PRESS RELEASE Stezzano, Italy, 31st July 2018 BREMBO CELEBRATES 40 YEARS OF WINNING IN MOTOGP August 20,1978 marked the first victory in the 500CC Class of the two-wheeled World Championship with Brembo brakes. Today, after 40 years, Brembo counts 472 victories in 500/MotoGP and is the choice of 100% of the riders. August 20th marks the 40th anniversary of Brembo's first victory in the premier class of the MotoGP World Championship. On August 20,1978 Virginio Ferrari, riding a Suzuki RG500 for the Gallina team, won the 500 class at the West German Grand Prix on the legendary 22.835 km Nürburgring circuit. At that time, Brembo had just a 100 employees and the unofficial Suzuki driven by Virginio Ferrari, in what was the premier class, the "500cc Class", had Brembo 2-piston calipers 38 mm Gold Series, an axial pump Brembo 15.87 and 2 front discs, also Brembo, in 280 mm cast iron. Today, Brembo has over 10,000 employees, the brake discs used in MotoGP are carbon also with rain conditions, and the victories accumulated in the 500/MotoGP class, as of July 30, 2018 are 472. The last victory of a bike without Brembo brakes in the premier class of the world championship dates back to May 21, 1995. Notwithstanding Brembo brakes are not imposed by regulation, in the last 23 years all the best riders have always chosen Brembo brake systems, with the awareness that to go fast you also have to brake hard. The rider who won the most with Brembo is Valentino Rossi. -

I KNOW EVERYONE HAS THEIR OWN PERSONAL FAVOURITE MOMENTS FROM THE HISTORY OF BIKE RACING, BUT THAT LITTLE WINDOW IN TIME JUST HITS ALL THE RIGHT NOTES FOR ME. WORDS: Dave Stewart Real 750cc Superbikes that were pretty much homologation specials allowed the engineers to explore the limits of their imaginations and still get it past the ultra-conservative FIM Technical Commission. The inclusion of the 1000cc twin cylinder machines was designed to give the Italian bullets from Bologna a chance against the might of the Japanese factories – this was an Italian run series after all. This actually turned out to be an unintended masterstroke that created a surprisingly entertaining package. The screaming Kawasakis, howling Yamahas and captivatingly resonant Honda V4s, played off against the booming twins from Ducati and created something that nobody had really expected. It was just great. From the moment in 1993 when I watched Giancarlo Fallapa literally hand all the other top World Superbike stars their backsides on a plate at a soaking wet and slippery Brands Hatch, I was addicted to real Superbikes. Vitesse! Page 3 Foreword Motorsport essentially consists of three ingredients. First, you need a motor vehicle - which can be anything from a Formula 1 car to a lawn mower, or from a MotoGP motorcycle to a pocket bike. Second, you need a driver or rider to operate the vehicle, and finally, a place to go racing - a circuit. To most people this last ingredient is probably the least interesting. The number of books about famous racing drivers and cars, or great riders and their motorcycles, is far larger than the number of books about racing circuits. However, to me circuits are the most interesting aspect of motorsport, for two main reasons. First is their great diversity: in terms of shape, layout, length, difficulty, fame and many other factors, every circuit is different, and each has its own story to tell. Second, it is fascinating to see just how many circuits there are. Once you start looking, you can find them just about any- where. Finding lost circuits or discovering long-forgotten tracks is one of the most fun aspects of researching racing circuits. When looking for information about racing circuits online, I often found it frustrating that the available sources were not complete, and that they often lacked detail and accuracy. This is one of the reasons why I started my website www.wegcircuits.nl and why I made Rennen! Races! Vitesse! - a downloadable pdf-file that lists racing circuits of past and present in four European countries: the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Austria. -

THE VETERAN & VINTAGE MOTORCYCLE CLUB OF SOUTH AUSTRALIA INCORPORATED. The Club was formed in 1956, the first of its kind in Australia, with the object of Preserving, Restoring and using Veteran, 2 Vintage and Post Vintage Motorcycles. Membership is open to all and owning a suitable machine is not a pre-requisite. Machines manufactured prior to January 1st 1966 are eligible for Club Events. The Club has a strong family orientation and features many social activities as well as Runs and technical help. The Club meets on the second Tuesday of each month in the Payneham R&SL Club, 360 Payneham Road, Payneham commencing at 8.00 p.m. Annual Fees are due by the 30th June each year. A joining fee of $15.00 is applicable to new members. The Annual Subscription is $35.00 to all members city and country.
