JOB ROLE: CATALOGUER – ITV STUDIOS TYPE: 12 month fixed term contract DEPARTMENT: ITN Source REPORTING TO: Research Manager JOB PURPOSE:

ITV Studios' footage archive is represented on a global basis by ITN Source. Good quality metadata helps ITN Source's clients to find and license relevant and valuable archive footage for use in their productions. The purpose of this role is to improve and enhance metadata from ITV's iconic film and archive, focusing on the footage likely to be most in demand by ITN Source's clients. Enhanced metadata will also help ITV to identify, re-use, exploit and deliver its content to multiple clients and platforms throughout the world.

Based in the Archive Cataloguer will work alongside ITV's Archive, Rights and Metadata Operations team (ARMO) as well as ITN Source's small Leeds-based sales and research team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work with ITN Source and the ITV’s ARMO team to select appropriate archive footage for cataloguing and metadata enhancement. Selection criteria will be based on footage with highest potential sale value and poorest quality of metadata. Catalogue and enhance descriptive metadata for selected ITV archive footage that ITN Source has clip sale rights to, in accordance with ITV’s Archive and Metadata Policies, Standards and Data Models and in a manner that will maximise discoverability and re-use. Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the value of high quality metadata and the relevant cataloguing and metadata processes applicable to the role. Maintain logs and statistics to provide Managers with visibility of the volume of content being rights checked, catalogued and published to itnsource.com. Build and maintain effective working relationships with the ITN Source research and sales teams and with ARMO. Proactively identify footage with potential sale value and bring to the attention of relevant stakeholders. Attend relevant business meetings when required. Provide cover for the ITV Researcher

KEY ATTRIBUTES/QUALIFICATIONS:

Excellent knowledge of ITV Studio’s television archive dating back to 1955, as well as its film archive including Rank Films, Romulus and Korda. Ability to establish a good working knowledge of the specific metadata requirements for ITN Source and ITV. Rigorous attention to detail in all elements of work undertaken along with a positive and determined approach. Excellent planning and organisational skills. Strong grammar and spelling skills. Ability to prioritise, manage workload and meet deadlines. Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. An eye for good pictures and an instinct for spotting commercial value. Understanding of copyright and restrictions affecting exploitation of moving pictures. Ability to function effectively as part of a team as well as capable of working independently, and having responsibility as an individual. Self-starter able to use initiative in proposing solutions to problems. The ability to build effective relationships with colleagues
