The two teams of atrocious cooks, one mentored by Alex and the other by Anne, need all the help they can get as they stumble their way through outrageous challenges designed to improve their kitchen skills. In the end, the one recruit who makes the biggest culinary transformation wins a $25,000 cash prize and bragging rights for their team leader. The seven-episode season premieres on Sunday, June 21st at 9pm (all times ET/PT) on Food Network. “Worst Cooks is always filled with unexpected hilarious and inspirational moments, and Alex joining Anne as a mentor really brings the humor and expertise to the next level,” said Courtney White, President, Food Network. “Viewers are in for a fun ride with these two chefs in charge at boot camp.” This season’s recruits are: Dolores Aguilar-Fernandez (Cypress, Texas); Evan Baker (Bismarck, North Dakota); Darian Barnes (Rahway, New Jersey); Holly Brooks (Lancaster, Pennsylvania); Zack Ignoffo (Chicago, Illinois); Domaine Javier (San Gabriel, California); Jewels McIlroy (Syracuse, New York); Johannes “Yo” Phelps (Davenport, Iowa); Ari Robinson (Simpsonville, South Carolina); Denise Schroder (Oklahoma City, Oklahoma); Louisa Sharamatyan (Glendale, California); Eric Smart (Los Angeles, California); Erin Sullivan (Mayfield, Kentucky) and Brianna Weidenbach (Martin, Tennessee). In the premiere episode, Anne and Alex welcome fourteen of the country’s worst cooks with very frightened but open arms. In order to pick their teams, Anne and Alex must determine what they’re working with, so for their first baseline challenge the recruits are tasked with making their favorite childhood dish. Then for the main challenge, the recruits learn how to spice up their cooking by making Jamaican jerk chicken – and the two recruits who cluck it up are sent home. Upcoming episodes include a Japanese cuisine themed sushi-rolling and bento box challenge, blindfolded donut eating contest and a trip through past kitchen disasters. In the finale on Sunday, August 2nd at 9pm, the two most-improved recruits must prepare a three-course restaurant quality meal for judges Mary Giuliani, Julian Rodarte and James Tahhan in a blind taste-test to determine the winner of $25,000 and bragging rights for their team leader.     Anne Burrell With her trademark spiky blonde hair and sparkling personality, Anne Burrell is the hugely popular and fan favorite host of Worst Cooks in America, Worst Cooks in America: Celebrity Edition, as well as the new Food Network series Vegas Chef Prize Fight. Burrell is an industry veteran and passionate teacher who prides herself on creating rustic Italian dishes that celebrate simple and pure ingredients. Growing up in upstate New York, Anne’s passion for food and cooking began at an early age, triggered by her love of watching Julia Child and her own mother’s talent in the kitchen. After graduating with a degree in English and Communication from Canisius College in Buffalo, she pursued her interest in the restaurant business by enrolling in the Culinary Institute of America. Following her graduation in 1996, she furthered her education by spending a year in Italy attending the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners. During that year, she did apprenticeships at La Taverna del Lupo in Umbria and the Michelin-starred La Bottega del ‘30, a 30-seat restaurant that offered one six-course seating a night in Tuscany. It was during this period that Anne developed her true love of the Italian kitchen and grew to appreciate and understand the philosophy of Italian cuisine. BUILDING BRANDS TO THEIR BOILING POINT Upon her return to the United States in 1998, Burrell was hired as a Sous Chef at Felidia Ristorante in Manhattan alongside Lidia Bastianich. Each week, two extremely talented, passionate and creative baking family duos face-off against each other in a fun head-to-head bake off at Carlo’s Bakery in Hoboken, New Jersey. The contestants, spanning from professionals to emerging chefs to passionate weekend bakers, will have every fiber of their baking abilities tested as Buddy sets a unique challenge in each episode. With help from his own family and Carlo’s Bakery staff, Buddy and two members of his team mentor and judge the visiting family’s delicious creations on design, flavor, technique, finish and how well the contestants followed a central theme -- ranging from unicorns, sci-fi, 3D, Halloween and much more!
