    Competition Rules Shepherd Neame Kent Cup 1. The Competition is open to all Clubs, which are in full membership and affiliated membership of the Kent County RFU and shall be played under the Rules and Regulations of the Rugby Football Union. 2. The management of this Competition shall be vested in the County Committee which shall appoint a Sub-Committee to be known as the Competitions Sub-Committee, which shall be responsible to the County Committee for organising the Competition and shall have full powers so to do and deal with all disputes and transgressions, including the power to disqualify any participating Club which may infringe any of the Rules of the Competition. 3. Only Bona Fide playing members of participating Clubs who have played 5 matches during the season for any team of the Club may be selected and no player may play for more than one Club in the Competition in any one season. Failure to comply with this rule will carry automatic disqualification of both Club and player in the current Competition. 4. NCA clubs playing in National League 1 level must enter their 3rd/Development teams (or lower) in the Kent Cup and Plate competitions. The definition of a 3rd/Development team player is any player selected for their team in the Kent Cup or Plate must NOT have been in consecutive starting 1st or 2nd XV( i.e. excluding replacements) line-ups in the 5 games prior to any Kent Cup or Plate match. Our guests today are Medway RFC. Medway are a strong and popular club within London 2 South East and deservedly so. Certainly, they have always welcomed ICharlton Park RFC to their ground in the Medway Towns, in a typical rugby manner - fierce and fair competition on the field, with good companionship and friendship afterward. Since their formation on 1947 they have improved and maintained their fixture list and are now justifiably a vital and strong club in this quadrant of the London Division. Both clubs have performed well this season, with Medway, lying third in the league having beaten second placed Maidstone twice. We at Charlton Park are very grateful for that, as, barring any clerical errors or untoward penalty points that we may accrue in my worst nightmares, we are the league champions. However, please do not let anyone think that this is a game which has no competitive edge, I have it from Mark Marriott, now Vice Chairman of Medway, that they are out to win today and we would not expect it any other way We are also delighted to welcome an ex-President of Kent, John Carley, who has agreed to present the winners plaque for London 2 South East, after the game, John has been a great friend to Charlton Park and indeed to Kent rugby and we are delighted to see him here once more.

All clubs will be affected by major grants being halted in this financial year. Kent will see an 18% reduction in the new Local Funding system equivalent to around £20k and a reduction of 40% equivalent to £4K in contribution for fielding senior men’s and women’s teams and men’s U 20’s in their respective county championship competitions.

NEW CLUBHOUSE BUILDING PROJECT As you know we had agreed to withdraw our application for funds for a proposed two storey building as proved to be a bit ambitious in the current climate. Since then we have been working on a different, less costly solution to build on the existing footprint of the clubhouse. The plan is to erect a “shell” over our current building not including the brick built changing rooms and then fit out once under cover. Our architect has drawn up revised plans which have been submitted to London Borough of Bromley (LBB) Planning in order to confirm our architects view that this would still be acceptable within the existing Outline Planning Permission granted in March 2011. The new proposal includes 2 changing rooms, a larger hall plus about the same bar area as we currently enjoy additionally we are asking for a high pitched roof to give the club some additional basic storage and office space. We are keen to present to members a plan that has LBB approval in order to be able discuss a firm proposal however members comments and opinions will be sought before finalizing through open meetings, publication of plans on the website and on the screens in the clubhouse.
