ainsi qu’à tous ceux intéressés, une synthèse actualisée de la classification des vertébrés de Roumanie. En compilant différentes sources bibliographiques, on a retenu un total de plus de 732 taxons d’ordre spécifique et sous-spécifique. Il s’agît des six grandes classes de vertébrés. La première classe (Cyclostomata) est représentée dans la faune de Roumanie par quatre espèces, tandis que Pisces (considérée ici au niveau de surclasse) l’est par 184 taxons. Le reste de 544 taxons font partie d’une autre surclasse (Tetrapoda) qui réunit les autres quatre classes de vertébrés: Amphibia (20 taxons); Reptilia (31); Aves (382) et Mammalia (110 taxons). -

Comparative analysis of BIOCHEMISTRY interspecies differences showed that the medium level of enzyme activity is very high only in the liver of annular seabream and horse mackerel. The Black Sea carnivorous species (scorpion fish, stargazers, shore rockling and whiting) have low values of the medium level of enzyme activity (range from 0.02 to 62.79 mg/s/g of protein). Enzyme activity did not depend on fish sex, their age or location. Research has established a lack of any link between enzyme activity and age for both the scorpion fish and high body pickerel. While studying the effects of seasonal peculiarities on enzyme activity in the liver of two dominant species in the coastal zone, it was concluded that enzyme activity is lower in winter than in other seasons.
