Drummond (2002a; 2005; 2010) has found that men will use sport and health-related sports acts to conceal these concerns from others. Accordingly, men’s body dissatisfactions are documented less frequently because the practices drawn upon to conceal them are perceived as routine forms of masculine behaviour. Rugby union is one of the most popular sports played by young men in England. Historically, the male rugby player is culturally perceived as strong, tough and unemotionally articulate. Existing research draws attention to health issues, such as performance stress and injury that arise through participation in this sport. Research also shows that rugby union players are likely to experience concerns about gaining weight, yet these are disguised within the requirements of training for the sport. Although, there are studies that examine the constitution of masculinities, the experience of pain and injury and career transitions among rugby union players there are no studies, as yet, that examine how rugby union men experience body concerns and manage these experiences through their sport.

    Chapter 5 Transportation Planning Base Studies Village of Rye Brook, New York CHAPTER 5 TRANSPORTATION This chapter provides background on transportation elements af- fecting residents, commuters and businesses in the Village of Rye Brook. These elements include the road system, public transporta- tion, and Westchester County Airport (HPN). The moving of people and goods is essential for any community. Community transporta- tion assets, traffic conditions and census data are presented here to allow the full transportation picture for the Village of Rye Brook. 5.1 Road System The road system in the Village of Rye Brook includes limited ac- cess roadways, major arterial roadways, collector roads and local streets. There are approximately 30 miles of roadways in the Vil- lage. Each roadway is designed to serve a different function to move people and goods in an efficient manner. Map 5-1 Road Net- work on page 5-2 shows the four categories of roadways. A. Limited Access Roadways Limited access roadways consist of routes that do not have many access points except at major roadway intersections, or in the case of interstates or parkways, only have access through controlled in- Figure 5-1. Hybrids 15% American 7% Muscadines 1% Profiles and Challenges…continued… • V. vinifera cultivars are the most widely grown in Oklahoma…; however, observation and research has shown most European cultivars to be highly susceptible to cold damage. • More research needs to be conducted to elicit where European cultivars will do best in Oklahoma. • French-American hybrids are good alternatives due to their better cold tolerance, but have not been embraced by Oklahoma grape growers... Reasons for this bias likely include hybrid cultivars being perceived as lower quality than European cultivars, lack of knowledge of available hybrid cultivars, personal preference, and misinformation.
