She was raised by her grandmother with a mother in prison and a father in rehab. Today, Levi has prevailed against the odds Gto open the doors to her own business and to chart her own course. But she would experience years of self-doubt and self-discovery before her path in life would become clear. In her sophomore year at Sharpstown High School she remembers enrolling late for classes and being forced to choose between the remaining elective classes that were available.     Escovedo Family Bios Pete Escovedo (Pops) has had a fruitful career as a percussionist with three years in Santana, founder of Azteca, a cooperative 14-piece Latin big band, and the father of pop star Sheila E. The master percussionist’s music seamlessly flows between Latin jazz, salsa, funk and R&B styles. This incredible ensemble features Juan and Peter Michael Escovedo along with a mix of musicians from both Los Angeles and the Bay Area. After several decades, Pete Escovedo has become an internationally recognized percussionist, nominated for two Grammy Awards and hailed as a percussion master. He is recognized by some of the greatest artists of our time and has had the opportunity to collaborate and share the stage with musical stars like Prince, Herbie Hancock, The Temptations and Stevie Wonder. Sheila E. was born into a rich heritage of Latin music in Oakland, California. She picked up drumsticks and started making music at the precocious age of three while watching her father, legendary percussionist Pete Escovedo, rehearse for his gigs with Tito Puente and Carlos Santana. She and her two younger brothers and sister grew up in a close-knit artistic family where it wasn’t uncommon for the top musicians of the day to jam in their small apartment until the early morning hours. And if they often struggled to make ends meet, they were rich in love and family unity. She began her career in the mid-1970s as a percussionist and singer for The George Duke Band. After leaving the group in 1983, Sheila began a successful solo career, starting with her critically acclaimed debut album, which included the career-defining song, “The Glamorous Life”.

When they moved away to Los Angeles, we became Hockey Town by winning three Stanley Cups and now the Tigers are in the Playoffs and the Lions are winning. We are back and this Concert will put the light right where it Mission should be, Detroit is still alive. This event will Benefit Michigan Board of Statement Education and the local charity of Coats 4 Kids, The City of Detroit Serving underprivileged youth in the State. The GREATEST of the GREAT LAKES by Bigger Than Life Entertainment We here at BTL would like to work towards bettering the lives of the Michigan youth by the success of this event. “Hoping to boost the confidence of the youth of Detroit, and its surrounding cities” by providing them with a brighter future, generated by people who care and have over come the same obstacles they endure.
