into intermodal transport chains by harmonising administrative procedures and offering a set of information and communication (ICT) tools and services for easing the mandatory data supply as well as the data delivery to other partners in the chain while ensuring the reliability and security of all the data transmissions within the system. This has been done by integrating results of previously successful RTD projects and industrial strength solutions into a large-scale demonstration covering 14 of the major seaports all over Europe (from Finland to Greece). IP is a combined RTD/Demonstration project for the Task 2.3.2/2 “Innovative Waterborne Transport Concepts” of the 1st Call for the 5th Framework Programme, Thematic Programme “Competitive and Sustainable Growth”, Key Action “Sustainable Mobility and Intermodality”. To carry out this project, a group of key actors in the area of transport telematics joined efforts throughout Europe. They represent Port Community Service providers, Port Authorities and Transport Research Institutes. Massimo Cannas4 Department of Business and Economic Science, University of Cagliari, Italy. Vessel arrival uncertainty in ports has become a very common problem worldwide. Although ship operators have to notify the Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) at predetermined time intervals, they frequently have to update the latest ETA due to unforeseen circumstances. This causes a series of inconveniences that often impact on the efficiency of terminal operations, especially in the daily planning scenario. Thus, for our study we adopted a machine learning approach in order to provide a qualitative estimate of the vessel delay/advance and to help mitigate the consequences of late/early arrivals in port. Using data on delays/advances at the individual vessel level, a comparative study between two transshipment container terminals is presented and the performance of three algorithmic models is evaluated. Results of the research indicate that when the distribution of the outcome is bimodal the performance of the discrete models is highly relevant for acquiring data characteristics. Therefore, the models are not flexible in representing data when the outcome distribution exhibits unimodal behavior.

Italian container ports are classified in four groupings: Ligurian, north Adriatic and Campanian multi-port gateway clusters, and Italian hub port system. Firstly, the Italian maritime foreign trade is analyzed and it is compared to the total Italian foreign trade carried out by all means of transport. This survey has been accomplished in order to study the effects of the economic and financial crisis in Italy (which began in 2008 and is currently in force) on maritime transport. Then, the container throughput at all Italian ports is studied. From this study, it emerges that the most important Italian port cluster is the Ligurian one: its throughput has shown a positive trend; but the greatest growth rate is shown by the north Adriatic gateway cluster. Italian hub ports register instead a negative trend. Afterwards, SSS container routes of the year 2018 are analyzed. The detected routes are extensively reported in the Appendix of the paper. SSS container routes calling at Italian ports in the year 2018 are compared with those of 2010.

Total capacity : 126,000 m3 of Liquid Natural Gas at a temperature of -162°C Robin des Bois - 1 - Shipbreaking # 62 – June 2021 Ramdane Abane. IMO 7411961. Length 274 m. Algerian flag. Classification society Bureau Veritas. Built in1981 in Saint-Nazaire (France) by Chantiers de l'Atlantique. She was the last in a series of 5 vessels built in France for Compagnie Nationale Algerienne De Navigation. Throughout their trading life, they have ensured the export of Algerian natural gas from Arzew and Skikda ports to the clients of Sonatrach, the Algerian national oil and gas company. Montoir (France), le 14 March 2008. © Erwan Guéguéniat The 5 LNG tankers were all named after heroes of the Algerian war of independence. The Mostefa Ben Boulaïd, Larbi Ben M'hidi and Bachir Chihani built by Constructions navales et industrielles de la Méditerranée in La Seyne-sur-Mer were scrapped in Turkey in 2017 and 2018 (see "Shipbreaking" # 44, p 31 and # °48, p. 32-33), the Mourad Didouche built in Saint-Nazaire was deflagged, renamed Mourato and beached in Bangladesh in February 2019 (see "Shipbreaking" # 55 p. 41). The Ramdane Abane, the last of the series, is also the last to be scrapped. On October 27, 2014, loaded with 80,000 m3 of gas destined for the Turkish terminal of Botas in the Sea of Marmara, she suffered a blackout in the Dardanelles Strait.
